NeoGAF & ResetERA - The Hilarious N̶e̶v̶e̶r̶e̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ Splintering "Gaming" Forum Circus

this was pointed out in the article and also in that thread (and ignored) the only people upset about it are americans that have absolutely no real connection with Chinese culture or language
Always the way. Complaints about cultural appropriation always start with diaspora populations insecure about their heritage, and then get amplified by wokescold Karens like the population of ResetEra who will ignore all people from the actual culture because one [x]-American said it's bad. This has happened forever, from Speedy Gonzalez and Apu being beloved by actual Mexicans and Indians, to the 'my culture is not your prom dress' guy and the notorious photo of women yelling at the Japanese women who were hosting a kimono exhibit where people could try them on. People actually from the culture nearly always love sharing said culture unless it has a strong spiritual or personal perception - see Native American reaction to headdresses, but turquoise art is fine. It's always the mixed or 2nd gen kids who kick up a fuss, especially the ones whose parents succeeded in giving them a better life in the US than they would have had in their home country. They have the luxury to take such bullshit personally, after all.

The cultural melting pot is no longer good enough for these assholes, but then nothing is. The chance you'll have a kid who grows up to be one of these perpetually-butthurt fucktards is the only argument against race-mixing that has a point - but to be fair, it's not just them, it's also the white butthurt fucktards who only agree with minorities when they're taking offence, so even that's no guarantee your kid won't grow up to be a ResetEra poster. So race-mix away and just set proper internet boundaries instead.

The Direct gave them something akin to be happy, for a couple of hours at least. It was pretty good afterall.

Article is a hit piece. Repeatedly says no Chinese were involved in the production but then cites the Chinese people who were involved in the production. States that no actual Chinese people care about it, but that it's still offensive because they need it to be.

this thread should get pretty good when it ramps up. the "criticisms" in the article literally boil down to "white people shouldnt be allowed to play games that are not set in europe or america"
Is SWANA the woke term for MENA or something?

I didn’t read the entire article (Don’t have time to read long form autistic screeching), but this part caught my attention:

“But real, respectful depictions of the Arab world and of SWANA cultures are few and far between. And we aren’t the ones who have the resources to tell our stories yet.”

And it’s total BS. There are tons of Arabic media, including music, movies, and TV. And the Gulf countries are among the richest in the world. So there’s no lack of resources either.

The author only thinks there’s a lack of representation because he/she/it is a “non-binary” diaspora kid who probably doesn’t speak Arabic and wouldn’t understand or accept the culture even if she did.

That’s the funny thing about these annoying cultural appropriation diaspora people. They’re all super whitewashed so they can’t relate to their own cultures, but they take it out on western civilization and demand that western media cater to them even though they’re small in number and not particularly interesting. Sorry but “dark skinned girl that is in every other way identical to an elite coastal liberal” is not the interesting story foundation you think it is.

To be fair though, I think she is right in one of her criticisms, which is that fantasy tends to be very shallow in depicting a culture no matter which one it is, including European ones. But this is also because a lot of modern fantasy is written by uncultured nerds who are too lazy to do research outside of reading older fantasy and can’t get out of their 2020 coastal liberal worldviews and try to put themselves in the shoes of a person who is actually living in the fantastical circumstances they’re writing about. Hence you get stuff like Dragon Age where being a queer or tranny is a major concern for characters that are living under constant threat of the apocalypse.

21k post user banned for .....im not sure what

View attachment 2968860

Just a reminder that a Chinaman literally lied to the Resetera user base, didn't pay his jannies, gave them ad infested malware at the same time as making the "persecuted minorities" pay for EraClear and then pulled the rug from under them when he flipped the shithole for millions whilst laughing all the way to the bank.

Based Isamu Fukui, he will never be forgotten. Hasn't been back to Resetera once since payday.

I was looking at rustynails previous bans and saw this

The most intriguing thing to me is how a long-time poster would feel when they get their first ban in a while, and it's like a month at that, for saying something a little bit too much for the general crowd then never step outside of their comfort zone again. See picture attached.

Resetera's moderation team is essential engaging in a negative feedback loop, based on them and say Neoxon. Dude is everywhere, self-promoting his heart out.

Generally the response in other environs is to find a different site to post on by the time the ban expires.

I've been on the forum since it launched. Like at the very beginning. I don't have a high post count because I just lurk and occasionally post on the video game side for stuff I'm interested in.

Made a comment on one of the 'protected' posters stupid posts about trivial bullshit in a game. Banned for a month almost right away, Apparently I was still in junior phase, after how many years? Had a second account and it was banned as an alt account after one post. Lol.

I just wanna read and talk about video games without all the bullshit resetera goes through for every game they dislike 😒

Wonder why it took those cowards so long to decide his fate? Are they just too scared to do anything other than stealth permabans for longtime members?
Not at all, They nuked RustyNails for naming the jew this week, and then there is the 21k post user who dared question the average quality of AliExpress/Wish.com products.
In many cases it's more the mods' lackadaisical attitude to their work and the fact that pressing a button in the xenforo admin page makes them hallucinate and lose sleep or something.

Man visits the US with his GF, she gets attacked in LA and has to run away from homeless people, restarea decides to virch and attack him for not sucking junkie dick

2nd and 4th post peak Reeera again.
