I came to the conclusion that Andrews attempted to save Captain smith from going down with the ship at the very last min.
My reasoning is based on accounts of Andew's last known location, with one witness saying he was going to save the captain directly, and one witness saying he was outside the bridge with the captain and jumped off shortly before it hit the water.
From then on I hypnotize Andrews died shortly, but Smith lived long enough to talk to some people and recommit to going down. It was a while back when I was going over this but if someone could cross check the accounts that would be cool.
No I believe you could be right. From what I could find Andrews was seen by one witness heading quickly to the Bridge, and he stated "I'm going for Smith, theres no reason he has die here" and another witness said they
may have seen Andrews and Smith on the starboard side of the balconey next to the Bridge, looking over at the bow, which was just beginning its final plunge. Of course at this point panic was setting in and the witness didn't know what happened afterwards. I couldn't find anyone saying they saw them after the sinking.
If they went in its likely the cold got to them quickly.
He walked off something that should have killed him 10 times over, without so much as frostbite.
Which brings me to Joughin, and yeah the guy is a medical miracle, while Brandy and Vodka are two spirits that are reputed to share fortifying properties against the cold, its usually because alcohol dilates the blood vessels, allowing warm blood back into the extremities, but this is at the cost of core temperature.
It should have killed him quicker.
A combination of Alpha Genetics, staying calm and keeping his heart rate down, and not getting his head wet, plus a lot of luck is my guess.
Joughin survived water so cold Carpathias crew observed chunks of sea ice floating among the bodies.
The guy should have died.
He survived for two hours water that will kill a man in 15 minutes.
