Sony hate thread

Xbox should die with Halo and Halo is absolutely fucking dead

It does make one wonder what the hell is happening with TLOU multiplayer, announced in 2018. ND could have had TLOU3 out by now.
It was rebooted a million different times to try and jump on trends, it started as a Battle Royale, then became a clone of the division, then tarkov
I dont think they could have a TLoU3 out either though, ND is a complete mess ,almost nobody from the original TLoU team is left and they've run out of support teams to throw into the money pit.

And in OTHER news, back at Sony we have...

...

... huh.
Snoy niggas keep getting the L.
Sony isn't even worth ranting about right now, they're just fucking boring.

ACKSHUALLY, SONY IS DOING SO WELL THEY MIGHT JUST OUTSELL THE PEE-ESS TOO. CHECKMATE, HEXBOX AND PRETENDO!

Is anyone actually looking forward to Spider-Man 2? I know there's been a ton of hype built up around it but that's because the Snoys know that it's literally the only fucking PS5 game coming out this year. We also had FFXVI a few months ago but that game was mid af which is why no one ever talks about it. I mean think about it, a brand new FF game came out and nobody cared.

Nope. I hate capeshit. The dialogue alone makes me not wanna play it. So far the only exclusive ps5 games I’ve liked have been demons souls and FFXVI, and both are 3rd party.

He was talking about the whole Windows Phone ecosystem, how it tried and failed to take on the iPhone and Android. That Surface Duo is just another Android. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Mobile

Well, that reeks of desperation. Let's see... PlayStation 2 was originally released in 1999, while the PlayStation 5 was 2020. 21 years apart. Meanwhile, the Super Nintendo (as Super Famicom) was released in 1990, while the Xbox One was 2013. 23 years apart.

"The Xbox One was a rousing international success, even outselling the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, a machine often cited as the greatest game console of all time" - some journoscum somewhere

Given how off topic this thread has gotten, I wanted to pose a dual thought experiment. Once playstation has a new more permanent CEO, it will likely be accompanied by a somewhat shifted direction for the division, for better or worse. What would playstation have to do in order to regain your support? Conversely, what would playstation have to do to become so shit that even their current crop of apple-lite sycophants abandon them?

If they want people to play their console then they need to make games. If they want to keep dwindling and dying then just keep nor making games.

For me:
  • start making very Japanese games in house again
  • make game games not moviegames
  • stop demanding lewd games be censored

For the diehards:

From what I've seen many of the people that get way into Sony tend to think they age out of gaming because they don't enjoy the unenjoyable games Sony makes and pushes hard. So IMO they're training their own audience to not buy their next console.

The PSP and maybe PS1 are the only Playstation systems I actually liked, everything else is neutral at best to me (yes, even PS2). But if I had to choose something to at least bring me back to PS3 levels of “good enough”, they need to respect their past and just make some freaking games. Bring back franchises like Little Big Planet, Motorstorm, Wipeout, Ape Escape, Modnation Racers. Why not bring back a smaller franchise like LocoRoco or Echochrome to fill in a release gap? Maybe even 3D Dot Game Heroes or Work Time Fun or Hot Shots Golf (excuse me, “Everybody’s Golf”). Not every game has to be a Cinematic Experience™️; in fact, most of them shouldn’t be.

The only thing that could bring them down to that level is to make their system modern Mac levels of tedious to develop for. As long as they can mooch off third party AAAs, people will flock to Playstation because it’s all they’ve ever known.

Good question. I'm not sure PlayStation will ever has a place in my home ever again. Their heavy-handed push for wokeness put a very bad taste in my mouth, but it also made me re-evaluate how much I actually need more than a couple of gaming platforms overall. It used to make a lot more sense to have one of each console because everyone had their exclusives, but that's just not the case anymore. It was already rare to find another person in real life who bought at least one of every console so they could play it all, but now, there's just no good reason. If you really want it all, you buy a PC, full stop. And with SteamOS gradually improving, I could just use an old computer instead of a dedicated console for games and TV.

Not to mention, a PS5 still costs $500, and that's $500 I don't want to part with. Short of outright just giving one to me for free in a sweepstakes, I sincerely doubt I will ever own a PS5, unless I can get one for pocket change down the line. And even that's questionable, because I'm already drowning in old electronics, and do I really need yet another thing sitting around?

They would need to be completely and utterly eradicated from the market, much like how the Walkman brand just got vaporized by the iPod. I know the Walkman is still around, in Android MP3 player who-actually-buys-these form, so I figure it'd take something really revolutionary to knock the PlayStation brand out for good.

I think generally they'll need to find a new niche that isn't just "a slightly modified PC APU with really, really good graphics"

Emulating the Switch's portability might be neat, but that's already a pretty full market. Some form of 3D hologram box or projector would be novel and space age, but is very expensive with today's technology. Maybe an AR system like the Microsoft Hololens or Apple Vision Pro, but hooked up to a powerful base station?

Either way bot Microsoft and Sony have to do something because the Xbox and PlayStation have become nothing more then a single use PC and as actual PCs become more console like, that won't be an edge that sells well.

Idk, PC ports have been getting worse and PC parts are stupidly priced to the point of driving people away from PC gaming.

1. Sic the yakuza on Druckmann.
2. Cut the shit out with all their games having to be Very Important prestige titles.
3. Diversify away from everything being a third person action adventure with light stealth and crafting elements movie game.
4. Days Gone 2.

Granted, I still won't buy a console like I'm a subhuman niggercattle, but I'd buy the PC ports.

If you break the numbers down properly the attachment rate of PlayStation exclusives to overall console sales the argument for exclusives flies out the window.
"As of September 2023, the cumulative sales of Sony's PlayStation 4 gaming console had risen to more than 117 million units"
"God of War also performed well commercially, selling over 5 million units within a month of its release and 23 million units sold by November 2022, making it one of the best-selling PlayStation 4 games and the best-selling game in the series."
117 million consoles, only 23 million copies of one of their flagship exclusive games.

You can go down the list with all of their titles like this and compare them but the majority of consumers do not buy the exclusive titles if they buy a platform. It might be an initial selling point that convinces a consumer to buy the console but the majority do not commit beyond the console to the handful of first party games.

The console should be about having the better Eco system but I think all of them fall flat on that front.

Nothing they'd ever actually do. Them being woke is worse than having no games. Even if they dropped out of the Wokeism cult ot wouldn't be enough, they'd need to actively be based.

Release an anti-tranny walking sim where you play as Matt Walsh and press X to ask "What is a Woman?" and then we'll talk.

Fire Druckmann and Herman Hulst, rehire/buy up all the japanese studios they fired + the wipeout team, poach Nagoshi, Kamiya, Mikami etc back from china. Either drop their china hero project or make similar projects for other countries instead of solely sucking zhang micropenis, re-establish ties with japanese third party developers and make some kind of anti-censorship pledge. I know they won't do any of that but that's what it'd take.

Conversely, what would playstation have to do to become so shit that even their current crop of apple-lite sycophants abandon them?
Remove one gay flag from one game or do any similar unwoke thing, that's all it'd take because those vocal "fans" dont actually really care about the games
