Ironically, he's fatter than Pat but he'll be less forgotten. He got a lot of money but will end up forgotten in the literary world. A fitting end for a fat man.
In short, George met with his publisher who's the son of his previous publisher and he probably has not made any progress on The Winds of Winter for this past year.Bitch, tl;dw your post because no one is going to watch two faggots talking for 10 minutes to get to the actual point
I honestly think this is the issue, kinda. He's not writing at the same time, but rather he's "syncing" both books together so he won't end up with two or more books to write. What if he releases a double feature with the two books at the same time. Would you forgive him?
More dunk and egg when?
It's just wishful thinking. Delusional really. People still think that 'King Bran' didn't come from GRRM either.I randomly had a stupid moment and went to the song of ice and fire Reddit. I'm absolute flabergasted that there are people still talking about "fans are entitled" or "he's not lazy". I'm doubly baffled by how he wrote 3 solid books, followed up with 2 incredibly shitty books and he's still getting felated to this day.
Based on the timeline of the story, where the characters are, and how many POVs there are (including the new ones from Feast and Dance), he has essentially triple the amount of main character arcs now. And none of his characters die anymore. Jon Snow is coming back to life. Catelyn is still undead. He only kills off minor characters and then introduces more characters to bloat things further.I honestly think this is the issue, kinda. Ya know it should be mentioned that later on this year Tolkein's Fall of Gondolin will be released for the first time...45 years after Tolkein died. Hell he died back when Martin was busy bitching out of the Vietnam War draft.....and yet he is STILL releasing new books with greater regularity than Martin.
Im serious. The dessicated skeleton of J.R.R Tolkein is a more productive writer than this overhyped walrus.
Don't think characters but rather storylines. There's gonna be a few wars upcoming. One, in the North, there is chance for a lot of characters dying there. Then you have an eventual invasion in the South by the Others. which's gonna decimate a lot of knights and fighters. The only ones we need to knwo what their fates are are the ones with PoV chapters:It's just wishful thinking. Delusional really. People still think that 'King Bran' didn't come from GRRM either.

Realistically he needs four more books unless he rushes the story or just wipes out half the cast instantly.
It gets better. Most of the weird plotlines in the show came from an old draft GRRM did for AFFC/ADWD. The theory is that D&D asked for story beats for the show, and George lazily sent them something out of date. It's just wishful thinking. Delusional really. Option two seems to be a lot more relevant to that "my stories are real and raw" till it was made crystal clear that some characters are untouchables so it's just doing Berserk again where you shockingly kill multiple characters only to keep everything incredibly stable after the dust settles. If George Porgey really bites the dust, I wonder what would people prefer as the final fate of Dany:
* Being killed after going psycho and burning alive tens of thousands of people and sacking her own kingdom.
* Shitting a massive diarrhea and being captured by a bunch of rapists.
It's never coming out. George is just stalling until he dies. It's obvious he was having trouble resolving the story even before the show came out and I'm sure the reaction to the last couple of seasons killed any motivation he had to finish. I would rather he just made more history books with little stories about the universe like The World of Ice and Fire instead at this point. Put your faith in Sanderson instead, who actually has a professional work ethic. Is Winds of Winter out?
Aw. So long in the dark even the spark from a Farms thread updating starts to look like light.
Also do we even know why the seasons in Westeros are so disjointed? GRRM did say there was a reason for it, but doubt it was an astrological one.
Magic does it. And by "it" I mean the seasons themselves and then everything downstream of that: the flora, fauna, and their entire medieval agrarian socio-economic milieu. It's all infused with magic so that it just works. GRRM is notorious for not thinking many of his big decisions through and in my opinion the "seasons that last for years" gimmick is one of the most glaringly ill-conceived ones. It breaks pretty much everything if you think about it for more than five minutes. It's no wonder that the Targ books and the House of the Dragon show based on them severely downplay it compared to ASoIaF/GoT.Also do we even know why the seasons in Westeros are so disjointed? GRRM did say there was a reason for it, but doubt it was an astrological one.
Hope springs eternal, but every time these discussions come up I'm reminded of the fact that as the story stands now we aren't even at the halfway point. We're almost there, but the characters for the most part have not reached the point in their (presumed) arcs where they pivot and start moving back towards the center / final conflict(s). Everyone is still spinning out. And this has been George's problem for awhile, not helped by permissive editors, permissive publishers, and permissive circumstances thanks to HBO.I honestly think this is the issue, kinda. He's not writing at the same time, but rather he's "syncing" both books together so he won't end up with two or more books to write.
If -big, big if- this is the situation, I'd say we'd have a chance of seeing the final book published perhaps one or two years after the previous one.
Best he can do is let Jon die proper, kill Danny from diarrhea and Tyrion from being at the circus and another 15 characters and just wing it from there. Would be a shitshow, but it would at least be a funny shitshow.Sure, anything is possible and he could spring a few shocking die-offs that severely trim and focus the story.
I disagree. Storylines are starting to converge. Victarian and Tyrion are converging with Dany's plot. The Dorne plot is inching closer to King's Landing. And winter will slowly start pushing everybody south.Everyone is still spinning out.
Ah memories. Waiting six years for Dance to come out and sitting there dumbfounded that he put Tyrion in the circus and added a lady dwarf. Would be even funnier if I knew that 12 years later the next one doesn't even have a release date.Best he can do is let Jon die proper, kill Danny from diarrhea and Tyrion from being at the circus and another 15 characters and just wing it from there. The only issue is that GRRM didn't finish the plots in the last book, so book 6 is going to be like 40% wrapping up Dances with Dragons plotlines before moving to end game stuff. It should move quickly once we get there, though.
Just kidding, there will never be a book 6. Trump will win in 2024 and GRRM will stroke out and die.
It would be a shrewd move to send the TV guys outdated plot lines that ended up revised so he could save the REAL ending for his books. The problem is I do not think GRRM is a shrewd person so it probably was what he what he had in mind for the end.It gets better. Most of the weird plotlines in the show came from an old draft GRRM did for AFFC/ADWD. The theory is that D&D asked for story beats for the show, and George lazily sent them something out of date.
Dany going crazy was actually one of the few things I didn't mind about the ending. Going full dragon Fuhrer made sense considering she was always kind of an arrogant idealistic twit. The show could have done a better job building up to it but the idea itself was good. Unlike voting in the autistic crippled kid and Jon Snow fucking off back to the wall for some (no) reason. Snow taking control with Bran as his Hand would have been more logical. If George Porgey really bites the dust, I wonder what would people prefer as the final fate of Dany:

I think it was due to the presence of the Others, but as another poster pointed out, this is simply handwaved as magic presence. The Wall remains that same way for a long time? Magic. Seasons that last years? Magic. The Targaryens' natural ability to tame dragons? Magic. The ability to resurrect dead people without a soul? Magic. Also do we even know why the seasons in Westeros are so disjointed? GRRM did say there was a reason for it, but doubt it was an astrological one.
