Patreon Update:

Hey everyone! We've been spending the first week of January doing a lot of much needed behind the scenes housekeeping and just general recharging. But pretty soon we'll be doing our yearly catch-up/re-cap episode of Half in the Bag. A lot of movies but also a lot of TV stuff this time. We're planning to do a back-to-basics normal three movie Best of the Worst later this month as well, and we've also been working here and there on a couple other long-term projects we'll hopefully have more info on later in the year. Happy new year!
Anyone else read these in Mike's nerd crew voice?

Watching RLM for actual advice on which movie is worth seeing is like thinking that The Grand Tour is a genuine car review show.
What do you mean? I totally bought the rifftrax of Dangerous Men, Suburban Sasquatch, AND a raw version of Suburban Sasquatch based on their BotW videos...

Money well spent.

While they're recharging, they should put out another commentary track. I can only listen to the He-Man one so many times!

The Max Landis episode wasn't removed from YouTube, but it is unlisted:
It's a shame it might as well be removed because Max Landis makes it unwatchable.

He does compare himself to Scrappy Doo in the video itself, which is somewhat fitting, but at least Scrappy Doo would shut up every once in a while.

It was weird rewatching early episodes and hearing shit like that and realizing how quickly everything changed from where that was a maybe slightly off-color joke to being a horrible slur in like three years.
I'm sure they wouldn't make more than half of the edgy jokes that were in the early stuff, like in one of the Star Wars PT reviews where he goes through Star Wars first [blank] race and when he said "first Jew" it was the little rat thing with Jabba lol

Reminder that Siskel & Ebert had bad takes sometimes. Here's one, for example:
These boomers were always overrated. Look at their retarded Toy Story review were ALL they talk about is the CGI, nothing about the writing, story, acting, etc. They are a great example of how many boomers view movies.
SPACE COP 2?
Oh gawd! I'm gonna cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum!

Since the sperging for the Matrix went on longer than I thought it would, I'll throw my 2 cents in.

Matrix 1 - Classic action movie with some cool ideas. A great example of what I was saying in the Lindsay Ellis thread about making sure your story is good before putting your "themes" in.
Matrix 2/3 - Horrible, pretentious movies that are little anti-White with things like that scene where Neo calls the KFC man an "old white fuck" that go back on the anti-machine/AI themes of the first movie for some gay "truce" ending. A perfect example of putting your gay themes before the story and going against the setup of the original.
Matrix 4 - It's pretty funny and somewhat based lol but still shit.

I finally watched the review, and the review itself is really mediocre. Like some stuff I agree with, but they really suck off this movie a bit too hard when it sounds like it doesn't commit to the self aware meta bits.

But it was just mediocre overall, it doesn't really help I am not attached to the Matrix as a franchise especially since 2 and 3 were pretty dogshit so it's like a very low bar to be bad. Either way this was just a pretty underwhelming review of a meh movie.

This is why Avatar made so much fucking money.

Avatar is one of the most mediocre movies ever made, and the main reason why I hate it so much is because of how damn long it is when it has no business in being that long.

RE: Mike and Jay's The Matrix: Resurrections review:

To quote myself in another thread

Personally speaking, I respect people who can sincerely articulate their opinion on a piece of media that's contrary to my own or even the majority of people. Like, if you're willing to make the case for why Garbage Pail Kids isn't as bad as everyone says, then I'm all ears, because maybe what you say can challenge my perspective and make me see things in a different way.

And that's one of the reasons that I enjoy RedLetterMedia. They're very knowledgeable about film and make entertaining content discussing it. So I don't mind the having a questionable take every now and then, and their review didn't bother me. Plus, the bit about dodging Louis C.K.'s jizz in Bullet Time was fucking hilarious if you ask me.

The review was dumb and their gushing over the meta stuff was like reading a reddit thread about Rick & Morty but I still look forward to their next video. I've disagreed with them before and probably will again in the future.

I have no intention of ever watching the new Matrix movie but the meta bullshit definitely sounds pretentious and dumb, the kind of thing an asshole college student might be impressed by because he just discovered Philosophy 101, and idk why the guys were slobbering over Lana Wachowski's neon pubed ladydick. I don't give a fuck about some troon's parents dying of embarrassment over their sons being weird perverts, I just want to hear amusing movie banter from a couple of alcoholic Wisconsinites.

But I think Half in the Bag has been treading water for some time now, it's still moderately entertaining but the boys ran out of their best jokes a while back and middle age takes the edge off people. At least they're not doing the cringey "comedy" storylines anymore.

I don't think the movie did anything different. Sure, the first half of the movie was full of obnoxious, snarky, and self-aware dialogue (which is an ever-growing trend in media today, so ... That's not new), and the second half was full of nostalgia bait (as the movie literally replays clips from the previous Matrix movies constantly) with terribly done action scenes ... Which, again, is not anything new.

If they really wanted to subvert expectations Matrix Resurrection should just have been 2 hours of Pokimane watching the original Matrix.

Fucking kino. Thanks for the idea. I'm going to pitch this to Disney to have the next 3 Star Wars movies be compilations of people reacting to the movies.

From their last BOTW, I was under the impression they were gonna make a video about Get Back. Must have misunderstood.

Wait a minute Max Landis did a META ? According to Mike, Jay&The Gang this makes it the best review ever!
