Yes, but they have to file them within the statute of limitations (rape is one without one) and if he's been locked up over a year the J&DR court can't hold him any more, because he would have spent enough time there to hit the max this court can sentence you to. Not sure about how defense-caused delays affect this (they do affect speedy trial related arguments).

So I'd anticipate that the one year boundary is where we're looking at something like a plea actually happening. Just letting Chris go convicted of nothing and with nowhere to go isn't really what anyone on either team wants. Even so the penalty of spending a year in jail and state-run mental institutions, losing his home, and basically being a pariah (even more than usual) is hardly without penalty.

This is not one of those things he can weasel out of on pure autism.

If there was some level of consent, questionable or otherwise, and Barb was found competent (we do not know this and two car crashes since say possibly not), it wouldn't be rape of course. It's still the most disgusting thing he's ever done.
They'll probably get him on elderly endangerment and buy him a Penthouse at Ttump Towers as punishment.

This isn't a thing like Lenny from Of Mice and Men, since Lenny was clearly lacking in the brain department but he was perfectly willing to work backbreaking labor - he simply fell afoul of the fact he couldn't comprehend his own strength and without supervision he was unwittingly too dangerous for his own good.

Chris isn't like Lenny, because he's not only mentally not all there, but he's also completely work adverse and moreover a fucking asshole.
It’s a shame Bob didn’t take Chris to a river to see the rabbits, and bring a Luger.

Ironically, I was actually thinking of the Sonichu kangaroo court as an example that does indeed show his capacity to understand legal proceedings. Sure, it’s very, very wrong in many ways but it’s a fantasy. In a loose sense, the framework of an actual court with a judge, charges, lawyers, and so on is there.
Chris would probably play along, but knowing him, he'll probably start changing the rules to best suit him.

The amazing thing is this is what, the third time that Chris has had charges against him and he still can't understand the legal system on a basic level?
That is amazing, but I would say the interesting part is that Chris no longer understands the legal system. The previous two times were no issue, but the situation has deteriorated to the point that they can't proceed.

Chris thought he'd only be in jail for a few months and then returned home...

Has everyone been lying to him the whole time or did Chris just choose not to believe them?

hmm...

I'm going to say both.

It's not that he ever wanted to understand it. His entire journey through the legal system was just something to do for him, he never took it seriously since he'd get let off without much punishment at all. Chris didn't even give two shits he was charged with felonies during the Snyder incident, more upset with Snyder than anything else. I mean, if anything, it gave him something else to do, but he just never cared.

I think this is the same thing. He might have been told "six months" or "not more than a year" and just went oh well, free room and board. If he was told that they couldn't hold him longer than that, what incentive was there for him to even care? Even as this was going on, he still firmly believed everything would go back to normal in February, like it had every other time he's been in trouble with the law.

That's what he was probably told.

Initially.

People do that: they tell you the bare minimum or half of the story if they're either unsure or don't want to cause an upset.

Chris is incredibly gullible and so it was easy to string him along.

It was always probably obvious that he was going to have to be there for at least a year; but why tell him if they didn't have to yet?

Chris isn't like Lenny, because he's not only mentally not all there, but he's also completely work adverse and moreover a fucking asshole. He will intentionally try to fuck somebody over (glitter bomb) if not outright attack them (mace incident) should he feel slighted and it does bear underscoring how he's essentially become a prophet of the cartoon apocalypse with this merge bullshit. He's repeatedly said how the Merge is going to kill a lot of people and he's all for it because it means he gets to ascend to true godhood. It's literally the stuff Olivia Pierce writes in the last of the Doom 2016 in-game lore about how everybody who she manipulated into helping her is damned to literal hell while she ascends to omnipotence (or so she thinks), and she doesn't give a fuck about the lives sacrificed in her wake.
Chris Is more along the lines of a much more autistic Alex Delarge as far as book character comparisons, albeit with none of the charisma, intelligence, wit, or evil charm that’s associated with the legendary villain. Constantly speaking in his own strange idiosyncratic CWCisms, ridiculous dress-sense, liking for ‘milky’ orange drinks  and complete psychopathic disregard for anyone other than himself. Strutting around CWCville with his Sonic Droogs prepared for ‘Da ultra violence’. I wonder if the ludivoco technique would actually work on Chris, forcing him to watch comstant Harry Potter, the new MLP series and videos of how successful Clyde cash is now would drive him mad and maybe finally make him shut the fuck up and rehabilitate him as a somewhat functioning being.

We can only fucking hope.

I read a thing about how it isn’t until around the age of 5 a child begins to distinguish between themselves and the world around them as separate things. Until that point, reality is pretty much malleable and subject to their own projection. It makes me wonder of Chris didn’t entirely develop beyond this stage, think of a 4 year old stamping on things screaming about how they’re a dinosaur after watching the land before time. That’s where Chris is at mentally, it’s just a lot more sophisticated.

At this point, I can’t imagine anybody being able to guide him back towards reality.

It would've been one of the best possible things to happen to Chris if Michael Snyder didn't drop the charges against him and he was forced to actually deal with real consequences for impulsive actions while he was still relatively young. Maybe the crafty jew was playing 5d chess and wanted to see how crazy chris could get , can't really blame him for not wanting to deal with this clown anymore than he had to.

But yet another example of how turn the other cheek philosophy is no longer good for society if it ever was;. Is it really worth the moral high ground of letting a tard run free for committing felony assault? I'd really love to know what Snyder thinks of the current situation but he's probably dead or quietly living the chris-free dream

They might make no Internet part of his release conditions.
This is an interesting scenario. We all know how weak willed Chris is, and he will demand to have both (see Julay saga). Luckily for Chris, he's adapted to writing letters, but that's because he knows they'll be released online. Chris would rather work than have no internet.

Can't you remember being four or five?

I remember being able to distinguish people by the age of two or three.

As far back as I have a memory.

I suppose for Chris it was probably more like 20.

I'm going to guess it's either not right or was some previous minor crash, or maybe even a reference to the Snyder incident.

Ah. So there wasn't anything after Barb challenged a Freightliner with her Caravan. (I choose you, Son-Chu! Freightliner uses 15 liter Cummins Diesel. It's super effective!)

Who knows what they were talking about, then. I would not be surprised if Barb's driving record is full of minor incidents. Her car insurance bill must be ridiculous.

I would say she's lost her license at this point, except this is rural bumfuck egypt Virginia, so who knows?

This bring up another point, though: how is Barb getting around for her daily dose of Sheetz and Goodwill? I think we would have a lot more insight on the state of Chris if we knew exactly how Barb is managing without him.

In some ways the really old ways of dealing with Teen or Adult special needs people was kinder as it just left them be didn't expect anything from them and they often found a nice to fit even if it was just herding pigs or carrying bricks etc

Or starving in the streets after having their ears and hands cut off for thieving. Kind or cruel, they at least had a solution instead of all the useless hand wringing and worrying we do today.

the upshot was there was no really good solution that could be come up with to how to deal with the handicapped or mentally ill using either school of thought and they where trying to work out a good way dealing with the situation.

Because natural law always preempts human laws, and you can neither legislate nor litigate reality away.

He's repeatedly said how the Merge is going to kill a lot of people and he's all for it because it means he gets to ascend to true godhood.

tl;dr: Chris is Nurgle.

OT -- just wanted to say that was an incredible read. thanks.

Wikipedia overthinks it a bit (or a lot) but basically Chris believes if he imitates the superficialities of the world he doesn't comprehend, he will achieve the things he wants from it. Thus getting laid and having a boyfriend-free-girlfriend will make him a Real Man™. Building a high school out of legos will undo all the misery he's had since graduation. Cutting a hole in his taint will magically grow into a vagina. And so on. Even his "lesbian tomgirl" bullshit is the same basic thinking. Instead of putting in the effort to become an actual adult man, he decided to give the universe a hint by mimicking the boyfriend-free-girl he desires.

I would say the interesting part is that Chris no longer understands the legal system.

He understands. He just doesn't care. Cartoon fantasies are more important to him than listening to the court which controls his fate.

I wonder if the ludivoco technique would actually work on Chris

Not necessary. There is a much simpler method, if only Bob had used it.

Spanking therapy with Ned Flanders.gif

if Michael Snyder didn't drop the charges against him and he was forced to actually deal with real consequences for impulsive actions while he was still relatively young.

Chris would still have refused to accept responsibility, and would only have ended up blaming and hating Snyder more.

When he met godbear, Chris was around 11 years old, and according to Bob, he was socially on the level of a 7 or eight year old. Plus, when Bob had said Chris had problems with finding out was Australia was and Chris' own problems due to face blindness, Chris could have used proper, professional special needs help, unlike Borb's good ol' fashioned mainstreaming.

Barb is a senile waifu who has no choice but to be cared by her estranged family who don't like her and who also have no choice unless they want to send her to some state institution.

And when would they ever let a relative of theirs end up there?
