The Elder Scrolls

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I am almost at the 100 hour mark in Nehrim (dealing with crashes every 1 hour or so) and I got to say, it sure is impressive.
That it was made for free and as a mode, show the dedication the modders have.
If you like the world its set in be sure to check out Enderal, which is for Skyrim. There is also Myar Aranath and Arktwend which are mods for Morrowind that are never talked about but are also part of the same series.

The modders put up something out in public that's 100% free, and if you go to the modlist in-game you'll find all the proper credits and links. What's there to piss their eyes about?
It's strange that they would ask some devs (not all) for permission, and release the cut anyways without waiting for their response. There were some devs who's mods were included in the cut posting in that thread, and all of them said that they would've gave permission. One of them said he responded to GOG's email making sure the pack was going to be free and stuff, and GOG never responded. I wouldn't want my mod in some pre-bundled collection that you have to pay for. GOG could of at least told them it wasn't going to be that.
Furthermore, GOG credits some random clickbait YouTuber for making the GOG cut. It's weird they'd choose someone who hadn't made a video about Daggerfall for over a year before the release of the cut, especially when another YouTuber recently made a Daggerfall video that got over 1 million views in 2 months. Perhaps I went a bit too far calling the GOG cut "shady", but it's pretty weird.

I want the Zaric collection, Jewel would agree that he is the best TEStuber for the job

Started a new character in The Elder Scrolls Online (Breton sorcerer), and I'm kinda liking it so far. I meant to start out in the Daggerfall Covenant content (the stuff after the intro), but I started this quest that sent me to Vvardenfell, so I guess I'm doing the Morrowind expansion instead...

It's taking me back to my Morrowind playthrough, seeing Vivec City under construction and hearing Vivec speak is a cool experience (and parsing through the dialogue to get references to Dagoth Ur and the Heart of Lorkhan is pretty neat). Not sure how a low level character will scale with this expansion's content, but so far I'm liking what I'm playing.

Daggerfall is free and Daggerfall Unity is free. Who even remotely would think that GOG would charge for it?

Who knows? If I was a mod dev and my mod was being included in an unofficial edition of a game without my permission, I'd sure as hell would want to make sure they weren't charging for it.

It was up literally yesterday. I was mid read and planned to finish it today :(
Sorry for the extremely late reply, but if it makes it any less awkward to read, The Altered Scrolls was not written by Shamus Young.

Incidentally, my second favorite set of articles on Twenty Sided was written by the now-late host. When I first played Skyrim, I completely skated past the Thieves' Guild's dumb moments. It was only reading through this set of articles I thought, "Actually..."

So I finished Nehrim... As stated before, it is a very impressive mod. That some guys in germany made this for free and with passion, shows.
What really grinded my gear, was the crashes all the time ( the final battle ended with at least three crashed before I bite the bullet and changed it to medium in settings) and that took away the enjoyment of the game for me.
The game shines in the world and the exploration. That in nearly every dungeon you visit, you find a magical artifcat, some spells books etc, make it very fun to just run around in the world (the nearly 120 hours I spend, I spend around 90 of them just fucking around)
What the games lack, is in the Main story and side quests. The main quest line I never really gave a shit about and it never felt like that my character had any real input in what happining ( I never really understood why the lighborn were bad) and there weren't any real side quest.
I am now going to try out the followup, as I have heard it improve in everything that Nehrim were lacking in.
That it is now using Skyim instead of Oblivion, make me think it will be more stabil ( even after I installed the four GB ram patch, Nehrim crashed all the time).
So in my conclusion, I would recommend Nehrim, but be warned, it will crash.

Something that's been bugging me throughout my Daggerfall playthough: Why are the canned spells called "circinate?"
Wiktionary said:

Etymology

From Latin circinatus, past participle of circinō (“to make round”)

Adjective

circinate (not comparable)

  1. (botany) Used of leaves or similar parts that are coiled on themselves from the apex toward their base.
  2. (medicine) Round or ring-shaped, particularly with distinct margins forming some sort of motive; annular.

Usage notes

  • Most often the term is used in botany with regard to the way a leaf is "packaged" inside a bud.
I really don't see the connection. Any ideas?

Just finished DOS Daggerfall. It's not like Skyrim or Oblivion where you occasionally run into a bug or CTD. There is literally nothing in this game that works the way it should. It's endearing at first but it gets old after the 10th time I get one-shot because the "Cast when held: Spell Absorption" enchantment I spent a king's ransom on works maybe 10% of the time.

By the end of my second evening I just hated the game and the idiot devs who barely played it before selling it. Seriously, check out this AMA from one of the guys who worked on the game. He literally says "I've never played Daggerfall" at one point. This explains so much.

Why would you ever play original Daggerfall instead of Daggerfall Unity? If you are going to play base Daggerfall, why would you not install a bug fix mod?

I actually have played DFU a couple of times. I just wanted to see what the original was like. If I could go back in time a week I wouldn't bother. Also, this was with the bugfix mods :story:

1. Daedra are not able to trans, gay, whatever other term, they're sexless in every sense since they came about during initial creation, not reproducing like lower lifeforms.

2. Homsexual marriage exists in Skyrim because Todd was too lazy to program preferences in, like the companions in Fallout 4.

3. Vivec was a coombrain after being god-like for thousands of years, and just did whatever could get him off.

what ACTUALLY matters is that Redguard Male and Nordic Female marriage is possible

Also a very generic noob question but it's probably almost a unwritten fact that TES6 will be in Hammerfell right? At least there are quite some rumours who lead to that place. Also since Hammerfell is the home of the Nig......Redguards it would perfectly fit in the current political climate of the gaming industry. Already see it before my eyes as a WE WUUZING mix of old Egypt and the Arabic world.

I fucking HOPE they also add high rock with their French style knights/mages faggotry but hey that's WAYCIST!

Excuse the disturbance with this overdone topic.
