Some of the animators/showrunners are rightfully fucking pissed about this. I don't blame them.

So as I was asking, what's next for JG Quintel since HBO Max shitcanned Close Enough?

Now that a Season 4 of Close Enough isn't happening, what's next for JG Quintel?

So...I take that as nothing else? Seriously, I don't want to be ignored. I really want to know what he's about to do next.

Can someone explain to this tard what's the point of removing existing content, tech-wise? Nothing that I can think of would save them any money by doing that, and while I've never heard of any of this shit past Sesame Street, it has to be a big deal if so many people are bitching about it, meaning less subs would be kept.

Can someone please explain the reasoning behind this? They're not just cancelling the shows, they're removing it. Isn't the point of a streaming service is having a lot of contents to cater to as many customers as possible?

Get on investor call and find out for yourself.
The article also states that they laid off employees furthering, the article states that they are mostly pulling reality show stuff. Mayhaps they are tired of paying licensing, royalties, etc. We are in a recession after all.

Mix of tax write offs (means you will never be able to see the stuff legally again) and low viewership of the stuff on HBO Max not being worth the residuals. Could also be they plan to move some of the stuff to Discovery+ in the case of the reality tv show type content, or plan to licence out some of them.

However, if they are doing tax write offs for the Sesame Street content, that is the dumbest thing they could do. Even if the specials and Elmo talk show flopped they would be fools to try and damage that relationship they have with Sesame Street. In 2015 HBO made a 5 year deal with Sesame Street to become the home of that show after rising costs made sure it was no longer viable air just on PBS (PBS still get episodes just months after they air on HBO), the deal most have worked out because in 2019 the deal was extended by 5 years and covered HBO MAX as well.

Sesame Street helps covers WB's biggest content library weakness which is lack of preschool shows compared to rivals such as Disney and Paramount, who both have had huge success in that market. When the deal comes to a end, there will be other companies trying to get the rights and by making tax write offs for their shows it may cost them.

Having a google at the titles, odd one out is Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures which is a show WBD has nothing to do with, so that likely is just a licensing deal which has expired.

Keep bashing this shit into your heads people - "media is temporary, but piracy is eternal" 🏴‍☠️

I think all of us assumed HBO max operated the same as Netflix or D+, where those companies pay much larger $$ up front to creators, cast, crew, and actors and they own the shit forever. Thats why Netflix never pulls anything they made.

HBO Max apparently works more under the HBO model, where they do pay money up front but they also pay a little tiny amount every time a show re-airs, like network television/cable. So every time someone watches HEY FAGGOT on HBO max, hbo max has to pay out 1c to the crew, 1c to the cast, 2c to the producers, etc.

HBO max looked at the numbers and said so few people watch this crap that its just not worth paying out those pennies, since all that payout money comes from subscriber monthly/annual fees. House of Dragons and Curb are what get people to new sub or renew, not HEY FAGGOT so they are starting to drop all the shit they know do nothing for sub numbers.
