With the artwork on the Japanese aircraft. You'd have to be a monster to shoot them down.

For one, the southern and eastern parts of their country would likely be broken off and eventually absorbed by Russia. Another big problem would be that the current leaders of Ukraine would have to leave the country and eventually probably be murdered by Russian poison. Finally, there's a non zero chance that Ukraine and Belarus will be absorbed into Russia as well with the Union State project.
Those all sound like personal/internal Ukrainian problems. Not really seeing how that effects the rest of the world except for Belarus which idk how likely that is or if the people in Belarus are actually opposed to it.

I would love a Manhatten-style project for nuclear fusion. Fusion would be fucking awesome and would be essentially unlimited, clean, safe energy for dirt cheap. Could even use said energy to capture carbon in the atmosphere and fix the whole climate change thing.

Plus it'd get us off oil and stop supporting shitty oil countries like Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, and Russia.
Which is precisely why it won't happen. Too many grifts would be lost to it.

No history books wrote by crotchety old white oppressors in the 70s and 80s or, for the pre-Soviet times, the 50s and earlier

My man, Putin would not start such a vast invasion of Ukraine if he only wanted Donetsk and Luhansk seeing as how he already had a third of them. He likely wants at minimum everything south and east of the Dnieper and more likely a Ukrainian client state for the remainder.
i think he wants to return ukraine to what it was pre euromaidan: a semi neutral buffer state that leaned more towards russia than towards the west, ruled by a pro-russia president (yanukovich)

You are currently living in the safest time in humanitys entire history, and just some news of a war gets you doompilled? Odds are you would've died in childbirth or at age 2 of smallpox in the past.

Everyones such a little bitch these days.
While I sometimes tend to be a bit more panicky than the average person, this time it's less "oh god, we're all gonna get glassed by nukes" but more "the economy was already in the crapper, prices are rising faster than the income, ruble collapsed and hasn't climbed back, government's control over free speech is getting tighter and tighter and other countries hate us (and so much more)... So why don't we add another foreign war to the mix! Surely that's gonna go well!".
Sometimes I'm not sure whether some politicians are genuinely retarded or so out of touch with reality and the struggles of the common people that they just seem retarded, which is more likely. I think the bald manlet used to be a decent ruler, but looks like the power has driven him insane and now he tries to create some kind of isolated Orthodox superpower. Maybe someday in the future, they'll rename Napoleon's complex to Putin's complex.
If there's one amusing thing about the whole situation, is that how many people are happy about the sanctions that target specifically politicians and billionaires. Really exemplifies how much we love the ruling class.

Assuming this is true, what's the problem for everyone else if Ukraine is a client state of Russia as opposed to a client state of the EU/USA/globohomo.

It's a problem because the US and globohomo cares so much about Freedom (c) and Democracy (tm) that their heart bleeds and they cannot sleep at night, knowing Ukrainians are out there, being oppressed by a pro-Russian regime and being forced to use Yandex instead of Google.

See it this way boys and trannies, the globalist dream has been dismantled before our very eyes. They played their hand too hard during the pandemic, and now Russia has all but destroyed any notion of a fully integrated, centralised global economy run by a groups of unelected technocrats.

God bless Putin.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend, indeed. Fuck Russia and fuck China but fuck the globalist cabal for weakening the West so much that this shit is happening.

Basically, one country invading and conquering another sets a bad precedent for maintaining a peaceful world order. Also, NATO definitely doesn't want to lose a possible client state.
