I played some Overwatch today.

It still feels wrong. Probably because it IS wrong.

The character interactions don't feel right. Everyone's so bitchy. Whatever happened to old comrades and new, working together for a goal? Even nicer lines feel forced.

Fuck all the battle pass credit I keep earning, GIVE ME BACK MY LOOT BOXES!!!

The Overwatch website has the ages listed for everyone. This is making it even more obvious that no one at the company gives a single shit about the lore, which we already knew but damn.

Illari has quickly become one of my new most hated heroes, everything about her is annoying and she’s also a total bitch. In desperate need of a nerf but it’s anyone’s guess as to if that’ll happen.

Remember back when Orisa was released there was porn of her before the game updated with her in it? Good times. The new characters don't even get in the porn much. Blizzard has even pissed off the pervs. How low can you get.

I noticed that on youtube there aren't anywhere close to as many Overwatch videos being made. Back in the day if a new hero or map came out there were about a million or so strategy guides, reviews, etc. Now there might be a few, and they're low energy and sad.

Character ages are not why this happened, it's the summation of how bad Blizzard is at doing literally anything with this game.

But here's the tl;dr:

• Overwatch 2 replaces Overwatch 1. OG Overwatch is no longer available to play. Physical copies only tell you to go download OverWatch 2.
• Loot boxes replaced with a battle pass that is actually worse than the loot box system with individual skins costing 20 bucks.
• Imagine if TF2 cancelled Mann VS Machine after announcing it and developing it.
• Removed a lot of voice lines from the game so they can redo the lore, which has been mostly done with shipping in mind.
• The "2" is a joke since Smash Bros Ultimate's DLC changed more of its game than this sequel did. Most maps are just the same but at a different time of day, and the new costumes are just slightly modified versions of the old ones.

I could go on, but the gist is literally nothing about this game has been good, and now even the ages are messed up. It used to be that Porn Artists work harder on Overwatch than the devs do, but now it's the Fanfic writers trying harder. Overwatch 2 is one of the most pathetic games released in a decade, and you're either laughing at it because you never got into the series (raises hand) or you're crying because you're watching something you and your friends love die slowly and painfully.

OG Overwatch was a game I could join with just about any friend group, and we'd all have fun, laugh, scream, and occasionally get drunk while playing. I don't know what this bastardized version that calls itself Overwatch is today, but it genuinely makes me sad to see how much Blizzard tried to make it into The Next Big Thing (aka the crazy success that LoL or DOTA 2 has with tournies) and that the "best" thing we got was some retarded Canuck who spazes in his chair to random content.

Overwatch basically patched out all the fun to make it a "serious e-sport" because blizzard will never stop seething over Dota 2. It was genuinely a blast for a couple of years until they started changing entire characters and literally telling you how to play. Worse part is competitive overwatch is dog shit that consist of everyone huddling together behind your tank until everybody build ultimate and then spams them.
Imagine if tf2 balanced everything for there retarded competitive mode that limits classes and bans half the weapons and treated the normal mode as a goofy side mode so noone would play it.

Its way deeper than just OW2 sucking ass and removing/retconning shit. Overwatch 1 was already in a really bad spot before OW2 dropped.

The original Overwatch went neglected for years in favor of this sequel. The time between content updates was pretty big, and the quality of those updates were questionable at best. A lot of cosmetic only updates, new heroes typically fucked the game's balance rather than felt like needed additions.There was a LOT of powercreep that happened with hero buffs and new hero releases, stuns were more obnoxious, healers gained the ability to outheal any damage source with minimal effort instead of just when using an ultimate, tanks that could defend and attack at the same time became the norm, and much more. and the developers turned a blind eye to all of it.

The game became this really unfun bloated mess of everyone just sorta staring at each other through 4+ barriers farming chip damage until someone's one shot ultimate came up. The developers had a very "Mother Knows Best" attitude when it came to balancing it too, they did some of the most ineffective and pointless balance changes I've ever seen from a game, throwing it from bad meta to bad meta. All the way they were actually pretty open with how they'd mock the community for not knowing what it wants, deliberately ignore every piece of feedback given, and just generally kept mismanaging and neglecting the game. Constantly lying to its community throughout the whole thing.

Overwatch is honestly one of the most mismanaged game IPs in history, and the steam reviews it got are well deserved and were a long time coming. This isn't just a review bomb for recent events, yeah those recent events are in everyone's immediate memory, but Overwatch has been a laughingstock for much longer, this is just the first time people have had a real avenue to voice their feelings about the game. As soon as they stepped outside of the Blizzard echo chambers of their official forums or Reddit, they had to face what people really thought of the game.

I've been seeing bus shelter ads for OW2 a fair bit over the past month and even those are shockingly uninspired and low-effort.

What the fuck is this supposed to get you excited for, or even inform you of what the game is? It's like OW is some The Producers-type scam where they're going through the necessary and uninteresting motions of technically developing and promoting a game technically available for the public to purchase as a way to launder money.

I actually don't think that's too likely. Not saying they wouldn't do that, but they would sooner create a transgender stereotype before trying to bend a character into one. Remember Healer #9 (Lifebringer or something) who was literally "Fabulous Sexless Gaysexual Man"? They'd also call the character "Honest" and reveal the Reaper bullied them for being brave and daring. And Null would add Reaper to the home page for a week.

On a side note, D.Va's really cute when she's not talking about what a gamer she is.
