It's the crackhead mentality. He just needs the money. Even if there wasn't an event he'd still blow it on whatever, but he needs it in order to feel like a person. It's not like he can't pay his bills or live according to the life standard he has set.
Remember, he was doing okay with the same tips goals even when he had 300 members. That's a couple of hundred dollars less. He still has the same bills right? Should be. Unless his expenses have raised, which would be interesting coming from a guy who claims he's "paycheck to paycheck" and barely making ends meet. He should be perfectly fine but somehow he tweaks out even more.

One thing I've just noticed while reading this... have you guys realized that the "buy me a PC" arc just got abruptly dropped and memoryholed? It looks like what aluddapeepol were saying was true, which is that he had RTU's PC lined up and wanted to scam the dents for some extra pocket money, but decided against it when RTU unwittingly blew Phil's scam wide open by publicly saying that he's thinking of gifting his old PC to Phail.

I find it funny that he was able to handle playing Silent Hill 2, RE Zero, and REmake 2 on hard, but he can't handle Scorn which is basically a first-person survival horror game(Imagine if he played it with the hud off lol). Just goes to show that all that gin and sticking with easy games really did a number on him.

R - GREED): - Dent volunteers a budget of $3,000
- DSP dedicates an entire week to filling that budget with PC parts & other junk (comes to no conclusion)
- Somewhere in the middle of that, RTU volunteers to give him a FREE PC
- DSP doesn't like that, he wants the new PC from the dent who he had lined up to shill out $3,000
- RTU makes DSP look like a bitch by preferring to milk a dent instead of taking a FREE PC
- Dent becomes hesitant, decides to pull out of the deal
- DSP instantly stops having tech issues
- Saga is over, DSP's greed got the best of him again, and the only thing he got is made fun of by RTU and exposed for being a greedy bastard.
