Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

So we have a variant in Omicron that the current vaccines don't seem to work against at all, and they have to develop an Omicron specific vaccine to deal with it, yet they still want us to get the original vaccines.
So far, that has been peak clown world for me. The crypto-Sabbatean Muslim in charge of Pfizer said there won't be an Omicron vaccine until April, and most cases now are Omicron, so logically the booster program would be halted until April right?

whats the update on the supreme court?

Radio silence from them still as of this post. No word on a request for OSHA to voluntarily pause the ETS mandate while they deliberate either.

I made five attempts to archive/attach the Guardian article without having it be enormous, but I am terrible at this and it came out weirdly corrupted and fuzzy every time. A little help?

Here you go.

Yeah, and very few of them think they're 100% protected against anything no matter what they do. When you're closer to the end of your life it's normal to need to do more and more stuff just to preserve your biological continuity. They're not bothered by an ever-lengthening gauntlet of shots and tests and stuff because if you're a health-anxious boomer that's your life anyway. The insured middle-class boomers who make up the old person brigade supporting covid measures probably go to the doctor several times every year so they can get some imaging done on your latest ache or pain or adjust your meds. Medical attention is good attention to a lot of old people. They are likely to have ongoing regular appointments with specialists.

I think you're on to something with that. There's long been a multibillion-dollar industry of bullshit snakeoil "medications" and do-nothing supplements that don't even contain what the label says they do, and the target market is largely this same middle-class boomer demographic segment. Some prick in a lab coat comes out and sells them subscription vaccines, and the ones that weren't generic antivaxxers nod and add it to their shopping cart. It's like retail therapy for health.

I hope SpaceX or others from Earth don't colonize Mars during Current Year.

Can you imagine Clown World spreading to another planet?

USA CoVax Mandate Legal News Roundup -- "Papers, Please" Edition

The Supreme Court's MIA, but there's still news out there. Some good, some bad.

The Good:

Remember the Sandia National Labs corporate mandate story I shared a while back? (This is the place that's a cousin of Los Alamos, they're nuke nerds.) Management blinked and is backing off their mandate. (Archive)

In December, hundreds of Sandia National Lab employees rang in the new year with a lawsuit against their employer. The lawsuit was filed after the labs issued a vaccine mandate requiring all employees to get their second dose of the vaccine by Jan. 4 or be let go.
And just last week, the day after their vaccine deadline – Sandia paused the mandate.
A statement provided by Sandia National Laboratories said, in part, "on January 5 Sandia National Laboratories paused enforcement of its mandate meaning the discipline process for employees who are unvaccinated and processing of religious and medical accommodations are on hold."

The Bad:

Massachusetts is jumping on the vaxxpass bandwagon. (Archive)

A state-sponsored coronavirus passport is making its debut in Massachusetts but Baker administration officials stressed there is no vaccine mandate coming.

The new tool, called My Vax Records, gives residents the option of accessing a digital version of their COVID-19 vaccine record directly from their phones via the state website.

Anyone who received their vaccination in Massachusetts can access their own vaccine history and generate a COVID-19 digital vaccine card, which would contain similar information to a paper Centers for Disease Control and Prevention vaccination record card.
During a briefing with reporters Monday, administration officials stressed the digital vaccine passport, which they refer to as a digital vaccine card tool, does not come with a statewide vaccine mandate.

The Administration is not requiring residents to show proof of vaccination to enter any venue, but this tool will help residents who would like to access and produce a digital copy of their record,” they said.

"Just trust me, bro."

Mass again -- Boston's NYC-style city employee mandate has dodged an injunction and is a go. (Archive)

Mayor Michelle Wu’s worker vaccine mandate will move ahead, a judge ruled just days before enforcement is due to begin.

“I will not enjoin the enforcement of the policy as of January 15,” Suffolk Superior Judge Jeffrey Locke said following a Wednesday hearing. “I think the public health emergency now is of such a nature that it outweighs the competing claims of harm by the plaintiff.”

Locke heard from both sides in a lawsuit ahead of the Saturday deadline, when the city will begin to place workers on unpaid leave if they haven’t received at least one coronavirus vaccine. The city argued this was necessary due to the current massive spread of the omicron variant, while the three public-safety unions suing to stop the implementation of the mandate said the city had skipped over key negotiating steps even though the situation hadn’t changed that much.
The lawyers for both sides said that as many as 440 of these three unions’ employees are unvaccinated and will face removal from work. Most of those — 353 — are with the fire department, per a count from several weeks ago cited by both sides. Under the new city rules, everyone has to have one shot by this Saturday, and be fully vaccinated by Feb. 15.

"Yeah, baby, yeah!!!"

Of all places, Omaha, Nebraska abruptly instituted a "temporary" citywide mask mandate. (Archive) 2020 deja vu.

Douglas County Health Director Lindsay Huse issued a mask mandate Tuesday for schools and many other public indoor spaces in the city of Omaha, but the Nebraska attorney general is threatening legal action to stop it.

The order was set to take effect at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday. Under the order, schools, many businesses and other entities whose premises are open to the general public must require people age 5 and older to wear a face covering over their mouth and nose while indoors, unless the people maintain a distance of 6 feet from each other.
The move is opposed by Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts, who said the Douglas County Health Department lacks the authority to issue such a mandate. Ricketts asked Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson to consider legal action. Peterson sent Huse a letter Wednesday afternoon threatening a lawsuit to stop the mandate.

Gigantic employer Hewlett-Packard Enterprise just instituted their own CoVax mandate. (Archive) This could get spicy as they're HQ'ed in Houston, TX, and TX is not a fan of these mandates right now.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise will require employees, contractors and visitors to get vaccinated before coming to its offices or attending events, the company announced Tuesday.
HPE's new home state of Texas has been particularly hostile to vaccine mandates, including through Gov. Greg Abbott's executive order limiting government agencies' and some businesses' ability to require vaccines.

Does anyone know if the J&J vaccine is linked to heart attacks or any other sudden deaths? My mum dropped dead the other day at 63 years old. I saw her on Saturday and she was fine and then she didn’t show up to work so I went over and she wasn’t answering. The police had to come and break in and found her dead on the floor. Granted she drank and smoked a bit but deaths from those are usually long and drawn out and not so sudden. She’s getting an autopsy sometime this week so maybe we’ll find out then but they’ll never in a million years blame the vaccine as the culprit if it’s a heart attack or something.
I'm late, and you have my sympathies. I just wanted to add my "Yes it can and seems to have done so" to your collection.
So this was the number 1 trending thing on reddit.
How is quarantine weight gain real? Like, just put down the fork, hahahahahah

thanks for the update, as far as i'm concerned the supreme court pocket vetoed this bullshit. and most of my fellow employees agree. i think half of them finally got vaxxed this weekend. lots of call outs too. but overall the supreme court has allowed this to happen and deserve fedposting.

and once the February deadline hits it will be the same thing, i've just did forged paperwork, fuck the tests fuck the government. ill walk if they find out but honestly fuck them. no real quality job offers anywhere either.

hey @Butcher Pete

What do you think the outlook is for returning to the "old normal" in Japan?

(like masks coming off except when sick, no more "temporary" closures, no more "social distancing", etc.)

Hard to say. Masks were a thing even before Covid, and the government will probably never say, “You don’t need masks anymore“ just to avoid the risk of being wrong. I don’t see them going away anytime soon.

However, there are a lot of people who won’t wear them if they aren’t specifically required, and even then they’ll half-ass it (under the nose, etc.). And even places that “require“ them say nothing if you don’t use one. I go into 7-11s, bars, restaraunts, etc. without one.

My guess is that half of the population will eventually slide into non-compliance, while the other half will continue to religiously wear it because no one told them to take it off.

As far as ”social distancing” goes, lol. No one does that. The trains are once again packed to sardine levels, restaraunts are crowded, etc. The signs are up, but it’s just theater at this point.

But will they use it as an excuse to delay opening up to general tourism again? I imagine so.

Once the muzzling up falls, I wonder if the ones who don't will eventually realize "hey there's no superplague scare anymore" and follow along?

(I imagine stuff like "mask breath" and discomfort from the strings digging into the ears make wearing them all the time uncomfortable.)

And yeah, it could be like a new Edo period with isolation from foreign travel for who knows how long.

I REALLY fucking hope not. Japan was #1 on the list of nations I wanted to travel to as soon as I attained a stable income and savings, which was in 2019. The fucking NANOSECOND they open up, I'm booking a ticket there for as long as I can. I'll fucking SWIM from Korea if I have to.

If I was well off, I would take advantage of that Japanese rural land selling program to promote rural town living , buy and restore a Showa era house, and let the world burn hundreds of miles away.

Sakoku is fine. Just let me in first.

If I had the power I would love to create a Truman Show type of controlled enviroment, put a covidian in it, tell them that everyone in the area is 100% vaxxed and then give them covid, and see if they still blame the unvaxxed (answer: YES).

On a Reddit thread about mask confusion -

I don't think there is anything our overlords can do to convince some people to get off their Covid horse, these people might be living in some kind of Groundhog Day nightmare for life reliving 2020 until they drop dead (not the part of the year when the media said masks don't work and the coof is nothing to worry about though).

I wish the Dominion voting system glitched and the cemetery mail got lost and Trump won because can you imagine Pfizer and Trump both pushing the vaccine in 2021, and the liberals continuing to be strongly against the vaxx because of the orange man, what a weird fucking timeline that would have been.

Reply button no work.

Yes to vidya, no to COVID. The millenials that prescribe to these sort of notions have been using the "we did everything right" statement as a demand that people provide them what they feel entitled to since at least 2010. It's as if they feel that saying these words on the internet is like typing IDDQD into DOOM, and someone will suddenly see that these people have been cheated and provide them with a six figure salary, a home, and an SUV along with one million subscribers on youtube.

Sorry, kids. Life don't work like that.

I've got some bad news:

I'm convinced that we would be living in a very different, but equally awful world had that occurred. I imagine instead of the Covid tyranny grinding everyone into the dirt, it would be race war shit 24/7, with near-constant rioting and chaos. Not that we don't have the volume on race shit dialed up to a cacophony now, but Niggermania Worldwide seemed to be Plan B given the huge amount of coordination BLM and soforth had with the moneyed elite in 2020. I'm honestly not sure what would be worse between the two hells.

You know what struck me as weird actually? Statistically, looking at incidence of illness, smokers appeared less likely to catch the coof in 2019-2020 than nonsmokers.
Smoke is hot, which viruses tend not to like.

why have we not burned china to the ground for this bullshit yet?
Because the money that funded them came from America.

And this is all according to plan.

Have I gotten any of these details wrong?
A little.

The earlier email leak was that Fauci and NIAID had an idea and shopped it around to find someone to do it for them. They approached DARPA who nope'd the fuck out citing both the law and that it was just too dangerous, then Fauci went to China and the WIV, using EcoHealth as a middle-man to launder the money and hoping they'd end up as the fall-guy if anything went wrong.

Too bad that he basically signed the cheques himself and left a paper-trail so detailed he may as well have written "for gain-of-function research" in the memo box.

As I understood it, the money trail was:
IRS -> NIAID -> EcoHealth -> WIV (The Bill Gates Foundation was involved in there too, somewhere, but it's a bit merky nailing down where)

So when I get off work I cry. I cry at being the one who martyred the children, the one who made the children and their parents cry, the one who had to forcibly test dozens of children at the school gate. These children who have not asked anyone for anything.
And then all the other Kampfgruppen members clapped.

Sorry lady, those crocodile tears don't mean a thing. You could stop this by telling the government no, but instead you choose to keep pushing the gaus button. Just doing your job. Sound familiar/

You got what you deserve.
