CenturyLink/Qwest/Layer3 blocks Kiwi Farms

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I hadn't got a chance to read all of the replies here, but I'm having issues on Spectrum, too. Had to use Tor, even though 103.114.191.1 is there clear as day. Did I miss something where I *still* need to send in a complaint? Tor keeps logging me out and the site's freezing here and there. It's a pain.

Can access via TOR. Just talked to CL online support, completely worthless. Just kept passing me around while not answering my question of "Yes or No is this address being blocked" just gave up in frustration.

Skimming through the DNS talk. I have a pi-hole on my network, technically I can set the DNS service to use. Is this correct? If so, what service should I use?
Unless it's not working I wouldn't touch the DNS.

But I use 8.8.8.8 (Google's DNS) as the main DNS, with fallback to 4.2.2.2 and with 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) as last resort.

We're not gonna get any traction till at least the 2nd week of January, nobody will be working for the next two weeks and vacations will go into the 1st week of January. I think once the complaints start coming in thick and heavy we'll go back up again, but again this isn't gonna happen soon. Anyone who is familiar with my account knows I am all about fighting fire with fire, but my advice to Kiwis here is to take a break for the next two weeks, enjoy the holidays and come back swinging in January.

This is one of the worst things about this time of the year, nobody asides from the lowest of fast food and retail wageslaves that have no power to negotiate time off is working and everything grinds to a halt for a few weeks into January. I think bringing anything down this time of the year when customer service grinds to halt might have been a strategy chosen by whoever is pulling this shit this time.

Link to what Security Shield is.

You can submit a request for it to be unblocked, but considering this site doesn't fit under the "Security Shield blocks access to potentially harmful websites that are used to spread malware or steal user data." criteria and is still blocked.

Guess fuck me for being black listed by null.

I spoke with Spectrum, told them that it was a tier 1 blocking the site ( I used the ip for obvious reasons.) explained that their hops were going through, but it was getting stuck on twelve99 (Which is Telia/Arelion) and told them that the site was completely legal and how unprecedented this was.
She put me on hold, and when she came back told me to reset my equipment. I filled out my fcc complaint while I waited and sure enough, less than an hour later I was back up on clearnet and the trace no longer showed Twelve99 in the list. Hopefully they fix it for you, but that's what I did for reference.
I will call them and try this again, There are other ISPs in my area, it would just be a supreme pain in the ass.

Does anyone know what is up with TOR logging us out? I've never run into this issue before.

First/second level support never ceases to amaze with their dimwittedness.

But for anyone else doing the same, you should mention that you have been told that other ISPs are having routing problems with that IP, that they have been able to solve.

That should hopefully get it forwarded to the nerds in the NOC.

Someone with a burner HN account should post Null's Telegram post on https://news.ycombinator.com/. That's probably one of the quickest ways to get this noticed by the people working in NOCs.
The NOC people I know don't hang out on HN (especially not right before Christmas), they tend to be unixbeards with families.

But worth a shot, I guess.

@Null
On my current ISP the traceroute resolves correctly against your IP but the browser refuses to connect. Maybe is ICMP allowed while TCP SYN gets poisoned.
I have the trace with me.

Edit: DNS resolves correctly

Wondering that myself - anytime I've had to open up Tor, I had to log in again, but not after almost every single click of a new page. And it's intermittent. I can scoot through a couple of pages, but have to log in again, and the next page I click on pops up into a new browser tab. It's never done this before.

There are likely some ISP software devs on there who can bug their friend in the NOC. I don't know where NOC people hang out, but HN is at least in the right general vicinity. If you know some NOC irc channel or something, feel free to post it there as well.

Considering UK speech laws, it might be better to mention https://madattheinternet.com as that should be more "acceptable".
I think in general it would be better if those who file complaints to say that they are unable to connect to AS397702 or 1776 Solutions LLC, if only to give that complaint a little more oomph, especially when talking to anything above call center retards.
Complaining that a single IP address or website is being blocked - as bad as that is - can be easily shrugged off. As already seen in this thread, customer support tried to explain that away by saying that the IP/site must be doing something shady and that's it's probably blocked for safety reasons yada yada.
An entire Autonomous System being cut from large parts of the Internet is a completely different story and should raise some eyebrows.

god i am on some various discord servers and i have to listen to retards celebrating shit like this.

In any case if you are on this ISP, mail them, call them. Heck, get your friends that don't visit the site to call them for fun. Good old christmas time with friends and family annoying ISPs because they wont let you visit your favorite homosexuality and gossip forum.

It might be the new DDoS protection Josh has set up, since there's suddenly a lot more people connecting via Tor.

Should I write an email to BEREC? Like US people can write emails to the FCC?
Yes, if you're up for it.

True

I don't know of anything (other than mailing lists like nanog), unfortunately.

edit: doesn't look like anyone's mentioned it yet: https://mailman.nanog.org/pipermail/nanog/2022-December/thread.html
