I was a straight C student, I got a C in everything every time. I didn’t study a lot and didn’t care. I used to think I was a special boy who was smart and slipped through the cracks because of apathy or something.

I was wrong, 99% of people who believe this are wrong. I just didn’t apply myself, I didn’t try and I didn’t know how academically gifted I was or could be.

I tried in college and I struggled, but I graduated with a good degree. I matured and actually tried for once and in doing so I realised there are levels to everything, I struggled deeply with advanced mathematics and other people just breezed through it, they were the smart people.

TL;DR

Not everyone who gets bad grades is stupid, but you probably are and you don’t know if you’re smart or not unless you apply yourself. There’s always that one in a million kid who’s gifted but it isn’t you and it certainly isn’t Patrick Tomlinson.

To be fair, you really shouldn't fail High School for any reason as long as you show up to class and put in the minimum effort on your work. You almost kind of have to try to flunk a class.

I'm going to go conspiracy theorist here. @SomervilleDan said they got the report cards legally. We know that the pests had been engaging in group texts with members of Fat's family.

It's possible that they also texted Fat's family individually. We know that they confronted Fat's family with his failings. I theorize that one of these conversations touched a nerve, not against the pests, but against Fat. I theorize that one of Fat's family members sent the report cards to the pests. I'm going to guess it's the brother because of Fat's later comment about him to Somerville Dan.

Knowing how Fat has to be better than everyone, even his Twitter friends, I can only imagine what it was like growing up with him as a brother. He must have been constantly belittling his sibling to salve his own ego. The brother likely gets great satisfaction watching Fat today blunder about from one obvious trap to the next. Watching his childhood stupidity get exposed is probably an act of healing.

I do wonder if Pat was the golden/favorite child. Classic narcissistic move to favor one child over the other(s). It harms all of the children - the golden child is likely to turn out entitled and narcissistic themselves and the unfavored children (scapegoats) often have very low self worth. The scapegoats get blamed for everything, even (and sometimes especially) when it is the golden child's fault. Oftentimes the relationship between siblings is strained for life. Kids can always tell who the favorite is.

I have my doubts that this is anything requested and sent recently. The ink is very faded and there’s an official stamp on it. As far as I understand if you request an official transcript in the year 2022 they don’t dig up an ancient piece of paper, blow the dust off and photo copy it. He is really losing his mind over these past couple weeks. Losing the lawsuit and restraining order, on the hook for thousands in legal fees he doesn't have the money to pay, has put the SFWA in a bad spot where they will now also owe a couple thousand dollars, and now someone leaking his high school report card that shows he was a terrible student. His only hope now is getting law enforcement involved which seems unlikely considering that nobody seems to really be sending him death threats which is why only now he keeps mentioning them since everything else has failed. It's going to be really interesting to see what happens after the next Quash, but he's been having a non-stop meltdown for what seems like the past couple weeks now.

I wonder why the SFWA is risking sanctions for the sake of a freak like Fatty. Are there things in the discoverable records that would reflect badly on them? Pepperoni purchases perhaps?
