SCP Foundation - Creepypasta with roid rage - now ITT: SCP fans

I hope talking about the backrooms isn't off topic.

They don't properly gatekeep shit either. The only reason its still somewhat a bearable community is because its is in its infancy; give it a couple years, it will devolve into something similar too the SCP Foundation.
This might have already happened.

It's kind of funny, the backrooms were a "every room safe space" in the literal sense. The reason the original backrooms copypasta was freaky was the idea of being in essentially an endless empty beige/yellow officespace kinda area, with literally nothing and nobody around. The shit with building off that by adding entities or monsters or shit takes away the whole aspect of just complete isolation and deprivation of any real sensation other than hearing faint electric hums from the lights and maybe someone or something else that got trapped there who's starving and will resort to eating you in a mad attempt to survive. The big scary aspect is that there is literally NOTHING there but an endless string of vacant rooms and hallways. Why take shit interesting as that and turn it into basically the minotaurs fucking maze?
This was my take as well. I was against the inclusion on monsters, but the original implied a monster.

However, I understand why monsters and levels were added. There isn't much you can do with the "walk around yellow hallways forever" idea. Plus linking up liminal spaces into a surreal connected reality is an interesting one. The idea of "liminal spaces" is one I've been interested in before it had a name.

Recently I accepted the addition of monsters and have been watching YouTube lore videos. There's some fun stuff in the lore, but then it doubles back to stupid. The problem is there seems to have been a SCP-like fight and split, with the backrooms wikis allowing lots of low quality junk, and over explaining things to point of removing the mystery. There's even factions and cities full of people. Completely eliminating the horror element.

The convenience mentality is demonstrated by Lucky O Milk. I could buy Almond Water as a weird drink that appears in vending machines in the backrooms. What I don't buy is soy-milk magically appearing as an alternative for people with nut allergies.

Plus dumb memes are already "canon"

So they turned it into an infinite Ikea knockoff, then? Damn.

Come to think of it, isn't the Infinite Ikea basically the Backrooms before the Backrooms?

Similar concept, but the backrooms was different initially with there being nothing there. Infinite Ikea is literaly as it says, an infinite ikea with weird alien employees that get angry and try to fucking kill your ass if you don't get out before closing time. The problem being nobody can find the fucking exit so you have fucking ikea cities and colonies made out of random as ikea shit.
Now that the backrooms is fucking "ooh monstermay kill you also there's people living inthere and chugging soy milk from vending machines!" it's now just infinite ikea 2 but slightly shittier cause there's no fucking infinite food courts the staff keep stocked well.
Unless the infinite ikea lore has also been tampered with like a lot of weird pocket dimension shit online in case well fuck.

@The Lawgiver beat me to it. I can see the similarities, and while Infinite Ikea doesn't have the liminal space element. Though the similarities between the two are the problem. The Backrooms shouldn't have been Infinite Ikea-like.

Another SCP that is very Backrooms esc is SCP-470. An abandoned office that acts as a hub to abandoned places.

Infinite Ikea doesn't have the liminal space element.
I haven't been to an ikea since the 2000s I think but unless they changed how they're laid out the things are chock fucking full of those fucking "liminal spaces" all hallways and arrows pointing places between the furniture displays.

It predates the liminal spaces meme. The joke is that IKEA apparently has intentionally labyrinthine layouts where the exit isn’t easily found in order to show off more displays.

Dunno if it’s even a joke when it’s literally true. Even using the ACTUAL definition of “labyrinthine”, which differs from “mazelike” as labyrinths have a single single coiling path (much like IKEA’s showroom) while mazes have multiple branching paths and dead ends.

I feel like a lot of scps could benefit from having more of a different plot. It seems like it’s always
1. A) Item initially discovered by foundation B) taken from minor organization like GAW (which people don’t know how to write but that’s another discussion)
2. Contained in site (I will bet you it’s site 15 or 16)
3. It escapes due to negligence and then is recontained
Why can’t we have more options to shake it up. For example let’s look at probably the easiest major organization to write, serpents hand. Why not have the item be taken off of a serpents hand infiltrator or have it deliberately stolen by them rather than a organic escape. These aren’t lore breaking concepts to write but can add so much more variety.
But here comes the issue, no one approves anything for the wiki if it breaks the foundation-foundation-foundation plot line anymore even if it makes sense. You can get some real dogshit approved if it doesn’t break formula, but you don’t see anomaly pages that are focused around other factions anymore and it just gets stale.

You're quite right actually. If you have a nut allergy in the backrooms you should die. I would make the world personally more like where the weak die strong survive.

"Well well well, if it isn't the consequences of my own actions."

Get fucking smoked, you loser. It took over 4 years for this to be addressed but it finally happened.

Edit: Peep the "previously seen" evidence. Nice one, sitting on your own hands while this guy did whatever. Better late then never I suppose.

Better late than never I suppose.

Now place your bets on which other high-profile member also turns out to be a sex pest that they choose to do nothing about.
