Experimental 12.7mm bullpup
I wonder hazard a guess that this thing is one of the ancestors of the modern Russian 12.7x55mm guns.
Semi related, but a Russian associate of mine once told me that the Ukrainians developed their own 12.7x55mm (not interchangeable with Russian made cartridges, somehow) after 2014 but there is as far as I can tell no information regarding it online and I have never heard of any Ukrainian 12.7 small arms.

Have not played the game but that sounds badass especially if a Smith got in.
There might be another one, but it's the only videogame I've ever seen the Smith & Wesson Sigma in.

Resident Evil 3 original the magnum is a 629 Classic with a 6" barrel. Outbreak has the Model 29 blued with a 6 or 8" can't remember and File 2 has the Model 36 snub on one of the scenarios. Resident Evil 5 has the Model 29 with a 9 or 10" barrel hard to tell because vidya and the Model 500. Resident Evil Revelations 2 has the model 500 dressed up as Barry's .44 from Resident Evil 1 remake but there's a scene that shows it clearly with the 5 round cylinder, S&W trademark and .500 S&W shells loaded and Claire's magnum is a 329 PD with a 4" barrel. Chief Irons' revolver in RE2 Remake is also a 329PD 4". There might be more but those are the ones I remember for Smith's off the top of my head.

Edit: and Survivor's magnum is a Model 19 4".
Resident Evil 4 also has the Broken Butterfly (which appears to be some sort of hybrid of the Colt 1873 and Smith & Wesson Schofield), as well as the Handcannon, which I think is based on the Smith & Wesson 500

I didn't want to include the ones from 4 since they're weird hybrid designs. Especially since the handcannon has a more Colt-like grip and I can't see clearly what cylinder latch it has. I was going for ones that are just straight up Smith and Wesson revolvers.

I couldn't find any dates or further info on this thing, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I've run across mention of something like that elsewhere, pretty sure it was on a Ukrainian site for an arms exhibition; but that was prior to the invasion, and I can't find any mention of it anymore.

However, I did rediscover something that I meant to post here a while ago: the domestically produced Snipex Alligator in 14.5x114, officially adopted by Ukraine in 2021.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine adopted the Alligator multi-charge large-caliber anti-materiel rifle.

Details: According to the results of state tests, the Alligator rifle, all parts of which were made by Ukrainian gunsmiths, was adopted for service by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is noted that the main task of the large-caliber "Alligator" is the destruction of the enemy's fortifications and equipment, in particular lightly armored.

The Alligator rifle was first introduced in June 2020 on the official Snipex Facebook page. In July, the first presentation video appeared on the official YouTube channel of XADO.[5] Based on the state examinations results, the 14.5×114 mm caliber Snipex Alligator rifle was unofficially adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2020;[6] it was officially adopted on 2 March 2021.[1]

The Alligator has been used by Ukrainian forces during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.[7] A record killing shot was recorded there in November 2022 at a confirmed distance of 2710 meters.[8][9]

Confession time.

I have a Type-81 rifle. The barrel is so bent it's almost a perfect parabola. The red paint on the furniture is probably going to give me cancer. The magazines are as unique as a three-titted, two-headed, microcephalic unicorn tranny. But it's my AK cope, and nobody else's, and I love it.

I'm going to finally have to play Resident Evil if they took the Smith and Wesson pill, fuck me. It makes some sense the Japanese would be familiar with S&W enough to put it in their games, a common police gun is the Model 36 Chief's Special (hey mine!). Really I want to see a game where they go into some of Smiths wilder revolvers, like the 7 shot 357, or the new 350 legend.
M&Ps are seriously underrated for some reason. Not that the first ones didnt have issues but they're still great guns.

Obligatory mud tests are gay and unrealistic.
Underrated and tough as shit, half of it is stainless steel. It's almost like smith has been making guns for a while

Have not played the game but that sounds badass especially if a Smith got in. Smith it feels only gets love on the revolver side in movies and Vidya, and only the big ones, which is sad, their semi autos are quite fashonable,, and their smaller revolvers are solid as shit.
Every so often you'll see S&W semi autos pop up in games.

The Resident Evil 2 remake had a S&W revolver as Claire's gun

holy shit the SKSAK :story:

How are the ergonomics of it? Are mag changes (more) awkward (than are with a regular AK)? Are the mags themselves proprietary or do regular AKM mags fit?

1. Meh. I'm used to a full-length handguard, and holding my arm outstretched when firing similarly-configured modernish rifles, so it takes getting used to.
2. No idea, never touched an AK in my life. The whole rocking-in thing seems awkward compared to tapping in AR mags.
3. Proprietary, which is why I say they're unique as a three-titted unicorn. Apparently you can mod AK mags to fit it.

FYI, the two factories that produce PM magazines in Russia (Baikal and Izhevsk) have recently finished conversion to more modern production, either licensed a different design (mostly the H model with 13 shot capacity for the IJ-70) or switched to something else entirely. CDNN basically has the last shipment of Russian 8-shot imported magazines and accessories, with Bulgaria and China still producing them in low numbers. the TT can still get parts and magazines from China and a couple other countries. this process was started back in 2019 so i guess they're wrapping it up this year.

both work well enough for most people, with the MSR being a bit more modern and rugged with good value - a similar option might be the Holosun HS403. the Bushnell TRS is old tech, but is simple and surprisingly durable for the money asked. a Vortex Sparc II might also be a worthwhile consideration if your budget can stretch a bit. consider matching batteries with some other device like a light or ones you already own in quantity to keep logistics simple.

remember, an optic is a shooting aid. it doesn't replace actual rifleman skills and a red dot can also be a detriment if you're shooting at a significant distance where just normal sights might be better due to finer target visualization.

such is the nature of some suppressors. high pressure lithium grease works quite well for me with machineguns, and if you are running wet, consider switching to wire-pull lubricant like Ideal Clear-Guide instead which has less chance of forming a carbon soap and being spit back at you. the higher pressure of a suppressor on a pistol is unavoidable unless you're using some sort of delay mechanism like a stiffer recoil spring or something.
Thanks for the push in the right direction. I swapped out to stiffer springs and used some Klein foam lube and it’s glorious

are ETS glock magazines shit? i've got the dagger and a couple pmags for it but i'd prefer a transparent magazine if they're reliable.

ETS have been considered shit tier for many years now. If it's just for range fuckery go hog on them but I wouldn't use it for a defensive gun.
