Tabletop Roleplaying Games (D&D, Pathfinder, CoC, ETC.)

I doubt they even tried it once. Most RPG people and board gamers I know buy shit tons of stuff they never ever play. Even Spoony has a wall of books he's never played.

One of my pet peeves with RPGs is all these different rule systems, but pretty much every group has 5e and a house game (usually CoC or PathFinder) and play nothing else.
Buying books that are never used is what holds up the entire industry. Trpgs are sadly tricky to monetize.

Sonicfags and 5E players are still crying fascism over Warhammer 40K.
wanna see something worse?

imagine getting triggered by a fucking 4chan meme in 2023 :story:

D&D has a ton of brand recognition to coast on.
that's the big question, because there are arguments right now that the people aren't there for dnd, they are there for the "idea", critical role, matt colville etc., with the idea becoming worse day by day due to wotc actions, and all the "influencers" moving beyond dnd with their own systems and taking the people that watch them. 5e got big through all critical role, not the other way around, if they suddenly play daggerheart or whatever it's called that's what people will flock to.

the name is sure big enough in the normiesphere, but normies don't spend over thousand bucks for the legendary bundle on dndb. same way they didn't storm the cinemas when the movie was released. heck all of wotc's antics and their new VTT are attempts to get their hands on those sweet normalfag and player (not DM) wallets.

Rogue Trader's probably have the most freedom out of anyone in the imperium. So it's weird to get hung up on that when you operate outside of the mainstream society. To the point where you can hang out with aliens without having a googly eyed zealot burn you at the stake.

If that's representative of the forum as a whole there might be Community Watch potential there.
yes and no. the setup is that every game has it's own forum, with extra subforums. every download has it's own comment section etc., so a bit hard to keep an eye on everything unless someone spots something. and it means sometimes you get stuff like https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/111247/hexcrawl

I find the following specific items problematic:
Adventure Booklet:
P 16, "Degenerate
[Reroll if the Town has the keyword ‘Law’ or the trait ‘Law-Abiding’]
The womenfolk here aren’t safe to walk the streets alone. Any Female Hero that visits a Town Location without a Male Hero is at risk of being assaulted. If unaccompanied, make a Strength 4+ test. If failed, that Female Hero takes
Hits (1 Damage each) and rolls on the Injury Chart if she suffers more than 3 Wounds."
This entire encounter is as needless and offensive. The *only* purpose it serves is to remind people that, even in a board game, they're subject to sexual assault.

P 18, "Fancy House
Every night you stay in this Town, each Hero rolls a D8. On a 1 or 2, a Male Hero loses $50 and gains the keyword ‘Rash’. While you have ‘Rash’, your Hero is -25% Health (rounded up). This may be removed at the Doc’s Office with a Surgery attempt. On a roll of 8, that Hero instead loses $100 and may remove one Madness. Female Heroes who roll a 7 or 8 may gain $100 if they choose to."
The game doesn't need mechanics for brothels, especially ones that force characters into sexual encounters.

I haven't yet looked at the encounters book, and wasn't planning on it.

I'm not particularly familiar with Native cultures, but the whole Kemosabe/Paleface status seems pretty tone deaf, too.
it's a fan mod to a pulpy weird-west co-op game, and people basically go "yeah, no" (tbh surprised even me since BGG is a pozzed shithole more often than not and boardgame makers are usual apex soibois caving harder than the average indie vidyadev).

pretty sure the leafcuck with the kekistani flag is a secondary too and doesn't even own the game, "he" just saw it on some raid-discord somewhere and decided to make a big deal out of it, like your average 4chan trannyjanny or perpetual online twittard. assault on doomrock was niche af even back then, I doubt many people heard about the new version's kickstarter.

I mean, technically they can, but you have a loicense for that.

I stopped going to /tg/ after finding this thread. It's much better quality.
Just that thread and not by the fact that every thread on /tg/ is a endless barrage of garbage like:
"How slutty are the elves in your setting"
"Why are dragons always like this"
"AoS is so cool, why don't grognards play it"
"How do you rate Kitsunes in TTRPGs"
"Can (insert character/setting) beat 40K"
"Casters > Maritals"

Apparently a thread on /tg/ about a recently deceased Troon named Jennell (deadname Paul) Jaquays has shown up. Just glancing through the thread, I noticed that the mods and jannies are deleting any post that mentions Paul's deadname.
But if you can't mention a troon's deadname, then why don't they ban mentioning him at all? Both his names are dead now but for real.

One of my players took zero notes, but had a decent memory and really just there to play tactical games, so went along with the plot without much fuss.
I am guilty of this, still fucks me up when I ask for clarification and my DM just tells me that I should remember. Cheeky cunt. Take notes everybody, it helps.

I'll never understand why people buy so many books for rules and games they will never touch. It baffles me. Same thing when people announced that 'X property is getting a tabletop game!' like good for you, nobody is going to ever play that shit.

Daggerfart will be the only one that MAYBE has some traction because Critical Role, it might even be nice to have 5e 'freed up' from all the faggots who are obsessed with CR. Though that's probably just wishful thinking on my part on account of getting banned from my last group full of the fuckers.

There is a lot of player attitude that goes into it as well.
You just want to be Thorgar the barbarian who will show up and slaughter whatever robe-wearing Knife Ears says so long as robed knife ears makes your owies stop leaking without really caring who you are chopping in half other than how cool it makes it you look, I will work with you on that.
I wouldn't have much fun running that, but I'm the arbiter of fun not the dictator.

My issue is when players don't take notes but then try to derail or direct the plot - either because they don't know what's going on and demand to be informed, or because they are trying to think outside the box and expect the world to accomodate their stupid, prep-destroying plan.

sometimes it's nice to broaden your horizon and/or you like the project and want to support it.

however I'm one of those weird people who reads boardgame manuals to know they actually work and play instead of going "oh, pretty".

I'm looking for a program similar to AuroraBuilder, OR updated sources for AuroraBuilder.

just a 5e character builder? iirc there's one around since I've seen talk about how wotc tried to dmca-fuck them, but can't remember the name.
maybe ask in /5eg/ over in /tg/ (it's not all bad, some threads are worse than others), reddit jannies are turbocucks when it comes to shutting down discussion anything wotc doesn't want people to know.
