Feels good after the last two when I’ve ended up on the Big Man team every time so far. We busted our asses and came out on top at halftime like the island one, but I think we didn’t get fucked as hard on the 3-way matches because the map this time had defendable chokepoints. I know for a fact that I won most of them solely by virtue of good ink wall placement.

Big Run is happening in December! (hopefully) and the rest of the next season was shown off today, over all it looks pretty cool. The showed a bunch of new guns and a few new maps.

The new weapons appear to be the Tentatek Splattershot with a sub that I didn’t get a good look at, a burst fire sniper weapon, a new shooter, and a roller.

Splatoon 3 was recently nominated for Beat Family Game at the Game Awards 2022 Nominations Special, and it’s competing against Kirby and The Forgotten Land and Mario and Rabbids: Sparks of Hope this year.

I’m not even mad about this; this is a pretty fun game.

I should ask though, does the autistic slapfighting happen every splatfest or did something about this one specifically bring out the worst in everybody? Like some people need to chill out, it's not the end of the world if your team doesn't win.

I've been playing this game since launch day of Splatoon 1. Let me tell you - these players take their Splatfests seriously. If my memory serves me right, Splat1's Splatfests we're mostly casual fun. Some people voted based on their preference, others based on their favorite idol. The choices weren't really controversial - Marshmallows v. Hotdogs and Sandcastle v. Snowmen are casual shit. Shit got serious when the last Splatfest for Splatoon 1 was Callie v. Marie as when Marie won and players found out that it's result directly influenced the direction of Splat2 people started to take it way more serious.

Splat2's choices were more thought provoking but I find that a lot of people chose based off of their favorite idol because of the Callie v. Marie fiasco and that the Off the Hook idols arent basically identical like the Squid Sisters. One of the best Splatfests was the Inkling v. Octoling one, as at it's crux it's a race war and even Marina takes notice at the announcements. And in game lore states that the winner of the Splatfest is legally better than the loser, so whoever won was The Master Race in law. It came to a peak in Chaos v. Order, Splat2's final splatfest, because everyone knew that whoever won decided the fate of the next game.

Tldr, since Splatfests can actually change the direction of the game and people got more invested in their idols, people chimp the fuck out when they come around.

Spoiler: Actually yeah

I had several failed attempts before this one, some were smoother, some were entirely painted, some I carved to add the markings to the figure itself rather than painting them, but all of them got fucked up in some way so I cheated and just printed stickers of the markings. I wanted to make a definitive version because it has a lot of flaws, but she loved this one and didn't have to keep trying.
Maybe I will anyway, when I have more time.
