I he had the slightest clue how the US economy works, he never would have said this.

Anyway, the Russkies are saying he was tortured ad extorted:
"Gonzalo Lira's torturers were allegedly trying to extort $500,000 from him, and killed him after he told his lawyer. (The US embassy was trying to deal with it.) "
Based as fuck. Take a foreign collaborator and extort the money he in revenue made from supporting in your mortal enemy back to you. (jokes aside, there's going to be a lot of fanfiction and propaganda from this. It will probably take some time to find out what really happened, if we ever find out.)

Excuse you? Millenarialism and Prepperism are key elements of American "culture".

Iran-Contra moment.

I disagree. There is no one in Gaza to liberate. Donetsk and Luhansk had every justification to attempt to secede.
Israel and Palestine is much more akin to Kiev invading Donetsk/Luhansk following Euromaidan.
You have a region, that is outside the national identity, and that wants it's own self-determination.
They must be destroyed.

And that's not even getting into the fact that Israel enjoys the full support of the western global economy and it's menagerie of military alliances, while Russia supported Donetsk and Luhansk for a decade in the face of the entire geopolitical order.
When you actually sit down and think about it, it becomes apparent the situations are not at all similar.

Israel only becomes like Ukraine if the Arab countries decide to invade on behalf of the Palestinian Arabs.
But it still wouldn't be similar in the way that you are implying.
So, according to you, Gaza and the East Strip are a part of Israel and Palestinians are Israeli citizens (that explains why they win every election!) but they don't share the national identity of Israel.

Now, THAT'S a galaxy brain take.

Well that certainly is a historical idea that is impossible to imagine to ever happen or have happened.

No shit. So why are we supporting this worthless despotic shithole?
Because certain leaders said so. They're involved in a rivalry with Russia and they're extracting as high a cost for Ukraine as possible. It's transactional in nature and it's surprising how many people in this thread seem to have trouble realizing it. Words like democracy and freedom are just how leaders describe their allies.
Despite his name CRP seemed very un-redpilled about the political situation he was inserting himself into.

Why does every leader have to be insane? Why can't countries be like web forums and be run by normal people, like Lowtax, Graph, Null or Hotweels?

Lowtax's country would be an empire that stretches out like Rome at its peak and then collapses, only to a small fraction of what it was.
Null's country would be basically Israel if they didn't have deep-pocketed friends; a tiny country surrounded by other countries that want to wipe it off the map.
Hotwheels' country would be like the United States in the late 18th century, but if George Washington decided to basically abandon the country and let it turn into basically Haiti.

I don't know who Graph is.

Tradition at this point. Examples range from America's Cold War "allies" like the ARNV, Contras, military dictatorships in South America, the Afghan government (not Taliban), the """"moderate"""" Islamists that fought against the Syrian regime, etc...

Just a point though, Singapore does not have free speech either, and it's multiethnic, they made it work them, so, I guess not having free speech can work out for a specific country in some senses. Wouldn't condone it, tho. Just thought that it is an interesting point. I also don't think Ukraine is ready to have free speech. Not because free speech is bad, but I guess it takes some time of cultural growth and tolerance, and they are just not at that point.

And hell, look at how good the world is becoming at deplatforming at a high level and at the individual one; having people call your place of work to extort them if you post "no-no" content online with your real identity.

Cool I get to use this link again https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Game
See I thought we were all on the same page already. Why do people insist on taking world powers like the US or Russia at face value? This is just what we do. We arm each other's enemies because we both have nukes.

Why does everyone get stuck in Afghanistan, anyway? It’s a landlocked shithole in the worst part of Asia, with no money or strategic value. You’d think people would just ignore it, but instead every empire gets obsessed with it.

such stripping of fundamental rights
This shit is why so many people outside of America hate Americans. These rights don't exist in any country except the one that has not faced any real threat in over 200 years. You don't like that? Stay in America.
>rule of law is good unless a blue checkmark on twitter tells me to be mad about it
European countries have a far more pragmatic approach to freedom of speech for historical reasons and I believe the US is currently learning that lesson the hardest way, with social media shittery and tiktok memes wrecking an entire generation.

He knowingly broke the law and he was tried for it. No rights were infringed. Nobody gives a shit. The only people crying crocodile tears are the same ones who make up bullshit about Ukraine to sell it to their audience. What the Ukrainian authorities do or don't do is completely irrelevant because these grifters just say whatever they want and their audience simply believes it without doing any research.

That's the real marketplace of ideas: People buy whatever news they like hearing without regard to truth or reason, so people like CRP tell them what they want to hear, no matter how delusional and retarded, and the outraged customer will act on these "news" as though they were actually true. You see that play out everwhere, including on kiwifarms, every day.
It's not difficult to see why it might be socially desirable to shut that shit down: Millions of people get radicalized into actions that are to the extreme detriment of their home society, and to the benefit of the foreign government that organizes this subversion.

>CRP was tortured
He had the time to record a ten minute video and he couldn't even show a bruise. IIRC he even claimed fellow inmates used sophisticated torture and intimidation that wouldn't show any signs when the guards checked his health.
Of course CRP would never lie about anything.
Let's take him at his word, it's fact now. Let's believe what we want to believe and get mad about it, don't ask who wants you to be emotional and not thinking.

Its strategic value is actually pretty significant. Its the crossroad between empires, bordering China, Russia, Iran and perhaps one day India depending on how effectively Pakistan can manage its decline
Its mountains hold valuable rare earth resources as well to my knowledge
Insofar as the US is concerned strategically, Afghanistan was a sort of important bulwark to hold back the Chinese from developing significant land routes west that don't go through Russia and indeed in our absence the Chinese have started making inroads.
