Saw the hot Wegman's sushi talk and wanted to add some context.
Grocery stores have a 2% profit margin, on average, with most being barely above 1%. This means that employee wages have a significant impact on pricing. The reason why Wegmans and Publix and Whole Foods charge more is because they pay a higher salary than Kroger and Food Lion, who pay barely above minimum wage.

Sushi prices in the USA are laughably outrageous. It's stupidly simple to make sushi. If you love eating sushi, watch a video or two and learn to make your own. The rice vinegar, sugar and salt (sushi vinegar) can be easily made in the microwave or even bought pre-mixed. Rice is simple as fuck if you steam it, especially so if you have a rice cooker. I know most chefs say to start with maki (classic roll with rice inside), but I think uramkai (rice on the outside, the goods on the inside) is easier and more forgivable. Maki rolls suffer greatly from not knowing your limits for filling. Your first few rolls will likely look like shit, fall apart, be over or under stuffed, etc. Keep at it, though, and you'll be making perfect sushi rolls in no time. As you get better, you might even be able to make decorative rolls (the classic "embedded heart" roll with red or pink dyed rice is a big pleaser for Valentine's day) and it's a good skill that can be easily learned, but carries a lot of wonderment and prestige with many in the West. I always tell people that making sushi is like riding a bike: it can sound complicated and difficult, and to an extent it is when initially learning, but you will adapt quickly and it becomes very intuitive with very few repetitions.

Pro Tip: You don't need a sushi mat. Take a rag and put it into a plastic freezer bag, pushing out all the air before sealing it. Congrats, you have made a sushi mat. Most sushi mats suck anyways, and they need to be/should be wrapped in saran wrap or a plastic bag anyways.

I love sushi, but I found the whole thing became demystified when I realised the Japanese basically just treat rice like bread/pastry. The premium in the west is ridiculous. You can get good conveyor belt sushi in Japan for like 50 cents a piece (Yen exchange rate is in the dumpster right now).

I think unilaterally painting her as the victim of all of this would be infantilizing her and mistakenly assuming she has no agency in her life whatsoever. Reasonably speaking, she's an adult who's most likely living a life that's ostensibly the product of her own decisions/actions rather than some sort of mindless slave helplessly tied to the balldo anchor.

Sure. But it sounds as though she's been brought up in a deeply religious Christian culture, where the primary objective is to 'stand by your man'. My guess is that she'd be deeply conflicted about the tension between her long-held childhood values -- values that she still appears to want to cling to -- and the seductions of modern culture, the stuff that Rekieta keeps on trying to sell to her. Nights out at the gay bar, hanging out with swingers and people from the BDSM scene, holidays in Hedonism II, etc. Nick will be attemptiing to justify them as acceptable as long as they remain 'monogamous', but she's not stupid. He might not be actually doing the deed with people outside of his marriage, but he's clearly obsessed with it. That has to take it's toll on her.

And my own experience has been that those profound contradictions between deeply held, longstanding values and living in a way that is inconsistent with those values is often the source of serious mental health problems.

But if that's the case, Kayla is the only person who can fix those things. And it seems unlikely that they'd get fixed while she continues living with Nick. Homeopathic medicine, CBD products and weekly trips to the osteopath all seem like desperate attempts to assuage her psychic pain, but all will be doomed to failure because none of them are addressing the real issue. But leaving him would be the most life-shattering decision she's ever made. Husband and family have been at the centre of her existance for at least the last twenty years. people in that situation don't just walk away on a whim. Even when they're deeply unhappy for years and years, they'll often 'stick it out for the sake of the kids', not actually leaving until the youngest goes off to college.

So I don't see her as a victim, but she does strike me as someone that's profoundly unhappy with her lot in life -- how could she not be -- and change is going to be really difficult for her. So I do empathize with her.

But I'd feel sorry for any woman who had to live with Nick.

Edit: I thought there'd have to be some research on the relationship between values and behaviour and how that impacts on mental health, and surely enough, there is.

There are so many Rekieta-adjacent people that I don't know the lore of and it would be a convenient place for other threads like Lawtubers, Juju, and Drexel.

The Lawtube Thread over in Community Watch is really dead, indicating there's very demand for non-Nick Lawtube discussion.

Sometimes when I remember to post over there, it feels like posting on a personal blog that no one reads.

This type of behavior is slimey. It's the "You know who you are!". If people take offense to this are then met with "I didn't name names you Disloyal Practicing Shyster Lawyer!" Not clever, we all see through it. Please keep thinking you are the smartest person in the room.

The only name that Nick consistently alludes to re: touching the cow is Himedall and her chat scraper. He seethed about it again this week on a Locals stream with his "nothing better to do than count Josh's pubic hairs" swipe.

And he never directly mentions her by name, only the Locals chat fallout.

He also made a snide callout about AnOminus a few months back implying that their legal takes were often wrong (again, implying thread reading). This is likely due to the fact that Nick remembers them back from the Weeb War days.
