Recently I tried fucking around with Millennium Dawn because I wanted to make a really stupid mod. I ran into some issues though and had to seek out some documentation. Lo and behold the only way to get support was to read up on their Discord server, so I said whatever and bit the bullet by making a burner account. This apparently still wasn't enough because those fuckers wanted a phone number to even read the channels so I had to go ahead and find some free Romanian number to use on the account. When I finally got into the damn server it was filled to the brim with trannies and literal mouth breathers. You'd expect a community centered around a game where you do shit like create a Holy European Empire, make the Soviet States of America or conquer the middle east as Nazi Bulgaria to have people from all over the place in there, but apparently not.
It was all just trannies and fags arguing about contemporary politics with more delusional stances than even Reddit. I'd expect some weird turk nationalist or some commie sovietboo would be there but I didn't even see anyone who deviated from the tranny approved political stances. Fags probably banned anyone who didn't agree with them.
I hate the Internet and everyone on it.

Tis is the fate of all modding communities in the modern day. Any discord that wants your phone number is never worth it, plus you are unable to remove the phone number from your account, so its permanently linked. The tranny thing is probably because they control the discord and ban anyone who doesnt toe their line, so all the funny people were banned.

Discord is like IRC just everyone has an IQ of 80 and is a tranny or some other kind of sex pervert. The first thing I noticed when I delved into discord to grab some file or other (I don't even remember) is that it's really hard to get on there anonymously. Like, suspiciously so. I wonder who's bankrolling that little data-hoarding avenue.

They are fucking trying to stomp out private numbers too! Ever since that happened I had to make another burner and it refused to accept any number. I even went ahead and rented a foreign number and it still refused.
The worst part of all of this is that you just can't read the server without joining, even on Reddit you can just lurk or use a third party reader like Teddit, nothing of the sort exists for Discord.
Political Sperging:
It was genuinely full of like gay and tranny flags on every corner as well as an inordinate amount of NATO shiteaters. The rhetoric of some of those retards sounded like the avearege Pentagon meeting about how they wanna force all European countries into a Pan-European Federal State and how they want to nuke and destroy Russia, China and spread "freedom and democracy" to the world. I don't even think it's feds, it's just delusional people who think they are masterminds because they play strategy games for 8 hours a day. Genuinely mindblowing.

Joint US and Chinese fedops. The alphabet agencies get their info via federal choke orders while the mandarin alphabet agencies do it via Tencent being a major shareholder in Discord.

You used to be able to just enter a username and it would let you browse without having a email or anything attached

A bit late but Victoria 3 first official gameplay dropped, and 99% stuff from leaked build appears unchanged. Also, waging war is just clicking two (literally) buttons and watching the AI fight on it's own. Very fun.

At this point I predict two scenarios:
1) (60% chance) It will end up like CK3: barebones immitation of the prequel, not liked by anyone who isn't Paradox's retarded paypig (you know, the "I made anarchist USA in 1890s, MOM GET THE CAMERA GOTTA POST IT ON REDDIT!!!!" types)
2) (40% chance) It will end up like Imperator: Rome, a broken mess that will get abandoned 1 year after launch and (hopefully) bankrupt the studio
Both fucking suck.
It will wind up like Imperator, in that just like how some people thought Imperator was shallow and its mana system was shit, people will find that not having control in combat sucks and eventually force Paradox to heel, but it will be too late because you can't just do a 180 on your product. (Unless you're the team behind No Man's Sky, apparently, in which case your blatantly criminal lies will be forgivien.)

What the fuck do you do that you need to go grab random numbers off the Internet to ask for vidya advice? Are you a serial killer?

Sperging:
I just want to fuck EUIV fucking piece of shit wasted nearly 1500 hours on that cucked game doing the same shit over and over again why do I get neuron activation from looking at a map and clicking le button to paint it another colour, could have just used MS paint but that for some reason that doesn't make me feel like I'm snorting fentanyl like a fucking NIGGER, thankfully I haven't touched it since half a year since it is like crack cocaine for my mind and soul, doing literally ANYTHING is better than rotting away looking at A FUCKING MAP fuck Paradox, I hope they suck million cocks in hell

sorry for being a sperg but I hate P*radox with a passion due to them creating their hellspawn skinner-box games that I wasted a significant portion of my life on, but P*radox games also made me have a greater appreciation of history

I hate discord so fucking much. Anything new is outsourcing support that that shithole(or even worse: twitter). Some projects are exclusively on discord and you can't find shit outside of it. Bizarre. One day tranny discord mod will have a bad day and removes everything and whole community is fucked.

Dude I tried to set up RPCS3 which is a PS3 emulator and some of the games required all the update files to function. The trannies set up some Discord bot to give you download links which were hosted on their fucking website anyways but you literally coudn't just download them without using Discord.
There's also that time my modded PS Vita had an issue and I couldn't get support without talking to the devs with 🏳️‍🌈 next to their name just to troubleshoot which package was fucking shit up.
If I had to nuke one service off the face of the Earth it would be fucking Discord.

Holy fuck.
These dudes know every obscure little bit of Cold War espionage lore and quote fucking academic journal articles in their dev diaries.
Compare to Paradox "lol horse nomad Teutonic Knights lol Norse revival" from the latest DLC.
Read Dev Diary 15, it talks about using Markov chains to model political processes.
I have to thank you for bringing this game's depth to my attention. I had seen this game around before, but due to the title, and the little blurbs I had seen with it, I had assumed that is was a paradox-like or something like Suzerain. But it actually looks like they are trying to be an actual simulator. Pretty neat.

I snagged Nebulous same time I did Terra Invicta with a Steam package deal and I am loving it a lot more than Terra Invicta. Mostly because spaceship go boom, ha ha.
I have Nebulous, I like it. But the game needs you to have friends and/or use the Dev's discord (Which has surprisingly few flagrant Trannies). Your team's fleets need to be able to work together, and running with a public pick-up group who likely aren't using a voice chat vs a four-stack of veteran friends in a call together isn't going to go well.

Still, somebody aught to put up a thread for it. It's a cool game, and it looks like it is only going to be getting better.

Yeah, I just sort of automatically assume that those knock-offs are shit-tier, but I'll have to second guess every one I see now.

You should look up "Fields of Glory" if you're a WW1 fan, it's going to be like HOI but extremely detailed.

I play skirmishes because I'm a lazy faggot who just wants to see things go boom. MP stuff really isn't for me. Will gladly play the hell out of their campaign though.

So I dunno if any of you have seen this, but apparently Paradox utterly fucking broke carrier naval bombers. Under the new module system planes only get the stats from the module when on that mission type, the problem is carrier planes in naval combat don't use the naval strike mission, which means they don't get the stats of torpedo modules and are instead limited to the airframes base naval attack of fucking 1. GG Paradox, GG.

Not going to link the video?
That said, for modders its an easy fix by just moving the bombing stats to the base airframe instead of just the mission. Even so, the fact Paradox never bothered to test a basic fucking feature like this is just execrable.

You know what Victoria's shitty diplomatic play and war system can't represent?
The choice of Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, All of Mexico, or less land as the US rolls over Mexico.
Or most any other war in the period.

Something I'm really digging about Terra Invicta is the idea of the ideological factions. At first glance I just liked that it has the hard sci-fi technology and the detailed solar system map (you don't need a galaxy's worth of stars to have interesting settings), but this also, in a way, acts like a setting I've been interested in but haven't ever seen, alien invasion in which the humans are turned on each other.

Alien invasions draw on colonization parables a lot, but it seems rare if ever that somebody has the aliens have multiple factions (like French and British in the American interior), or have the humans have multiple factions which the aliens play against each other (like Cortez in Mexico). And that's what I assume would happen in real life. The moment ayy lmaos show up they're going to hand off flying saucers and laser guns to the Americans and Russians and have them kill each other off over some vitally important strategic resource that we couldn't imagine and can't use, like, say, maple trees to make maple syrup that gives them alien boners.

Terra Invicta doesn't have multiple aliens, and they're not (as far as I know, I've only been watching Let's Plays) actively involved in diplomacy, but each faction does map in some way to real behaviors we can see in a tribe. Tribes are mostly stateless societies, but at a certain scale - a town, for example - there is some sense of order. Similarly, a planet full of nations is an anarchistic international system, but there are still entities that behave like (in this case, literally are) states, agents that can be negotiated with. In this setting, a fight between groups like Humanity First and Protectorate, for example, is something like the Red Sticks (aligned with Tecumseh) and White Sticks (US allies) civil war in the Creek Nation, the Red Sticks/Humanity First want all Whites/xenos gone and their ways taken with them, the White Sticks/Protectorate want to side with the obvious winner. Or, with the Cherokees, the Treaty Party that relocated voluntarily is like Project Exodus, just piss off and leave everybody else to fend for themselves. And Servants are like the storybook version of Cortez and Montezuma or Cook and the Hawaiians.

I had this thing I was toying with of an idea of how you would simulate a stateless society in a grand strategy game, seeing as EU4 and HOI4 both have them as playable factions. I think the way you'd do it is you'd have Chiefs (or whatever the appropriate terminology would be for the culture) be these little characters that have floating levels of Support, like an abstraction of what chunk of the society they can expect to mobilize at the moment to support whatever they want. If you want to do an action, you have to have a Chief do it, and if they don't have enough Support (or if there's a limit to the number of actions they can carry out, or something like their Support goes down when you use them and then it has to build back up) by themselves, you have to carry out internal negotiations to enlist other Chiefs. The Chiefs could also possibly randomly pop off decisions by themselves if left idle too long. And I mean, the Chief has to want to the action. You have a variety of perspectives, so you either have to make the Chiefs who align with your interests at the moment more influential in the nation, or you have to broker deals, or find opportunities to remove old chiefs/bring in new ones that do align with your interests.

The big thing being that the stateless society should be a clunky thing where the player has to sometimes juggle different decisions they don't necessarily want in order to make it possible to get what they do want, and it's diplomatically vulnerable because an interloper can potentially do things like have a Chief sign a treaty the other Chiefs don't want to get claims on their land.

Examples of Chief actions:
Command an "army" as a general (war chief) - If people aren't willing to follow a chief, in a stateless society they just go home
Broker a treaty, declare war, set up a trade route/trade deal
Change tribal laws/customs (for example, establishing a police force, like the Cherokee Light Horse)
Migrate
Construct significant infrastructure
etc.

I really wish somebody would make a New World grand strategy game, I have more hope for that since now we're getting what looks like a good Cold War game (so people are branching out into new settings).

It's also real cool that the game has rockets be a resource. For those of you who play it, does it have astronauts as a resource? I would think that space navy sailors would require such strict qualifications that they'd be extremely precious, but I haven't heard of a game doing that.
