Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Blues Clues song: This looks like this was made specifically for pride month last year. Unless they're putting this into every episode from now on I feel like this simply typical queer pandering.
2021 was not last year, dingus.
I had a response typed, but by the end it felt more appropriate for the "Unpopular Opinions About Western Animation" topic so I'm taking it there.
That's still pretty retarded. You having a complete hateboner for the 2000s is completely stupid. It's not a perfect decade, but there are some very memorable moments in pop culture, all things considered.
For some reason, strong female characters with subordinates are always considered lesbians. Even though that has all kinds of unethical connotations. I guess Coomers want to see themselves in the subordinate role?
Between the 90s and 2000s, Lara Croft was the pure definition of a strong female lead, but even coomers like her. You know why

Reason I ask is I don't really know either of them but someone sent me a link to a review of Evil Dead Rise, where Papa Meat in the first part was promo'ing Bad Dragon. Am I mentally ill or something or have sex toys based on animal genitalia become normalised? He literally describes the company as "wholesome".
It's his second channel, yes. I don't get it either...

That's the thing with meat canyon. He's soooo. ...Bizarre but not lowcow Bizarre. He's the kinda Bizarre that you can't tell if the sponsorship let alone owner ship of their product was dead serious or done in jest for novelty purposes.

"Novelty purposes".

Not exactly animation related, but it made me MATI enough and I don't know where else to put it.
In short, this dude overanalyzes Peanuts, then 2/3s though focuses on Peppermint Patty and Marcie insisting they're lesbians, and demands I sub to someone in a fursuit.

I wish trying to find toobers to watch wasn't a minefield.
if you are a grown adult and think two fictional child characters are lesbians you should kill yourself now before you start beating it to boku no pico

Some western animation that reminds me of Waltz With Bashir.

Edit: I like how they even have dicks engraved on the wall of the building. Very accurate and good attention to detail. This short was better then like 95% of the "high brow" animation to have been made in the past 15 years.

To be fair it has been a thing long before Puss in Boots, that movie just made it worse due to autists comparing it to a scene in Velma that it reached a point where panic attacks became a box to check for an animated movie.
I never saw anyone make fun of "realistic animated panic attacks" until Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was released. Despite all the jokes, it's mostly just a Twitter thing.

It just seems like hugbox bait, i think it might be cause modern DreamWorks directors/writers are so cucked. I hated that scene in the movie cause it just seemed like legitimising mental illness as something normal or positive, which is why i think it seems like hugbox bait cause that's what tumblrite hugbox shows do. It's an insult to call this film adult animation, it's like something which would've been par for the course in 99 2000. Hunchback of notre dame literally had the villain burn down a house of gypsies cause they were "inhuman scum" while this film pretends mental illness is cool and being scared of death is edgy.

I had one while gaming once, but it just made me feel alive. I think most people are pretty bitch-made so it makes sense that they would even mention something like this. It should have just been like any other scene in the movie, but for some reason people think a panic attack is significant.

Oh also I just noticed that for the kid characters, out of her recurring classmates 3 will be male and only 1 will be female, which made me realise it's been a while since a cartoon with more guys than girls in the main age bracket.
Star vs, Amphibia, Loud House, Owl house, molly mcgee, even gravity falls had mostly female characters as far as it came to characters of a similar age to the main character.

So far a fair amount of people experienced in entertainment, specifically childrens entertainment, maybe this wont be so bad-

It looks like another Star VS.

Which isn't a good thing.

I actually like the concept of the film tbh, the idea that your time is finite and you should spend that time taking risks and working towards goals, it's a very surprising message for a modern kids film cause people call self improvement fascism or some shit. The problem is trying to pretend it's a mature film, which again stems from the fact that every single fandom these days except gaming is filled with adult infants. The adult infant tendency to treat something mundane as something important or significant is absolutely pathetic.
But seriously, I can't really think of any (human) male main characters in shows that have come out in the past 4-5 years outside of adult animation.
But muh audience expansion, muh lil girl merch selling, muh lil girls, think of dem lil girls (and trannys/gays). Tbh male characters are all gay too in adult animation, most of them anyways. They're all kissing and fucking each other in between fighting and talking bout feelings.

I meant moreso the people who acted like kids cartoons were super duper deep and actually for adults.
This. The Animation Community is full of (wo)manchildren that claim to "care" about animation, but all these lazy faggots do is watch cartoons made for toddlers.
It's exactly why I could not take the animation community seriously. If they only knew what animation for adults really meant, they would've focused more attention on actual adult animation from the classics from Ralph Bakshi to the foreign made animated projects like Triplets of Belleville or Waltz of Bashir. It's always the same tried and true bullshit about how "muh modern Disney movie or CN show is le deep n sheeyut." My god, I fucking hate those people so much.

I think this just came to be with the Puss 'n' Boots sequel because no one was expecting this one kids' movie to be good, and especially no one expected it to have the theme of death heavily involved. It felt like a throwback to a time when kids' films were actually true family films, where they were not afraid to touch on mature subject matters, especially something as the fear of death/the unknown at the subconscious level.

This is more-or-less a sign that we have an oversaturated market of animation but rarely anything of substantial has made actual impact outside of "Oh it's a Disney movie and my kids (if any) need a movie but I'm bored" (though kids are getting bored of them, too) and then something makes money but no one learns anything. That line of thinking is why we're in this slum and stuck feeling nostalgic for the Disney Renaissance of 30 years ago because it feels like animation truly peaked back then, and even Disney has thrown in the towel and stopped caring about quality.

We still get nice-looking films, of course, but again, we have to keep wading through all the shit to find them. It's almost like, perhaps, the market was more sustainable when we had only a few titles come out every year, and when there was actual healthy competition between multiple studios.

Anyway the fanbase is fucking gay and stupid, but I don't entirely fault people for latching on to the sequel as hard as they did. It deserved its attention and I hope DreamWorks makes more movies of that quality in the future. They honestly need it right now.
