So it turns out that Transponder is not available as of right now. I got my bank on my alt 3DS working, but it just brings me to the dead 3DS shop page when I want to download the Transponder. That means that only my original 3DS has both the Transponder and Dream Catcher on it. Shame, I consider all three apps integral to playing Gen 5-7 games on the 3DS, it's depressing to think the new players will not get the same experience we did. Once the console breaks or is otherwise inoperable, it's going to be a barrel of fun to get it repaired or to get the content transferred on another console. It's not like these things are infamous for their crappy plastic hinges breaking all the time!
Since it's the season of giving, and I have access to them, I decided to go back to my copy of Pokemon Blue Virtual Console to get a bunch of OG Pokemon and wonder trade it to some lucky Gen 7 players once transferred. I had the Old Man/Missingno glitch set up already, so all I had to do was catch a bunch of Pokemon from the coast line using my infinite Master Balls. What Pokemon you get is determined by your last location and your name, I got a whole bunch of lv 100 Cleafable(with each having perfect HP, Speed, SpD and SpA almost all the time), Fearows, Dittos and Sandslash. Keep in mind that each Pokemon transferred from VC games not only has a unique Game Boy mark, but it also has at least 3 guaranteed perfect IVs and a hidden ability. The Cleafable one was a great gift to the other players, it's extremely easy to get and it's more or less the best non-legendary Fairy type in the game ready to battle once you give it some decent moves. Hell, you can even transfer them over to Gen 8 or 9 if you wish, makes it all the worse that VC games and Transponder/Bank are now lost media.
I used the Missingno glitch to not only get infinite Master Balls but also fossils, Old Amber and Helix in this case. I am currently giving away Aerodactyls but I am also planning to do the same with Omanytes. The latter I can confirm I use on regular bases for my own competitive purposes, Weak Armor complements Omastar really well and most people think you're running the Swift Swim set so they underestimate you
I watched that yesterday, too. Funny enough, this is actually really good competitively: Gengar has high speed and access to Skill Swap. This means that this set is not unlike the Trick set, just with an ability rather than an item. I can see it being really good in doubles, or even triples/rotation battles if transferred to Gen 5(which has no checks for illegal Pokemon unlike the Bank), so I think I will gen myself a NIGGER as well. Being able to give Truant to other Pokemon is an underrated strategy, one only usable with the likes of Slaking and Alakazam in double battles, which is obviously very niche and un-reliable. A Truant Pokemon that can transfer this ability to someone else by itself and on the first turn is unique, and I don't think any Pokemon like that exists currently legitimately.
