Literally no Blobby comic ever quite lands. Even when this dead pink fish and its friends aren't busy threatening people disproportionally over microaggressions, it's just an endless loop of mediocre pity parties where OP wants to whine about something but can't bring herself to fully tard rage about it. Or it's boring asf "MUH GAYS LAWL UWU DESU" shit.

And on top of that all the art is just so bland, flat, and has no sort of charm or interest points whatsoever. It makes it extremely hard to keep reading because it's just so fucking boring.

As others have said, it's a dead blobfish, but I come with examples that I suggest would be good additions to the OP, for context.

Live blobfish, in their proper habitat or simulated in an aquarium

They still look weird but are recognizable as a live animal, and more importantly a fish.

On another note, dead blobfish.

One that appears to be dead yet still undersea:

Not only do they expand and turn into a gelatinous slab of meat, their fins collapse and they commonly turn tan/pink while they are grey underwater. And as other parts of them expand, their nose also strangely deforms more than the rest of them. Finally, they lose the notable spikes that living examples have. The character of blobby is so obviously based off of a dead specimen that it isn't even funny. But it kind of is.

Edited order and image zoom/orientation to better compare.

I'm planning to add it to OP

That’s also something I don’t understand. The blobfish was originally a meme so that’s why it’s being used. However, if they could make a huge chunk of fish flesh cute, couldn’t they also make the actual living fish cute too due to the art?

Exactly. Live blobfish are pretty cute as they are.
They're just sitting around.
Honestly, a dead blowfish despite being memed for the commonly seen fatty picture looks even worse in most situations than the famous photo(s).

Uncute was founded in New York City by Zack Buchman and Blobby & Friends is brought to life by a team of New York and Los Angeles creatives with consciences.

A bona fide autodidact, Zack spent much of his
adolescence secluded in his bedroom, teaching
himself the principles of classic animation. At the
age of 17 he sold his first cartoon concept,
which led to the creation of a few award-winning
animated shorts.

Zack quickly grew restless with classic animation.
"If only there was a way to make the characters
move without having to draw millions of frames!"

So, at the ripe old age of 19, Zack moved to New
York, where his idea to design puppets was first
conceived. “How can it be any simpler” he thought,
“when all you need to do is stick your hand inside to
bring the character to life?” A few months later, the
Furry Puppet studio was born.

These days, Zack approaches his work as a
designer from an animator’s perspective,
constantly attempting to challenge the physical
limits of the puppet’s materials.

I think they have one comic strip when mangled corpse of a fish comes to life in water. And last frame of fish and dangerhair looking astonished. I can't find it now, but it's certainly on their Twitter page
