He should be getting treatment so he can assist in his defense, if I understand what we’ve been told. He doesn’t need medication to take a plea deal. Mail delay? Medicated? Dead?

If he’s there for actual psychiatric health reasons then they will screen any letters he tries to make and they will not send or receive anything that would add to his delusions. It’s normally they will ask him instead to write a journal that he shares with his psychiatrist.
