Now that I think about it, why doesn't Chris just try to monetize his videos?

Youtube monetisation criteria.
  • Your content is advertiser-friendly
  • You created the content or have permission to use it commercially.
  • You are able to provide documentation proving that you own commercial rights to all audio and video content.
  • Your content complies with YouTube’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. YouTube reserves the right to disable monetisation for accounts that do not follow our guidelines.
Basically impossible as far as Chris is concerned. And even then, he doesn't have anything close to the audience required to make anything worthwhile.

I'm curious to see how Chris would react if the Donald becomes POTUS. The butthurt cream factory would probably skyrocket in profits.

I wonder why Bob never forced Chris to find a job after he graduated from PVCC. I mean, he had a college degree, couldn't he find a job with that?

He had a certificate, not a degree.

And developing a career, as opposed to just sorting bottles for the rest of his life, would definitely be a tricky proposition for Chris. Just getting the certificate was hard enough.

Does anyone out there have a copy of any of Timmys1984's Sonichu promo videos?
I probably saved it on disc somewhere (the third one), though Dstecks did include it in his review of that Sonichu chapter that references it.

BTW, the guy behind the "Chris Chan" documentary has this to say about what he thinks of him...

CADD is actually a fairly high-powered, responsible program and career path. I talked to someone who was working on it once, and the way she explained it was CADD is to architect what nurse is to doctor or paralegal is to lawyer. Working in the field is a fairly serious and technical job, as the word "drafting" implies, you work on plans and blueprints for building projects.

The problem, from the perspective of Chris' career, is that a two-year community college program is only the first step. In order to be a real CADD practitioner or whatever the term is, there are several more steps involving certification/liscensing and internships/apprenticeships. It appears that Chris didn't really pursue the next step, and I think it is clear to everyone he isn't really equipped to do it.

I think it was too ambitious a program for him. Using his certificate to its full potential was beyond his capabilities, and it is too specific training to be broadly applicable.

He probably would have been better off studying something like web design, where, if prodded in the right ways by Bob, he might have been able to have a mediocre "career" setting up and maintaining websites for places like his church. I don't know if he could have pulled that off, but he would have had a better shot than trying to get a job that involves him doing blueprints.

It's kind of sad he spent 6 years of his life struggling to get through a subject... only to lose all knowledge in that subject matter years down the line.

This update really presented both sides of the troll vs. white knight argument well. I really liked the swatting 14BC part spoken aloud. The swatting could be a good variation on the horrifying rating. One thing that should have been mentioned, though, is that even rich children that grow up to be rich adults can exhibit Chris-Chan's selfish behaviour and be even worse than Chris-Chan himself. Thank you for that @Tribly

It was a waste. I would think a course in Graphic Design would at least get him something to do if hired by a sign firm or an ad agency to come up with logos for area businesses, assuming he could get drawing on a computer down pat.

It's definately not black and white.

What Sachumo said about Chris being a product of the worst in commercialism is not far from the truth given what unoriginality he's had from the start. This is also a lesson to those that write fan art or fiction in how they should reevaluate their own talents and prevent themselves from any creative dead-ends.

Thank you for that @Tribly
Thanks! For @Silver Octopus perhaps I'll stick up that Timmys1984 vid I mentioned before, but for now, here's where to check out that third promo (This is probably the only thing Dstecks did we can be thankful for, preserving this clip)...

I have but one question at the moment -- what time do you guys think Chris wakes up on a daily basis? I have a feeling he might have a wonky sleeping schedule (e.i., staying up nearly all night and waking up in the afternoon).

probably 4 in the afternoon. i remember ivy(?) mentioning it once. when he talks about his "biological clock" being messed up he's talking about what his body believes is his sleep schedule. he used to bitch about it way more often...

Ah, I thought so. Thank you, Cotton Puddings, you've been a great help on my never-ending quest for knowledge!

If only there was a way this guy could put himself to bed.

Of all his whinges, his "sleep cycle" one is among the stupidest. He doesn't have a job and while he claims to have a lot of responsibilities looking after Barb and the dogs, the fact that he doesn't wake up until the afternoon says otherwise, so he can set his own schedule. He whines about how the caffeine in the soda he drinks keeps him up - well, there's this amazing caffeine-free drink called "water." I can't believe even the most ardent ass-patters sympathise with him over this one.
