I imagine its less of a "these people I don't like, like this thing, so I don't like it anymore." and more of that thing slowly changing because of influence from that circle of people, who in the end care less about the thing itself, and more about it aligning with what they think.

This sounds like when the left complain about the right turning pepe into a 'hate symbol' or whatever, if you don't like it then ignore it or do something about it. I'm not going to stop watching vtubers just because a bunch of redditors and twitter users are really exceptional.

As far as Rushia being told that the person who offended her was going to be fired, I'm going to take a wild guess and speculate that her perception of that event and what actually happened differs wildly.

If anything behind the scenes was serious than Kson would probably have elaborated with her and spilled some information but no she basically got her to shut up by offering to go out to eat.

Coco is the only person to leave Hololive with her channel intact, and she's still on good terms with everyone. She isn't going to spill shit, it's not worth her reputation, especially in a place like Japan. Connections are still important as a large indie, and nobody wants to work with someone who leaks.

The fact that I follow mostly Japanese content (also to self learn the language) is a good filter by itself with my circle of people. If there are undesirables I try to misdirect them to Sio's mahjong stuff (it's Riichi mahjong so it's difficult to get into, she's on pretty much permanent hiatus, and if they dig deeper they can get filtered by ec).

It doesn't work that way. PNGtubers are given leeway in a sense that it's not supposed to be their main model for 6 YEARS.

This is why people don't consider PNGtubers to be Vtubers, or why they only allow it in the first 6 months-1 year of their life, because it's highly implied that the PNG is only supposed to be temporary.

Heck, Nux doesn't even consider himself to be a Vtuber until Hololive boom happened.

So I'd been thinking since this post went up that the whole host club thing sounded vaguely familiar, and then I remembered we had that post at the start of last month about Matsuri having issues with host club photos and blackmail and shit.

A couple of days old now but I don't think anyone posted it here - seems like Nozomi went to a host club with a friend who leaked her Hololive identity to an acquaintance, and that acquaintance ended up blackmailing our menhera into paying 300k yen ($2.6k) to stop them from tweeting the photos they took- they did it anyway:
