Saw this video pop up on youtube, noticed the Harry Potter books in the thumbnail.

A 2.3 million sub channel, I think she's from Norway, and she has purple hair so I was expecting a lot of angry comments. Surprisingly though, she didn't mention anything about the trans genocide the Rowling is personally overseeing and there were relatively few comments trying to shame her for it, but few does not mean 0.

One of the comments mentioned another HP video, 10 months ago she has a video where she rebinds the Harry Potter books with leather and carves the covers.

This one has even less sperging from the troons, but there were some people upset that she didn't include JK Rowling anywhere on the books.

That second video got recommended to me recently and my expectations were similar. Pleasantly surprised she does not have RDS. Her channel looks really wholesome. I checked her community posts and Twitter to see if she'd done any grovelling apologies for the ideology she'd inadvertently supported with her videos, but it turns out she's not on Twitter. And you know what? Good for her.

It's comments like this that worry me though. I mean for Christ's sake, the troon actually asked Martina politely to stop supporting JKR. My worry is that she might actually read these comments at some point in the future, not knowing about the issue, but parrot the "trans people are persecuted for exiiiiisting" lie because it feels like the right thing to do.

I can't find the tweet, but there was a tranny mocking Rowling with something along the lines of 'Haha, the joke's on her because she doesn't realize the Ukrainian soldier she retweeted is actually TRANS!'

Like, he seemed to think Rowling's whole shtick is hating trans people and that she'd be mortified - MORTIFIED - to find out she retweeted one without knowing. People seem to think she's a Kiwi Farmer or something. But no, she doesn't have anything against them as a group. Just disagrees with the activists on a few key points.

They are old but not decades old, you probably feel this way because Jim kay (the guy doing the illustrations) is very slow, and they have illustrated five books with him in the span of ten years (of which only 4 are published). He is now stepping down to focus on his mental health and someone else will be assigned to finish the series.

The biggest problem with... most communities nowadays, but especially the LGBTs, is they feel the need to circle the wagons and defend and revere even the most dispicable people who happen to share that one traits they have in common and make their identity around and defines their "community". They have this idea like "If I dont defend this gay pedophile, then people will think all gays are pedophiles." when... constantly defending pedophile because they're their "fellow gays" is what makes people think they're all pedophiles WAY MORE.

But you see it with other communities as well. Not to put too fine a point on it, but she is basically a normal person with social and political opinions on a broad spectrum, not someone who has fully bought into one "side" or the other.

I think that polite comment isn't going to win Martina over because the "calm and reasonable tone" belies the lunacy of the request.

Phase Harry Potter out of the public eye. Don't just boycott the series, stop talking about it or consuming content about Harry Potter. Do not mention the books or films you read and watched in childhood. If you find yourself feeling nostalgic, instead go read a bunch of other fantasy YA books, even if you as an adult do not personally read fantasy or YA books, because you need to overwrite your memories of Harry Potter. You need to pretend Harry Potter doesn't exist. Engaging in material activism to support transgender people is irrelevant because it is outweighed by the damage caused by you acknowledging Harry Potter. Acknowledging one of the biggest pop cultural phenomenons of the 21st century is persecuting trans people for existing.

Like... that's insane. It's so far removed from anything to do with how the world works. I don't think I've ever seen anyone legitimately request that a work of fiction be scrubbed from everyone's memories before, let alone one this popular. And the fact it's typed out in such a calm way means this person thinks it's a reasonable request - they're not just frothing at the mouth and yelling because they're upset.

Martina and Hansi seem like genuinely chill nerds (of the authentic, rather than consoom, variety). I don't think they've ever mentioned politics on their channel and are old school apolitical nerds (remember those?). I suspect as a nerdy woman she's probably noticed of the amount of MtFs crowding her out and is well aware of the Rowling drama but just doesn't care or is deliberately doing it as an FU (although in the latter case that's probably just wishful thinking on my part).
