There's some big/funny news on the SFWA front. Thanks to a mole we have screenshots of an exclusive SFWA chatroom that is used to co-ordinate the mass reporting of twitter accounts that insult SFWA members.

That person at the bottom of the second screenshot is Jeffe Kennedy, the current president of the SFWA.
Here's the link to the chat, you needed a SFWA account to access it.
That link now 404s because the SFWA panicked and took the chat down. The mole unfortunately posted his screenshots early and the gig was up pretty quickly. Still, like Pat's dumb lawsuit, the chatroom is another example of SFWA member dues being used to protect people's feelings online. Pathetic.
On the twitter front, Pat is very quiet today for some reason. The hashtags for the convention that he's attending are quiet as well, apart from a few tweets about the lawsuit.

Shame that leaker got caught so quickly.
Like I habe said repeatedly, there's a known network within SFWA that coordinates messaging blasts and harassment targets... exposing its full extent and methodology would cut off SFWA at the knees.
Entirely theoretically, you need a SFWA membership to have access to these chats, right?
I have one. If I can access it without outting myself...
I love this stuff the most, anything that shows how publishing industry spergs actually behave behind the scenes is gold. I want nothing but bad things to happen to the entire scene, and I hope everybody is upset forever.
You have no idea how much I want EVERYONE to have a peek behind the curtain and see how pathetic these assholes really are.
SpaceEdge (one of the most prolific trolls on the OnAForums) has released a promo for the 6th part of ApostleGate titled - "SFWA's Victim's Unit"

For those new to the thread, this is a big deal because the last time an episode of ApostleGate was released, it resulted in Pat having a psychotic 1/2 hour meltdown over the phone. I uploaded that to the Farms in another thread, you can find it

Oh my god they're really going after SFWA? This is even more exciting than Pat losing the second lawsuit... especially given the relatively little they've done already has the organization in panic mode.
Needless to say, I know we have some mutual members... if the folks at OnA want or need any info or intel from inside the beast? I will help where I can.
There needs to be some kind of racketeering charge against SFWA.
Honestly it would probably be much much easier to target thier organizational 501c3 status.
Oh god, please tell me Scalzi isn't a sex-offender too. I really liked Old Man's War. This is why I have a general policy of learning as little as I can about authors. I often don't even look at the pictures at the end of the book so I wouldn't know them from Adam. I swear, every time I let my guard down I find that one of my favorite authors is either a sex offender or a total twat. I know that one day I'm going to find a bombshell about Seth Dickinson(Baru Comorant). There is no way a guy that obsessed with lesbians is not a fucker of some sort.
I don't know if he fucks kids, but he certainly fucks spec fiction over as much as possible. Unless you're in SFWA upper leadership, or one of the "lucky" few he deems acceptable, nearly every author, editor and non-Tor publisher has a half dozen horror stories about John Scalzi.
Aside from NK Jemison, he's probably the biggest bully in spec fiction. Loony lefty, one of the key ringleaders in everything from spearheading efforts to smear right wing authors like Larry Correia and Jim Butcher to helping mentor or uplift much of the current crop of maniacs running SFWA.
Oh, and he's an utter hack as an author. Old Man's War is a less competent riff on The Forever War, Redshirts makes Ready Player One look deep, and he's been caught essentially taking successful books by midlist indie authors and rewriting them... Jason Cordova and Eric S. Brown are ready to go to war over his next book ripping off thier Kaiju series.
Somehow Tor gave him a multimillion dollar advance despite his last book barely selling 10k copies.
Like Jemison, he's the rare SFWA insider who has managed to get connections outside the organization... so taking him down a peg or five would be a MASSIVE blow to SFWA.
Jesus fucking Christ man. I'm never making fun of Fat Rick for wasting the SFWA's money ever again. That's $150k they won't be spending on their next pedo defense case.
Give them hell you magnificent bastards.
Well, that's all a huge bummer. Serves me right for asking, but hey, in for a penny in for a pound. Here is a list of authors I've been enjoying lately. Let's see if you have stories that will sour me on them too.
Tom Holt aka KJ Parker, author of The Engineer Trilogy, Prosper's Demon, and 16 Ways to Defend a Walled City. One of my favs, so losing him might actually hurt.
Mike Resnick, Starship Mutiny
China Mieville, Un Lun Dun is my favorite so far even if it's his younger reader book. It was so fun.
Jesse Bullington, The Enterprise of Death, The Sad Tale of the Brothers Grossbart
Christopher Moore
Martha Wells, Murderbot Diaries. No doubt a hardcore lefty, but damn if Murderbot isn't excellent
Adrian Tchaikovsky, Shadows of the Apt, Made Things, Spiderlight
A Lee Martinez, Emperor Mollusk VS the Sinister Brain
Matt Ruff, Sewer, Gas, and Electric
Chin up my friend - no horror stories to be found on that list. About the worst I can say is China Mieville is a bit of an oddball personally and I loathe his politics, but otherwise is a good dude. Martha Wells is your bog standard leftist harpy that is a darling to Tor and SFWA - thus her Hugo wins this year. She's pretty much the only one on that bunch that raises a red flag.
The rest? The late Mike Resnick is a genre legend for a reason, and Christopher Moore is one of my favorites too.
