Titanic tourist submersible goes missing with search under way

If you're a billionaire why would you even go down there with anyone other than someone like Cameron or Ballard? This just boggles my mind that they had the resources to go down there with the best that have ever dived yet chose some retard who pressures customers into buying seats via text messages.

Imagine how cool it would be to chat up Cameron for six hours during journey there and back? What a bunch of dumbasses.

I want to drum up some concern, but if you're down there for no reason other than to rubberneck an old wreck/mass grave I can't really seem to find any.
The reason why they went down in the first place was the monitor the damage and changes over time by the ocean. Not entirely morbid sightseeing but idk why they just didn't use a drone like everyone else.

Hannibals mistake was not marching on Rome immediately after Cannae when 50,000 of their Legionaries were feeding the crows and Romes Morale was shattered

This troons mistake is trying to resurrect this old ass meme and somehow connect it to this travesty to get updoots on Twitter.

Fact is we'll probably never know what happened for sure other than that it imploded, because there was so much wrong with this nigger-rigged piece of shit it's amazing it didn't blow in the first time they idiotically took it to the bottom.
They probably already know more than you would think. And just going by what they have said we can surmise a bit.

We know when it happened. The moment they lost contact and telemetry, which according to James Cameron were two entirely different independent systems. With their own power. So we know when.

They can estimate the depth that it happened based on the debris field. Radius of Debris Field = 1/2 depth at which the shit came off.

They have visually identified the two titanium dome end caps. Which means they have 1 of the three main failure vectors, and based on its condition can surmise which of the other two happened. If the Domes are reasonably intact than the failure was the Carbon Fiber or the point where the domes were glued to the Carbon Fiber. If it was the porthole window that failed that will be obvious in that dome piece. If the Carbon Fiber itself failed most of the main hull debris will be in itty bitty black chunks. When it fails Carbon Fiber shatters into dust. If they fin larger pieces of Carbon Fiber and the front dome is intact it was likely the bonding seal.

The reason Ballard did it the first time was, besides finding it being his lifelong hobby, the US Navy was paying for it and was using his Titanic Search as the cover story for his actual mission. WHich was to fidn and survey the two sunken American Nuclear Subs, USS Thresher and USS Scorpion. And to test out all of his newly developed gear for deep sea search and retrieval. Sometimes the tinfloi hat types are correct. Ballard and Woods Hole are deeply intertwined with the Super Secret parts of the Navy that nobody talks about.

He probably was going for "billionaires won't pay to be cramped in a tiny ball for 8 hours barely able to move" like the proven submersibles are - which is batshit stupid; billionaires love to pay for things that they can then crow about how "hard" it was later. Oh no, I had to sit in one space for about 8 hours.

Just an all around retard
I'm sure that isn't it, what they were in seems like it would be less comfortable than many proven subs which would have luxuries such as seats rather than having to sit on the floor.

I just can't believe anyone voluntarily climbed aboard this cheapass repurposed-propane-tank-looking piece of shit when successful deep sea vehicles like the Trieste projects have existed for almost a century. Like, there's been *proven* tech out there for decades for diving at these depths, and this motherfucker cobbles together a "submersible" from what amounts to fiberglass and videogame parts. what the fuck, seriously

Successful engineers are usually motivated by some combination of the following:

1. Wonder and respect for the natural world and the laws that govern it
2. Desire for precision, order, and creations that fulfill their purpose
3. Pathological anxiety about how things can go wrong with your design

Every word I read about this story sends my No. 3 into overdrive.

Based James Cameron opens up about the sub. Possibly the best plain language analysis of the fuck ups.
A surprisingly candid, yet respectful and sad talk about it.
Because he's done 33 dives to Titanic and dived in the Marianas trench. He's got a passion for it and has never been retarded enough to do something 'experimental'. Anyone with mild competency who went in the fucking thing was horrified that it was a fucking death trap.

A non-continguous material with untestable failure points and could be pried apart by moisture is fucking awful. This guy was a faggot and deserved to die. I will never not say that. Stockton Rush deserved what he got. The titanic expert (Who should have fucking known better) and the kid didn't, but it was Rush that got them killed.

But if you think I'm going to cry over the loss of the WEF memeber Rush who cut corners, a Paki textile and chemical CEO whose empire was built on slavery almost 100% and a private jet CEO catering to the most evil cocksuckers on the planet, you're out of your fucking mind.

What if they had a sub that was the size of a train car, with stuff like transparent aluminium windows, comfortable seats, and a small cocktail bar?

Probably because these guys are into new things. Old stuff that works is fine and all but new is where they get their kicks. Most people do find newness interesting but it's more to guys like these. They just adore the feeling of finding something new and different, many actually made their fame and/or fortune by following these feelings. They find new tech basically inherently so interesting that things like safety protocol or industry standards are just in their way. They really hate being slowed down and fear that others get there first or they loose the drive because the shit they are into now gets old.

Most are still smart enough to know there is a risk and have capacity work in long term but chasing that high is so so tempting. They are unlike to go totally coco bananas but are perfectly willing to cut corners even when there are other safer options. They are adrenaline junkies, just bit different from the usual extreme sports guys.

An article from 2017 with some technical specs:

This tweet claims: the carbon fiber Rush used to rebuild the Titan's hull he got cheap from Boeing because it was "past its shelf-life"
I couldn't find the source of the article. Edit - found an article:

On a previous dive one of the horizontal thrusters was installed backwards.
When they finally descended to the Titanic all they could do was 360s

(couldn't upload video because site too slow atm)

Edit - Rush filed a patent Acoustic Real-time Monitoring System During descent, a computer sends acoustic pings to 20 sensors through the carbon-fiber hull, to detect weakness.

But according to this user: "the idea that the "Realtime Monitoring System" would give them some extra safety on an actual fail is ridiculous.
The only safety it would give you is knowledge of the accumulated damage. The computer may have known 10ms before failure it was going to happen."

Because it sounds cool and saves on weight to use meme technologies and materials.

Because it worked, as retarded as it looks and sounds. People fixating on the controller seem to be in a bubble surrounded by video games and can't look at the other designs like the hull.
That shitty controller is the red M&M in a bowl where you only wanted brown M&Ms. When youre asking for somebody to do something that requires incredibly technical and dangerous work to be done, you should at least see a wired first party controller thats mint. That logitech controller tells me, everybody in this thread and all the billionaires who said no to this jackass before he got lucky that this was always going to be a shitshow.

LOL the spongmonkey commercials...I miss Quiznos. Their toasted italian subs tasted so much better than Subways.
L and/or G but Quiznos does still exist, there's actually one right close to me. Might dive in for lunch actually, I don't trust the structural integrity of Subway bread :^)
