Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

scrnli_3_22_2022_11-13-42 PM.png
That 79% looks so funny up there on the search page. I know it had the refund shenanigans, but this is pretty eye catching.

Manga in CG? Liam did his best to ruin it. He ruins everything he gets involved in, including the bigfoot community.

For Manga to be successful in CG I think it's probably best to just market your art as inspired by, rather than attempting to be a wholesale attempt at a Manga. Keung Lee did that, but his bonafides are in line with it. For an Orange idiot from Australia to screech about manga, that's completely different. Battle Maiden Knuckle Bomb was about as authentic an attempt at doing manga as you're likely to get from someone not living in Japan. It was designed and printed that way (and correctly at that) to purposefully feel like a Manga.

If you grew up watching Toonami that would probably just make you look like an idiot, or like Liam who also is an idiot.

If I recall, wasn't there a Cyberfrog "Manga" coming up? Lily's point of view or something?

unnamed (38).jpg

I don't recall this being received well. Haven't heard much of it since Frog's reveal actually. In fact this looks like something a clueless parent would bring home to their kid "The guy at the store said this was manga" who would no doubt be disappointed. Inspired by could work for something like this, but it looks more like a car insurance commercial style, than Manga.

Erin_Esurance_by_MiloSaberhagen.jpgscrnli_3_22_2022_11-35-16 PM.png

My point being it doesn't look manga, and probably shouldn't be marketed as such, unless it's Keung Lee producing it.

So Go all in on Manga, or inspired by? Is the answer somewhere in between? I don't really know. It's thankfully not as pervasive a trend as westerns, Vampires, and Werewolves at least.

It's been explained countless times now. I get the distinct impression you don't WANT to know the truth, because it's at odds with the typical anti-CG narrative (FROG MAN BAD).

Once more, with feeling...

All they had to do was hire a cheap-ass lawyer to sign onto @FROG's motion to dismiss. Something Ethan went out of his way to offer. Which he didn't have to do, but contrary to the narrative you want to spin, he knows what a piece of shit Preston is. They turned him down.

Knowing now that Vikki is practically destitute, it's possible they were so broke-ass poor they couldn't even afford Lionel Hutz. Fair enough, I suppose. But where the story really comes off the rails for me is the part where after @FROG is dismissed from the lawsuit (using the motion he offered them), they go in REALLY hard on him on their show and Twitter. For seemingly no reason whatsoever. Largely drugging up old shit from 2018 (i.e. Ribbitcoin). Most offensive of all, they don't even acknowledge the big help he offered. What should have been a time to show humility and plan out what they're gonna do next, turned into a sad display of them lashing out at people who actually tried to help them. To what end? I dunno. It doesn't make any sense. Unless they're just so full of anger over the bad decisions they made that they feel the need to swing at somebody.

Vikki becomes increasingly unhinged until she makes that vague tweet about IGG campaigns allegedly being in ToS violation, and then Dean and several others wash their hands of her. Dean and Vikki are now seemingly pointing fingers at each other as to how they got in this mess.

To the outside observer, it looks like Vikki has gone completely nutso, and is bound and determined that if CG wins against Preston (as they have, for the moment), and she loses (and she seemingly has, for the moment), she's gonna make it her mission in life to take down CG. It's childish. CG isn't public enemy #1. Preston is.

Now, as far as I'm concerned, you can either sit there and pound your chest and scream FROG MAN BAD, or you can accept the truth (even grudgingly) that FROG legitimately tried to help those two knuckleheads and they spit in his face. I don't think it would kill you to do that once.

Your call.

Anti-CG is a goddamned mess right now. Deleted accounts. Purged Discords. Broken friendships. Complete disarray. It's sad.

This is a joke, right? You're REALLY gonna go with the line that absolutely no blame should be apportioned to Dean or Vikki at all?

Again, I asked you this before, but you dodged the question: I donated to Dean. Did you?

You are a complete nutter if you think FROG is going to invite Preston on any of his shows after he sued FROG, along with that whole TM dispute bullshit. This is the dumbest thing I have read on KF in a long while.

You're not Steve Jobs. Your repeated attempts at a reality distortion field are pretty lame.

I PRAY nobody else here believes this, because that would show just how aloggy this thread has become. JFC.

It won't be CG content though. He's says he done with CG. And quite frankly, I don't blame him.

Only issue is that before doing ANYTHING else, he really should deal with Preston. It's the not dealing with adult matters like adults that has consistently bit them in the ass.
This is how I see this (and feel free to put "dumb" reactions below):

EVS, for all his faggotry, is one of the few people in CG that can sometimes act like a functioning adult. In his mind it probably was "The Enemy of my Enemy is my friend" so he offered to help Vikki and Dean. Also, it would give Preston a big L so he could revel in it, have Vikki and Dean owe him, so he could silence them in the future and, finally, it was in line with CG (degenerate tries to silence critics, like they did to Zack)

But I believe Vikki and Dean got Internet Star Fever: The lolsuit was their 15 minutes of fame and were about to milk them, so they doubled down on the CG material to grow their show.
Add in Testify HDs sperging over Vikki, the pressure from the lawsuit, being broke and the fact their show did not grow as much as they expected and you can see it turning nasty. Their beef with JDA alienated some of the people they associated with too.
So it all went off the rails and the show went down in flames. Maybe because Vikki was invested in CG and went all in, while Dean was not and distanced himself from it to see how Liam's flaggotry was wrong.

When Zack got off Twatter it was a sign he wasn’t made for the culture wars.
This is probably the smartest thing he did at the time, tbh. Granted he still replies in video form, but that at least brings in a few pennies for breakfast tacos.
I don't remember him saying this, but it does sound like a very Zack pronouncement. Kind of like when he saw his campaigns struggling and decided to make a video proclaiming "CROWDFUNDING IS DYING".

If we're to hold Zack to the "2000 backers" standard, he hasn't had a "successful" campaign since Impossible Stars back in October of 2020.
I remember he picked 2k because it would put him at like the top 10 using Diamond figures for graphic novels that month. He made a point about not caring so much about money as much as units sold.

Re lawsuit

I thought the Judge dropped it? Did Richard settle? When did that come out?

I think CG is a movement that mainly appeals to people are are upset with the sorry ass state of the western comic industry, and who prefer western comics. The people that like manga better can just jump ship to, well... actual manga. Way easier.

Well yeah, if one thinks (western American) comics are fucked but also accept manga as an acceptable alternative, it begs the question of why even bother with crowdfunding and not just buy manga that's available everywhere at very low prices instead?

Most manga creators involved in CG like Nyriam, Keung Lee and Quaff I figure just see it as a means to network and promote their creator-owned work. They go on a Comicsgate stream, some of the viewers get to know them and if they like what they see decide to give their project a shot, even if it's something they may not normally be into. There's not a lot to it. Liam and RGE on the other hand are totally capable of the mild cognitive dissonance needed to argue that the path to fixing western comics is for everyone to buy crowdfunded manga instead.

I dunno how much involvement CG had with Blade Devil, but if I were in @FROG's shoes, I would absolutely try to claim it on some level.
RagingGoldenEagle happens to be on the other side of the first schism in CG, the one between former pros and independent creators. One side thinks the guys who formerly worked for Marvel & DC should be heralded as Comicsgate Royalty and possess the insight and experience to correctly identify where the mainstream went wrong, the other holds their ilk responsible for why western comics got co-opted by woke people and were made so shit in the first place; the future is in the new indie creators who were never corrupted by the false, unworking ideas of the old guard. Both sides have had their share of success and failures at this point and the barrier between "old" and "new" has grown increasingly blurred over the years as many new creators like Michael Bancroft, Mandy Summers, Jon del Arroz and Narwhal become established and indistinguishable from the pros, as least as far as status goes.

Still, RGE regularly and generously uses his platform promotes smaller creators and campaigns so whatever his beliefs or however little he interacts with the big players in CG, I definitely consider him Comicsgate

Re lawsuit

December 2020. Richard and Waid made a confidential agreement that resulted in Meyer voluntarily withdrawing the lawsuit completely.

Richard's content changed after the lawsuit ended too, he stopped going hard at the woke pros like Waid and started praising things he used to rail against. I have no doubt it was part of his agreement to end the suit. Now there is little difference between Richard and the people he used to criticize. He became everything he hated.

You wouldn't. Unless you maybe worked in comics. Then being replaced by the Japanese/Korean/Chinese sucks and you'd want to butt in to get your own piece of that sweet waifu pie.

Of course, the real answer is that American Comics are their own thing and that you can't separate substance from mechanics; both of which are what Eastern comics are doing better.

Could it be that these new creators are becoming tainted because of their close interactions with and CG's permissive view of established creators poor behavior.

Brings me back to this nugget.

One thing is for certain, nobody is going to mention anything about late & unfulfilled books anymore, they will be too scared. Mission accomplished..

Lost in the implosive tard warz season finale was that Dean and Vikki were on friendlyish terms with CG outside of JDA until they brought light to how extremely late CG books were.

Now with Vikki's impressive immolation and Dean having decided to run away it looks like all rabble rousing in the CG slums has been ceased. The leaders are gone, their own flaws tainting actual consumer rhetoric. It's a fitting end, with JDA having outlived his enemies to become duchess of the CGslums.

The future Comicsgate deserves?

Allow me to reiterate. @FROG can't raise the dead. For all his abilities, good heartedness, promotion, time and effort he put into rehabing you after your idiocy, he can't work miracles. You pissed off too many people and your books simply don't stand up to many others in CG. People made a choice and chose to take their money elsewhere.

i thought his Secret Comics Presents number 1 was one of the better books that came from CG.

Considering the category of "new creators" consists of not just good eggs like the Iconic Comics fellows but characters like Cecil, TUG and others of questionable behavior while "established creators" includes the like of Graham Nolan, Shelby Robertson and Eric Canete, I'd argue the issue isn't as clear cut as either side would like to claim, and the whole divide is just a baldface contest for authority. Not to mention the indie comics scene as a whole is a greasy shitshow rife with grifting, as the IndieVolt debacle or the class action lawsuit against Action Lab Comics amply show.

Yesterday was quiet in the realm of Comicsgate, with Frog hosting a 5 hour stream to sell some "classic Narwhal art" (as humbly described by Narwhal himself) as the new creator's campaign closed out. At around the 4 hour 10 minute mark and raising around $5060, our host decides to shake things up from the scintillating fare that is Eric Weathers, Gabe Eltaeb and Narwhal to bring on youtuber Vito Gesuldi who has been buzzing around CG streams lately. Vito, best described by his two defining attributes of being morbidly obese and willing to say anything or take any position if it gets him attention, was held to task by Frog and TUG by doing indefensible things like flagging the Friday Night Tights crew for hosting Alex Jones first and admitting to being a pedophile a distant second. While Frog and TUG prepared to take the brave and daring position of being against pedophilia, Vito just sucked all the oxygen out of the room by yammering a thousand miles a minute about nothing until he was thrown off.

Waiiiiitttt...hold up. That Vito?

Shit, are Frog and Matt looking for their next Keyfabe badguy now? Because Vito will love the attention.

could judy be that after covid the industry's is being 100% funded by Disney/Warner and have easily lost money, even taking into account they hire bums to write for Ketchup packages.
December 2020. Richard and Waid made a confidential agreement that resulted in Meyer voluntarily withdrawing the lawsuit completely.
Sounds like Waid settled tbh. The industry is dead and considering that Waid has wrote a few classics like Kingdom Come and Babel, and I bet it's his shit attitude that prevented him from ever working at the Marvel Studios. His hiring of Zaid and trying to fight jurisdiction instead of the issue tells me he knows he fucked up and the plan was to drain Meyers resources.

This is how I see this (and feel free to put "dumb" reactions below):
No dumb reaction. I think your theory is perfectly reasonable.

Like I said, I'm not gonna pretend to know why they went off the rails, I just think it's silly for anybody to sit here and pretend they didn't. I also think there's a "credit where credit is due" moment here for @FROG. He tried to help, and I want to acknowledge that.

Now with Vikki's impressive immolation and Dean having decided to run away it looks like all rabble rousing in the CG slums has been ceased. People are still gonna laugh at late comics and other CG shenanigans. That's what this thread is for.

All that really appears to have happened here is that one of the biggest anti-CG channels seems to have burned itself to the ground due to a series of highly questionable decisions, and getting way too personally invested in this shit (a cautionary tale, perhaps).

And let's be honest...

1648070084577.png

...it was never big. Non-SJW CG criticism is a very small niche on the Internet. A very distant third behind "Hail Comicsgate!" and "OMG! You guys are Nazi bigots!" (AKA "mainline" shitlib anti-CG). So much so that it was clear they were TRYING to branch out into general Internet drama like Ethan Ralph before it all came crumbling down.

Waiiiiitttt...hold up. That Vito?
Yes. Dick Masterson co-host. Belle Delphine bathwater vaper.

Mark my words, he's gonna get a thread fairly soon. The people in the Gunt subforum absolutely loathe him.

Shit, are Frog and Matt looking for their next Keyfabe badguy now?
I'd be more concerned with people yelling at @FROG to get Vito's ass off the show before a riot breaks out in chat. I don't think Vito is a good "kayfabe heel." A lot of people seem to unironically believe he's a POS and a possible pedophile.

30% of his videos is him bitching about Vita Ayola. He even dropped the "they" at some point and instead uses only "she".

We all like what we like so I cant tell you you're wrong. What I can say from a sales perspective is that his work isn't good enough to overcome his behavior. Or attract enough new readers to lift him out of where he's been despite all the attempts people have made on his behalf.

Within CG, there are literally dozens of better quality options every day of the week to back. Could be from ex mainstream guys, first timers or something in-between. Since entertainment $$$ is a finite resource for most people, most have chosen to avoid him and go with better products. Why pay to give second chances when people out there are more deserving of a first look? They didn't call you and/or the people you associate with everything but a white man until the sales fell off a cliff.

That's the calculation many have made.

Expanding @Mister Dongs' summary:

Supposedly... and this should be taken with a huge grain of salt.... Vito is gonna do a book and "save CG."

At first he was obviously trolling. Claiming he was a gonna do a prequel to Cuties called "Cuties Zero."

BUT then he seems to shift gears and says that there is actually a book of some sort in the works that's not that.

If that's true, and it's always difficult to tell with this faggot, God help us all.

At 3:53:46 @FROG announces that he lost 50 viewers the second Vito showed up. LOL.
