It’s terrifying that humans who are as obviously stupid such as Sander, (and likely Griffin), can get the degrees they do. As a mere high school graduate, I have always suspected that much of college means just showing up and paying tuition, and these dummies seem to prove my point.

On the other hand, I have a relative who graduated with a double major in math and comp sci from Caltech who is clearly brilliant. So maybe it’s the school? Is University of Florida a diploma mill? It’s hard to imagine the person I know and Sander being on the same plane of existence, much less both having degrees.

It depends on the school and what you're majoring in. Mostly the major as long as the university is accredited. Prestige hasn't mattered much for a while now. General rule of thumb is that if the school has a D1 or D2 college football or basketball team, the degree is as valid as an Ivy. The UF engineering or law schools are not diploma mills. Neither is the math program. Harvard is not more difficult; if anything it's less difficult once you're in because of how well funded it is. You're not having to do labs with shitty equipment and lectures taught by shitty instructors. What's difficult is the competition. You're competing with some really smart people. But you're also

And Griffen has proved himself in the last couple of episodes to be a smug dick. At the end of the day the Ivy League colleges are for the rich, famous and a few actually gifted individuals. Did we forget Jazz got accepted…to HARVARD? That proves everything we need to know. These colleges are not what they were 100 years ago, the age where they EARNED the reputation of being prestige schools. Today they just use that history of greatness as a slogan to get money from narcissistic rich parents or “woke points” when it comes to cases like Jazz - why do we still take them seriously?

All the kids are dumb and look it too. My mother is a liberal and works in the medical field. She’s very professional and has a soft heart for people who are disabled because she’s worked with them in her line of work. When I talked to her about the show once and showed her a picture of Sanders, she took one look at him and asked in the utmost seriousness, “Is he retarded?”

I have been reading this excellent conversation and just wanted to add a few random things.

First, Boston is tiny. It is NOT huge. Someone said 8 million people? No. 800,000 in Boston. 4 million in the entire eastern half of Massachusetts. Cambridge is also tiny. Jazz is not going to be able to get lost in a crowd.

Second, if Jazz had attempted suicide, I think THAT would be covered up. But a breakdown? THAT is a plot twist. If there hadn't been something as serious as a suicide attempt, Jeanette would not be backing down on stuff like suspending the diet, or the hideous clothes Jazz wants to bring to Harvard. A breakdown? She's be all over it with "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" vs, "I'm worried.". Also, Harvard undoubtedly thinks of breakdowns as just another day at the beach. No big deal. But suicide attempts. Lawyers, lawsuits. Not trivial. Also, Harvard is by no means harder than any other good school. They have anywhere between 10 and 30% of their classes being comprised of legacies. Think Dubya. They are always going to bring down the curve.
