Precisely. It's quite sad to see him considering Steve-O proved you can recover from a hard partying lifestyle, but how many chances did this guy get to clean himself up? Fucking dozens at least, and he surely has some money left to take another shot at getting better. However, even with all the suffering, the clear effects of his rampaging alcoholism, he still hasn't found strength to wake up and smell the roses. Guy probably won't make it, Ozzy with his good genetics still suffered from all the drug and alcohol abuse he did over the years, Bam is clearly on a point where his only choices are dropping the bottle and sticking to rehab or dying an early death, and, from the look of it, he isn't dropping the bottle any time soon, sadly!
I cannot believe just how little self-control Bam has. Even guys like Steve-0 who you think has very little managed to pull his ass out of the sewer and stay that way, albiet with a lot of help from Friends. Bam, with even more resources, cannot manage to stay sober or stop blaming everyone but himself for longer then 2 weeks tops. I am honestly glad I never became rich and famous, because it sure seems to lead to the easiest routes to complete self-destruction, every bit as much or more as living on the streets.
Wealth and fame can and do get to people's heads quite easily. Some people already have colossal egos before getting the lives of their dreams handed to them out of nowhere, and even level headed people can corrupt themselves out of their newfound fortunes. People treat the rich and powerful differently, there are entire places dedicated to pampering them, a stark contrast from the treatment some average Joe gets on their life, it's a whole social sphere that is almost built to treat the ego of one's self!
If I ever became had to choose between becoming rich and famous or simply wealthy, I would be one of those guys that live quietly on an upscale neighbourhood, nothing over the top, just enough comfort, no need to walk around on a gilded helicopter or anything of the sort. The safest way to shy away from self corruption is balancing indulgences and modesty, just enough comfort is nice enough!
I really don't get the people that feel sorry for Bam. Rehab sucks. It's worse when doing detox. But Bam is literally staying at rehabs that the average person would consider to be practically resort conditions.
This shit is insanely expensive. For a lot of us that end up on court order rehab, we are stuck waiting for a fucking bed, which can mean sitting in jail until one opens up. On top of this, a lot of these places, especially if you don't have insurance, are basically traphouses. Rundown, shit home row home, or one of those old ass apartment complexes where there is only one bathroom per floor.
The average addict would kill to be out into the places that Bam keeps running from.
Guy is killing himself, even if you don't like Bam it's not a pretty sight to see some guy drinking himself to ill health, to the point he gets ill if he doesn't drink. His alcoholism is severe, and the sight is frankly pathetic enough to warrant some pity even if Bam did it to himself. Honestly, I don't feel sorry for him, he needs to grow up and realize his only choices are either sticking to rehab and cleaning himself up or dying an early death. He is the one who drunk himself to ill health, an he is the only one who can put work on maturing and getting himself clean before it's too late!
