RWBY - The Hindenburg on which Rooster Teeth rests its hopes, dreams and future

And how would you do that?
I wouldn't.
Lines being slightly different to the originals and scenes with Weiss & Yang talkings, which may not even be in the recap episodes.
It seems pretty clear that the Yang and Weiss talk is about her blowout with Blake (especially since the trailer seems to be exclusively V1 and V2), but it could be from something else. There are also dialogue changes with Ruby and Weiss during the exam.

its best to simply ignore the canon and make up your own AU bullshit.
Making up your own AU bullshit generated more clusterfucks to laugh at than it did fix any underlying issue with the IP. Not to mention that the spinoff is playing it safe by sticking the series between v1 and v2, the only volumes where the canon is still barebones but solid.

Its between V2 and V3, V1 and V2 are being recapped in the first two episodes. Making up your own AU bullshit means you don't have to care about the already thoroughly fucked canon.

Just because V1 and V2 don't contradict that much (mainly because there is very little to contradict) doesn't negate that there are 6 other volumes that contradict everything that sticking to canon would only thoroughly fuck up.

I want to make a couple very important points here.
1) I've been sent a Japanese article that details the injuries, which include a broken arm and broken tooth. Police arrested the husband after they saw the injuries after an argument between the couple.
3) Abuse victims often recant out of fear and/or dependency, so saying "the wife didn't press charges" doesn't exonerate someone, even if there's nothing afterwards. It's a very unfair assumption that someone just "made it up," especially when there are clear significant injuries.

Translation sent to me:
Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office drops charges against writer Ubukata Tow, wife does not want him punished On April 15, the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office dropped the charges against writer Ubukata Tow (real name Fujino Mineo), 38, who was arrested on suspicion of inflicting injury on his wife for domestic violence. The district attorney stated that he took into consideration the fact that his wife did not wish to be punished. Ubukata and his wife, then 39, got into an argument at their condominium in Minato Ward, Tokyo, around 7:00 p.m. on August 21, and Ubukata punched her in the face, breaking her front tooth. He was arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department for causing injuries such as a broken arm. Ubukata has written several books, including "Tenchi Meisatsu," a chronicle of the life of the man who achieved the reformation of the calendar, and "Mitsukuni Den," which revamped the image of Mitsukuni Tokugawa, the second lord of the Mito clan.

3) Trying to play detective about this rando's life like you're in fucking Ace Attorney makes you look like the most disconnected moron alive, and in this circumstance, incredibly ignorant about DV cases. To wit:

4) Mangaka have unfortunately gotten away with worse, so it's not a fight worth fighting really.

5)
Strange, Arryn threw a temper tantrum about alleged abuse that happened years ago involving people she will never meet but said nothing after somebody that ran the company she worked for was arrested after brutally abusing his wife for years.

bart.reallymakesyouthink.gif
Definitely odd, but Arryn and the VP of Product and Engineering did not work at the company at the same time, and he was promptly arrested.

She has a point though, most of the critics of this retarded show are utter weebs who are no better than Monty and the current writers. I'm more than willing to bet every vital organ inside my body that if this gets released, RWBYtubers will suck its dick no matter how utter garbage the writing quality will be just because it's Japanese.
They're already on it. I haven't clicked on this but I have a feeling that it's Adel's monotone voice trying to make jokes about how a carbon-copy of Weiss's personality is suddenly better because it's in the most generic anime style ever.

What the fuck does "Canon adjecent" even fucking mean??? Having a completely different story after the first two episodes is absolutely not canon by any description. Just be honest and say this is just an AU already.

Hell, it should have just embraced not being canon, because the fucking canon sucks ass. So either this is a blatant lie about it being "faithful" to the clusterfuck canon, or its actually faithful to the clusterfuck. I would like it to be the former in all honesty.

Just so sick of RT trying to dance around the truth with these long ass "emotional" corporate posts.
Based on the description it sounds like it falls into the same category the Evangelion Rebuilds, which is neither a sequel, a remake, a reboot nor an AU. The best way to describe it is maybe like different routes of a visual novel.

Well that's the thing, sticking it near the first two (arguably three) volumes is the best they can get if they want to it be branded official while also being "faithful" since there's little to contradict and a lot to flesh out. Look, there's no bigger justification sticking to the canon than that, and the "faithful to canon" bit is more for marketing than anything else, They can make an AU or a reboot if they wanted to but RWBY as a franchise is as profitable as participating in a MLM, because there is no one left besides most of us in this thread and the spergs on reddit and tumblr still care about the shitshow at this point.

Sorry, did I miss a fucking memo or when was alt universes/multiverse frowned upon? Why even shy away from it in this new age of comicbook movies? Just fucking call it Timeline B or something, I don't give a shit, but don't just create new words that don't have any meaning by themselves just to make yourself sound more special.

Well let’s see.

Critter is upset that it’s another thing in the franchise based in the Beacon arc and hopefully something will be different.

Adel isn’t too impressed by the animation, and he hates the designs for Blake and Jaune and calls Weiss an Esdeath steal. He’s also worried about potential pacing issues.

Media seems pretty excited, but he’s not over the moon or anything. He also talks about the Arryn drama and calls out CJ for trying to start shit.

Also, Celtic did a stream but I’m not in the mood to talk about that.

I can think of a couple reasons why they would do this.

A: Try to preserve the shock factor when shit goes bananas and the timeline divergences.

B They want to do A and at the same time, have half assed cake to placate their super sensitive fanbase. (Japan likes to do this too sometimes. I most notably remember they said the Code Geass Resurrection movie was AU, even though the divergent character and elements are so paper thin you could easily ignore them for the 1 min they were on screen.) Basically: It's all just a convenient excuse to not completely piss off autistic fans.

C They'll pull a twilight and have some timey whammy bull crap where they undo all the bad stuff that happens or it never occurs at all.

Whatever the hell is going on, it should be good as long as they didn't give em a tight leash. If they gave em a playground to run around in and do whatever they want, it'll be fine.

To throw in my 2 cents. It seems a little odd and vain for that guy to write a book about his 9 day stint in prison. However, I have no understanding of what Japanese prison is like or the contents of the book.

And Stuff like Vic's case, has definitely encouraged me to presume innocent until proven guilty.

All of these people are lolcows of different varieties. Unless they say something notably funny it's not worth giving them the time of day. Critter and Twiins have huge egos with little backing, Adel thinks tiddie gachas are the peak of media, and Media might actually have the brain of a 12-year-old.

My guess for the new spinoff, assuming Madoka Man has his hands on the story, is that we'll get some kind of "deconstruction," but it'll be mangled by Ubukata, since that's what happened with Psyho Pass. It'll balance out into one of those clusterfucks where story episodes are bracketed by "fun" episodes filled ear-piercing moe girl laughs. The latter of these will produce roughly 7,250 fanfics, half from tumblr women writing overblown slowburn Blake/Yang romance, and half from coomer twitter men pretending that their futa harem piss kink foot fetish fics are wholesome and quirky.

A whole book is definitely weird, and depending on its contents it could drive him further to guilt, since abusers tend to have certain kinds of personalities. But again, not our job.

"Innocent until proven guilty" applies to formal law, and with the aforementioned complications of DV cases, that becomes unfair. Vic's case may have ended with no conviction, but that doesn't mean nothing happened that was creepy or wrong. It's impossible to prove or disprove allegations of things with no evidence, like being groped at a convention 15 years ago or whatever. Nothing about that went to court, but when Vic sued people for defamation, the judge sided with the defendants, if you want to play that game. A much more serious case would be like defending Ryan Haywood because nothing technically illegal happened as far as I remember, but no one is going to want to associate with the guy who went after mentally ill college girls with no protection while married with kids.

Oh man, I worded that badly. No im for vic 100% I just mean his case and all the lies around it have made me perceptive on how easy it is to fuck over an innocent man.

You misread. I was making a point about how even if there's no trial, it doesn't mean someone is totally innocent. Innocent of proveable crime doesn't mean innocent from past misconduct. It's easy to fuck over an innocent man for sure, but it's no so black and white as a courtroom verdict. You can be a slimebag while committing no crime.
The venom in this is like that of a cone snail. Insanely potent and unneeded but kind of funny because of it. Woman says "hey, the allegations against someone directly involved in a project I'm part of remind me of my own trauma, and that sucks." This dude goes "excuse me, you're stupid and whiny, none of those allegations are even proven!" Then when she says "I'm going to do the project but donate my paychecks to charity," he switches to "how fucking dare you lie about people's trauma/past!"

This is the exact kind of self-involved, self-important, inconsistent screeching I'd 100% expect of an "aspiring fantasy author."

There seems to be a real push internally at RT for the showrunners to include more gaps and spaces for tie-in media, they mentioned in one of the RTX streams or something that they put the timeskip in V7 in specifically so that they could slot the new game into the canon. For some reason they're really scared about allowing tie-in media to be its own thing, thinking that it not being canon will keep the main audience from watching it. But I don't think this has ever really been the case for anything, so I chalk it up to RT being RT and thinking on a completely different realm of reality.
It's taking place between V2 and V3, you should actually read what the post was saying.
That doesn't explain why Blake suddenly has a tail. It's just an AU thing, who cares? Why even mention canonocity at all? I'm with Chilson on this one, the post was retarded.

There's a running trend with the anti-rwby sphere that they not only hate the show, but absolutely despise all the people involved, right up to an d including the fucking VAs who are only involved insofar as they read bad dialogue off of a piece of paper. Floof artist is another one, the guy got clowned on by Barbara once at a con and has made it his personal mission to be a snide prick to her at every available opportunity since. There's a definite level of jealousy that seems to seep into all these people, they aren't very talented and they project their insecurities onto the cast and crew because RWBY is terrible but managed to be successful anyway. It's like kryptonite to self-obsessed weirdos who feel entitled to the success of their creative endeavors.

It really is a near jihad-level fanatacism, and you're probably right that it's rooted in a lot of jealousy. Every dedicated RWBY critic I know of is some sort of failed artist, the type who believes success should just come to them because they say so, regardless of skill, effort, or willingness to learn. Celtic, CJ, and Media are all over 26, all wishing to be professional writers, but have yet to make any sort of real impact in their lives, or even want to leave their parents' homes. They all have their RWBY rewrites where they get to lord over the one thing bad enough for them to have some kind of power over, whether that's true or not. It's like an autistic kid bullying a more autistic kid then getting furious when his victim remains happy and successful, furious to the point where he hates all his victim's associates, too, even down to the teachers who like him.

But when those "aspiring writers" are faced with the actual challenges involved with honing an artistic craft, they fold. They don't read more than manga and fanfiction, so they don't even have a basis to aspire to. They think they can just know, because they're special and uneducated like Monty was, so they can be just like him. They claim to want critique, but can't comprehend why anything they did could be fundamentally bad. So they hide behind the usual excuses when asked where their writing is: it's such a long series, there's so much lore, I'm still outlining, etc etc. Even non-writer Floof has a similar issue. Though he goes to school for animation, the homework projects he's uploaded are lackluster, and the advice he gives is uneducated. The arrogant simply can't be forced to learn.

Side note: Holy shit, I did not realize CJ accused Arryn of lying about her own abuse when there's "no evidence," as though abuse can always be empirically proven. Big talk from a man who broke up with his girlfriend because he couldn't help but m'lady cosplayers.
