I think you hit the nail on the head with "a fantasy as the rest of his life." When you think about it the only real era of Chris' life was his child hood, it was raw, untouched, untampered with, not touched by weens, trolls or white knights. Once he reached High School control of his life basically began to leave his grasp, paid gal pals, slid by in the education system, then shortly after trolls, weens, the sagas. I know the tired allegory is the Truman Show but its hard not to see the comparisons when you put it as such, Chris' life hasnt been his life since he was a teenager and in a weird way thats severely depressing. Of course that isnt to say he hasnt had a hand in ruining his life / losing control of it but its still something to think about.
