Fallout series

Hanlon would rather eat his gun barrel than explain his totally justified actions before a court-martial. That leaves Hsu as the best choice, but you'll get no argument from me on that given his quiet competence.

Hanlon IS one of the best choices, the issue is that the war had exausted him to the point he would much rather the NCR cut its losses and let Ceasar take the Dam so less lives will be lost in another conflict he didnt have much faith in the NCR winning (and lets face it, he can see the writing on the wall).

Its like you know your team is gonna lose because the current leader is an arrogant bastard so you would much rather to just declare defeat and save the lives of your men instead of dying in a conflict that is pretty much already lost.

He was responsible for NCR's first victory and he could do it again if he was given proper recognition and position instead of being left on some camp away from the action. He is just succumbing into despair being surrounded by such incompetent leadership (lord knows we all know that feeling)

Edit: Hell, it literally takes the death of Ceasar for you to convince Hanlon that the NCR might have a shot at winning and for him to get some of his spirits back. He is a good man and leader just suffering from having too much empathy with his men and being forced to watch incompent morons lead his faction into a slaughterhouse

they've got a guerilla war down in Baja
described as "chasing ghosts" and certainly overkill when they could just send patrol rangers or even just troopers
and oh, a war in their home territories against the Brotherhood of Steel
a war the brotherhood lost so hard that it can at best be described as technically ongoing at best where the brotherhood cower in their bunkers in fear is truly a pressing threat

Yeah it seems stupid but this is still the fallout universe. There's a whole bunch of mad science bullshit everywhere and those BOS paladins are outfitted in what is (lorewise) a walking tank.

and they still got absolutely shitstomped those heavy troopers didn't pull that salvaged armor out of thin air you know as house put it succinctly: "Ideological purity and shiny power armor don't count for much when you're outnumbered 15:1"

Power Armor isnt indestructable, if you get lead, laser and plasma rained on you from all directions, that thing is gonna give in sooner or later.

Its a war of attrition.

Not to mention the possibility of mortar fire, EMP grenades, AP rounds, or anti-tank weapons.

Hell, going by 4's depiction of PA, well aimed shots can destroy the fusion core. Or just shoot the knight when he's outside the armor.

Indeed, power armor isnt that impressive when the opposition is armed with stuff strong enough to pierce through it.

That does make me wonder what it was done with the enclave armors, I mean, sure, they might be from the enemy but they are the strongest piece of PA there is (or was until "suddenly" a new better model came into scene...unless the Enclave specific model is still stronger? Idk, shit's confusing).

Either way, the enclave left a lot of stuff behind and you would have to be a moron to not retrofit that tech into your defensive arsenal

enclave pa is still better than t-60 afaik as for ncr and brotherhood lacking enclave tech I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to "scuttle" a lot of it's more advanced tech as a last bit of spite or just stuff they couldn't retreat with

Thats extra bizarre coming from the BOS...given, you know, collecting tech and all that shit.

I legit think this is a plothole New Vegas didnt bother/forgot to address.

i meant the enclave doing that to the ncr and brotherhood
Oh sorry, I misread it

But for real, there is nothing in lore that implies that so, for all we know, the NCR and BOS kind of looked at Enclave PA and just

Is it just me, or does it just really feel like in the past 2-3 years, Fallout 4 modding has really stagnated?

I go back to New Vegas often and find a plethora of mods that do all sorts of new things frequently, but yet going to Fallout 4 it's always the same shit. CBBE skimpy slooty armor mods, yet another tactical mod that tries and fails to make the game like stalker or Escape from Tarkov. Another fucking Call of Duty weapon and armor port. More character presets that make you or your companion stick out like a sore thumb by looking like an instagram influencer or e-girl.

That's because creating new content like quests or trying to change the non-existent RPG aspect is fucking nuts in FO4.

Basically most of the reason right here, along with the fact the "refined" parts of the game still feel extremely clunky to work with. The only mods that have been keeping my interest as of now have been the ones from the Capital Wasteland mod team or Project Mojave/F4NV.

New Vegas fandom is infested with trannies, who are generally autistic and thus tend to be dedicated modders.

I really hope those 2 mods are good. Because honestly, the Fallout 4 tech would be incredible to recreate 3 and New Vegas.
And if we could somehow get a Tale of Three Wastelands from this shit I would be absolutely fucking happy. Just make the Sole Survivor a very immersive voiced companion and make you integral to their main quest. There could either be a lot of "What should we do now" moments where the player gets to steer Nate/Nora to make the choices the player wants, or the player's choices could impact the Sole Survivor's direction.

I heard Someguy tried to make a quest mod similar to FNV's Bounty Hunter series
ended up canceling it because the creation kit is too weird

Can confirm. The Fallout 4 CS is very different from the 3/NV GECK. I wanted to change a few creatures to be more to my liking, maybe make a few custom ones, and... yeah, I couldn't even figure out how to add or take off the little parts that make them up, which in the GECK was as simple as clicking a little tab.
I think how different it tends to be from Bethesda's older creation kit layout that was used to make every game from Morrowind to Skyrim kinda pushed a lot of modders away. I haven't made one personal mod for Fallout 4, even though I've made personal mods for Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, and New Vegas. The creation kit is just too much of a pain in the fucking ass to learn, whereas the last iterations were actually really intuitive and easy to learn.
