Dumb question. Is there a reason you guys are posting on mediafire/external sites?

Hopefully the finished wad can be posted on KF, or else the whole idea might be in the shitter.

Still plenty to be done but I'd figure I'll submit an early version in case I don't feel like working on it again.
I thought you would've waited until we got confirmation on custom enemies working?

People probably don't know that you can attach ZIPs, but not many other file formats here.

Very much a WIP. Keen's sprite is very simplistic so I'm aiming to keep that with hanging trans wojak here. Also gave him a feminine boner for extra trigger points. Criticism more than welcome. Will save and upload as transparent file when satisfied.

If anybody wants custom sprites please tag me. I'll write your names down and work through requests.

My bad, I barely make posts, didn't know you could attach non media files.

I thought you would've waited until we got confirmation on custom enemies working?
I can post a version that replaces the custom Imps with regular ones if you'd like, like I said this is an early version that I posted because the map file is a fucking mess and I might not finish it.
But at least it seems custom entities work just fine with a single WAD file, I looked up adding custom textures however and it looks like the only way to add those is by changing the texture pool in the base game WAD.

We still don't have a definitive answer on how the map files will be compiled, are we going for individual WADs?
If that's the case custom enemies/decorations should be fine as long as you keep the file size low. Textures will need to be added to a pool everyone can use.
Also are we going for any cohesion or increasing difficulty? Or is each map going to be it's own thing?

But maybe upper yellow teeth, and black around the teeth to make it stand out?

I've attached the image. I think a good idea would be to see how it looks in the game and adjust as needs be. I actually really want to do the other Keen sprites too because I couldn't help but entertain the thought of what the death animation would look like.

Its definitely a map, but you could do better. Maps pretty simple, ammo is just barely enough. You could certainly do much better, I know it.

While I agree that his respect has eroded into being little more than a hasbeen, the mapping principles aren't bad tips.

Practical info : how to make a mapinfo lump, for particularly importing music assets inside your wad.
Site to find "mod" music, which is low file size but can sound ok.

Thank you for the feedback. I was just doing what @Judge Dredd said and made something simple. I'll definitely improve the map, although I am a beginner at mapping and this was my first level.

Can definitely make the art. The Commander Keen sprites are really simple so whipping something up will take no time.
You could easily do a better job than me. I spent 20 minutes trying to make a decent sprite before Alt + F4'ing and considering throwing my PC out the window.
The sprite is like 4 pixels, why am I so retarded

Edit: just saw the Keen Troon sprites. Why did I never consider using smaller pixels, instead of using the regular pixel size, and trying to fit everything in a 14x51px space.

Cool sprite tho, fucking golden.

Pixel art is infamously easy to learn but hard to master. Literally anybody can make something like this generic 2D indie survival horror protagonist:

But to make something like Pinky requires an understanding of multiple different artistic skills. The only reason I'm super autistic when it comes to pixel art is because I used to do it in MS Paint when I was bored waiting for my parents to let me use the internet or during IT classes at high school.
 
I used to map back in the late 90s and will contribute only if the resultant megaWAD is called The Official Memento Mori III: Doomworld Tribute Edition.
I'm behind on my Doomworld lore; any reason for that name?
 
Had a bitch of a time trying to figure out how to make monster closet traps for some reason, but I figured it out in the end. I hope the map is fun, but I'm not the best when it comes to actual map balance and flow, it's a thing I've always struggled with.

Any opinions on custom content yet? I want to have a custom midi or song for my map, but I don't want to cause any issues. If it comes down to it I might just post a version with the custom music and one without.

This will take some time, but the furfag's video have been incredibly more helpful than any written guide. I appreciate how WYSIWYG UDB is. The % is going to act like two "boss" arenas with the dash funcitoning as a resupply once I figure out how to make teleporters.

Would be better if you were able to see it in full when using the minimap.
Besides, are the map themes going to all be random or are meant to be offensive and/or about lolcows?
 
Been wanting to throw my hat in the ring. So here's a half baked phone ms paint level map called "get that mother fucker" or "mother fucker" for short.

It is short and sweet which can be tacked onto another level if need be. Essentially there's 2 zones. The orange zone which is street side, can't progress into the carpark as there's a gunt blockade. Find or use a key marked by the purple dot to progress into the adjacent building/garage which has a back door into reception leading into red zone.

When exiting reception on the ground floor the first lot of demons are released by a false wall, which also repeats on every balcony level. Triggered when opening each balcony door maybe?

3rd floor door is opened by key found in the carpark which could be the exit or back ally as drawn. 2nd level could contain a secret opened by a button.

Yes this is an entire chrischan reference. Just feels right to include it.
