i loved the first game and have some good memories of playing X. seeing two was a turn off and three seems to follow that formula.

For about 90% of Xenoblade X ghost walker infinite overdrive spam is much better then doing basically anything else in X, which is why I don't like X very much at all as far as combat goes. Because I accidently discovered that strategy within the first 10 hours once I saw how much the dual blade/dual gun class could spam overdrive infinitely and just not die. I remotely recall literally chasing down a giant spaceship boss in the story on foot because running around spamming ghost walker as I pewpew with two pistols was more effective and safer then using my giant robot. XCX is a funny game. The thing that amazes me is that I played Xenoblade 1 with Sharla since I thought her heals were mandatory rather than use the linking system. Then in Xenoblade X I don't use any healer because I thought it was the same as 1, only to discover that using a healer is far better.
I liked X for the setting, having a sci fi game centred on a single large sandbox with giant robots is one of the things we don't have anymore despite being cool as shit. The exploration in the game was amazing, especially once you could fly and see the really fucked up areas. For about 90% of Xenoblade X ghost walker infinite overdrive spam is much better then doing basically anything else in X, which is why I don't like X very much at all as far as combat goes. Frankly, I don't even know what my party members did because whoever you play as is far more important due to you being able to properly use overdrive to win, especially in the story fights.
I liked how Addam would quickly go from Zeke tier goofball to disapointed and serious dad the moment Mythra does or says something stupid. Was playing Xenoblade DE for the first time in about 10 years. Then my copy of Torna turned up in the mail yesterday. I forgot jusy how different X1 and X2 were. Afdam, to me, sounds like Matt Berry and the thought of himin a Xenoblade game is hilarious.
Thinks the Mary Sues started with Xenoblade. If this is just more of Xenoblade 2 then fuck that. The gameplay is too much of a slog even when the story was good, let alone to experience more Super Saiyan Mary Sue garbage.
Rex is a pretty whatever character overall, but that boy is not a Mary Sue/Gary Stu because he outright gets told that his starting personality is fucking stupid a couple of times and he has to change. He's basically told by the midway point that his upbeat personality is stifling his waifu sword from being able to talk to him, because he is so literally retardedly optimistic that he can't understand what she's going through so she just gives up trying to talk to him which causes a number of problems later. Even his charging forward like a moron gets called out twice and ends up making things worse for the person he's supposed to be trying to help.If this is just more of Xenoblade 2 then fuck that. By "Super Saiyan Mary Sue" i mean the blonde that comes out of nowhere and utterly decimates the villains, not the kid who gets killed like 30 minutes in. Rex's problem is he's so whatever to the story that in the time i put in(about 30 hours, got to his hometown so it was fairly far along in the story) that it felt like he took a backseat to everyone else. Hell, the only reason the villains ever give a half a shit about him is because he has pyra/mythra. Kind of like xenosaga where the brown haired chick gets upstaged by the waifubot practically as soon as the game starts.Rex is a pretty whatever character overall, but that boy is not a Mary Sue/Gary Stu because he outright gets told that his starting personality is fucking stupid a couple of times and he has to change. Yeah it is kind of obnoxious, doesn't help that the monado is about the only way for your team to do damage to the mechons for so much of the game.Meanwhile Shulk by the end of the game becomes literally fucking God and the definer of the laws of the next universe. The whole entire fucking plot almost solely resolves around him, so much so that some of his friends effectively ask "Why the fuck am I even here?". Specifically Dunban and Reyn. The former gets to be cucked by Shulk after Shulk gets the Monado, and is forever reminded that he isn't the hero of the story anymore and losing his arm is for effectively nothing. The latter kind of loses his role as "The Muscle" of the group because the Monado is so stupid powerful compared to Reyn just being the tough guy with muscles and a big shield.
Shulk is by far the better main character for many reasons, but almost everything important in XC1 revolves around him and the plot actually doesn't work at all without him because of the Monado being tied to him. The Monado is even more of a centralizing plot device then the Aegis sword, because the Monado is just that crazy powerful and important.
Oh you're talking about Mythra. Yeah I liked them even less, until Torna added some good context for Mythra to better explain to ptsd angle they try to sell in the main game. Rex's problem is that he's very typical on purpose, because the writer wanted to tell a more classical shounen story with a more generally positive outlook on things (because he rightfully thought Japan was depressing as fuck), and not the existential murder hell shitshow that is the majority of XC1.By "Super Saiyan Mary Sue" i mean the blonde that comes out of nowhere and utterly decimates the villains, not the kid who gets killed like 30 minutes in. I'm probably in the minority here, but I really loved this aspect of the game. It's just scratching that Saturday morning anime feel that's not around anymore.wanted to tell a more classical shounen story with a more generally positive outlook on things
I don't think its terrible in concept, I love me some Shounen shit especially older age stuff like One Piece and Yu Yu Hakusho, but I just don't think Xenoblade 2's story is finished so it feels eh. It tends to introduce things then just drop them half way through or resolve them really fast (my biggest example is Morag feels like she's really unfinished and had to be force wrapped up for the sake of development time), which is really crazy when XC2 has last I looked about 11 hours of cutscenes. I also think Rex and the Aegis duo needed more time to properly talk to each other when Rex isn't being a retard, to better sell the relationship that they want to sell, as I feel the Aegis duo accept him far too easily.I'm probably in the minority here, but I really loved this aspect of the game. Technically, dropping important shit is a thing old anime did constantly. But yeah, some plot elements seem to be dropped, like the body of samurai guy's previous master. And general character development (besides Nia and the Noppon).I don't think its terrible in concept, I love me some Shounen shit especially older age stuff like One Piece and Yu Yu Hakusho, but I just don't think Xenoblade 2's story is finished so it feels eh. I like XC1 more because it felt like a 90s era anime done well, it was violent without being 2edgy4me, it felt as raw as you can get when your protagonist has a lightsaber, it was really fucked up a handful of times while not being so bleak, and it still had that sort of hopeful "If we stand together we can do anything" energy that is used a lot in Shounen anime. It also just felt more finished which is a nice plus too when comparing the two.
They shoulda made those lips bright pink and his skin jet bl-- blue.
See, there's your problem. ONLY 30 hours? You've barely started the game. Bruh, you gotta put in like 100+.in the time i put in(about 30 hours
