Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

Okay I found the last arm ability. You can save your buildings and then re-create them later instantly at the cost of nearby items and zonaite. It's literally gmod or minecraft....

They made it so the Yiga leader fell to the depths, so the hole probably does lead to the depths if you finish the quest to get access

The underground map stations are directly below shrines on the surface, and the names are the shrine name backwards.

Yeah I tried the mods. I also tried Mario Tennis Aces and got a similar framerate (yuzu is locked at 60 for reference), so I guess the version for download off their website is a debug build or something.

Have you tried the 30fps mod? Someone posted here a couple pages earlier.
Without it my game also only ran around 20-25fps
Wow, I actually didn't know that would be necessary, I'll give that a shot.

Edit: Put in the 30fps patch and it's running much better. I'm gonna stick to the switch version for now because I've already got a bunch of progress made, but I may switch back at some point. Thanks!
I have a feeling it's more GPU dependent -- I have an old Vega 56 in the desktop.
It's not. Emulation always relies more on cpu. It's ALWAYS been more reliant on cpu than gpu.

Something's obviously wrong. If they didn't hold it back for new hardware then they must have had some troubled development, but of what nature who knows. Something happened behind the scenes, they weren't toiling on this mod for 6 years.
You have to remember that we had a full year when everything just fucking stopped. There is a reason why TOTK was supposed to release last year and was then delayed. You can even see how the flu buttfucked Microsoft's and Sony's output of games. While there it definitely took a long time, part of that was also the kung flu.

That's still 3 full years before lockdowns (2017-2020), which is a long time for an expansion pack.

On my ARM Mac on Ryuujinx it gets better FPS than my switch. Pretty sure my five year old Ryzen box handles it at a better than switch performance level as well. So IDK about this while "needs a good CPU" meme.
... Including the fact that the Switch also runs on ARM, you really DO have a good CPU in the this situation.

I'd dispute 2017 to 2018 as it being time to work on the DLC, so that leaves us with 2018-2020 for the early work on it, a year of covid delay and we would arrive at about 4 years give or take. You might say it is too long, I don't really care since all I was saying is that it took 2017-2023 hyperbole because at the very least, there are 2 years there that can't be counted.

... The remakes and ports? We got Links Awakening and Skyward Sword and a few more. And to my knowledge they are done by the same teams, or at least the Links Awakening remake was.

No, it was developed by Grezzo primarily. While Nintendo may have lent some staff, it wouldn't really do that much to delay TOTK development.

So there must be something we're missing. Has anyone completed the game yet?

IMO I think it is not all as doom and gloom as it sounds here, prerelease leaks always tend to go this way. I am not saying that people that don't like it are wrong, hell I haven't read all of the leaks myself so it would be retarded for me to say they are wrong. It is just not the first time there is this type of reaction to leaks.

But if you wanna say we are missing something, JP was hit VERY hard by Work From Home shit, they couldn't do it and if one wants to be more accurate, covid delays were probably about 18 months instead of just 12. Development might not have fully stopped for those 18 months but it was much slower. We're realistically talking about 3.5-4 years of active development.

Game is out in a week, reviews will be out and if it sucks we will know for sure. Don't get too invested.

Underground has a bit more than I said previously, but it all still just leads in to the vehicle building stuff. I did the 4 regional 'dungeons' and it just directed me to Hyrule castle. There is a 5th dungeon hidden in the depths in the Gerudo area I think, but I ran out of arrows and torch plants. Someone posted the dungeon map files, they said 6, 4 regional, 1 underground, and then Hyrule castle. I don't see anything massive being hidden, its probably troubled development like people have said.

When you're dealing with sharders and shit, it's definitely more GPU reliant. Considering fiddling with the graphics options seems to be the biggest thing that affects performance on my ryzen box, welp can't say more than that.

Time for an autistic mini rant. To put things in perspective, 3 years is how long it took for WW to release after MM. Or, think of it like this--OoT came out in '98, MM in '00, WW in '03, so we got three Zeldas across two console in the time in took for this DLC. Covid or not, that's ridiculous.

We got Wind Waker, Four Swords Adventure, and Twilight Princess within 3 years too...

Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, and Skyward Sword...similar deal.

We got Link Between Worlds, Triforce Heroes, and fucking Breath of the Wild itself in a shorter amount of time than it took for TotK to release afterward. :stress:

I'm still impressed that we do have three "sections" of the map. Honestly it all sounds like you have said before, people that liked BOTW will probably like this the same or maybe a bit more, and people who didn't won't. Although you have been sounding less mad at the game as time went on. Is it because it got better to your taste or just because you said what you wanted to say?

Wind Waker is well known to have been rushed though. And if we account for the DLC and Covid year, 4 years is not that much more than the 3 between MM and WW. Also, don't quote me on it but FSA, PH and ST were developed by a secondary team so by that reasoning we CAN count Link's Awakening and it would put TOTK at around 3 years (but that's just me being pedantic and retarded).

I've gotten over the initial disappointment that the actual game remained completely unchanged. I'm still trying to stay neutral, but personally I don't think its a bad game, I would probably say its the same as botw, and if you require an arbitrary numerical score, that would be probably around 7.5/10, which is the same score I would give botw. It doesn't really improve anything, it just adds more.

As for more stuff being added, apparently there is more to the fabric dyeing stuff now. There are now 'regional patterns' of cloth that you can use to change your paraglider design. There is also a fashion quest in Hateno village, which I think unlocks fabric patterns for certain armour pieces, but I haven't finished it yet.

Sounds like there's a bit more side quests generally. Gotta make sure I finish XB3 this week so I don't have anything pending by Friday lol
