Inactive Gonzalo Lira / Coach Red Pill / expat229 - Scam Artist, Male Feminist Pretending to be Alt-Right, Possible Rapist?, Liar, Failed Economist

The amount of chances they gave him were absolutely surreal. Most criminals in any country would not be let go after the first crime, given all their stuff, and asked politely to leave.
They didn't have to ask politely. It would have made a lot more sense to beat him up a little and chuck him out on his ass.

It probably wouldn't have been very interesting. Just a few hours of wheezing and rattling then maybe he'd turn blue after he stopped breathing.
That's more sad than anything else and helps me realize it's pretty gay on the US's part if it goes without at least some pushback from the government. It'd be one thing if Ukraine sentenced him to death and shot him intentionally, but for him to die of neglect before he was even convicted indicates some serious problems.
On the other hand supposedly a few hundred thousand Ukrainians have died so far and it's therefore hard to see them giving him special treatment in that kind of situation. Part of me still has to say if you're bitchmade enough to die from being thrown into an unheated cell maybe you shouldn't talk shit during wartime.

So we still have no confirmation from either US state department or from Ukraine goverment?

If they confirm it then Gonzo Lira becomes a much bigger story.

State Dept. and the foreign government that killed him are not exactly in a rush to validate Tucker or a Fox News story during an election cycle. Could easily become some sort of election issue and I'll have a coronary if I hear Trump say Lira's name. Regardless of Lira's delightful lolcow conduct the people on the receiving end of 100 billion dollars of US tax payer money aka "the good guys" who have decided to kill a loud mouthed American in their custody over their speech is not something that can be adequately explained.

It's worth noting that when the war began while he was in Kyiv, he was given free accommodation at a five-star hotel room. He was subsequently kicked out due to his outspoken views.

He already got a taste of what was to come well before his first arrest.

He believed Kharkiv would be called Kharkov and the throne piece of the Kharkov Oblast as part of the Russian Federation. He put his money where his mouth was and sat in his apartment expecting to be under the tricolor in a week's time. That didn't happen, and now he's dead. Meanwhile, I left Ukraine in 2019 because I thought Zelenskyy was provoking a war. Coach should have not considered himself a geopolitical expert.
Don't retcon it. You said you left because he was a Jew

Genuinely curious what made you believe a war would break out because of Zelenskyy
He almost immediately caused an international incident by calling Russia an authoritarian regime, like days after Russia said they hoped they could end the ongoing conflict peacefully. He then dissolved Parliament and after elections Ukraine effectively became a one-party state when his party alone took an overwhelming majority of seats.

Most importantly, however, is he had no platform. He ran under an anti-corruption campaign. That sounds innocuous, but when you're familiar with China and Chinese history, anti-corruption just means "taking out your political rivals". Aside from that, he had no plan, no experience, was a newcomer to politics, and he seemed to get elected only because he was a comedian that people recognized as President from a popular TV show. Even media had no clue what his actual policies were and some were afraid he'd be a pushover to Putin.

So an arrogant little man with no blood relationship to the country or actual platform comes in stating he'll "stop corruption" (replace the existing corruption with his own), then immediately the entire government is replaced by his party. In the middle of a war (because, remember, I went there knowing the far east was a smoldering war zone).

They deported him and he still returned and to make a show of photographing Ukrainian military personnel and positions which he sent to Russia (a very silly thing to do in wartime), and even then he was bailed,
So show me this footage he supposedly made then.

Where? So far there is no official statement outside of "quote" in TASS from an "unnamed State department official". Other than that, there is nothing substantial except for what Lira Sr. has said. If I haven't found it yet, someone point me to it.

There's probably literally never going to be any sort of official statement. Like ask any authoritative regime that is comfortable killing if they killed someone and what are they gonna say? Best case they say he caught ligma, his death was "completely unrelated stalker child," and theres no recourse if nato's backing them.

All we really can go on is CRP's dad saying it, and until he somehow manages to interact with the outside world or is observed and documented to be alive, he functionally is dead. Bam hittin you with that tree falls and nobody is there but a ukrainian war criminal logic.

"Functionally dead" is a new one for me. Bravo. It's beside the point. If (and it is if) CRP pops back up, everyone riding this train is going to crash into a Georgia hillside. And this whole "It's hushed up" cope is just that. Cope. Russia, Iran, even Best Korea can't keep a politically sensitive death from the public. What's stopping Tucker from going to Kiev and finding out one way or the other?

Do you legitimately think that they would undermine themselves on an international relations level? For coach red pill? It takes literally no effort to for verification of life, its a yes or no question.

It's coach red pill. You can be a positive polly all you want if they're not verifying life the writing is on the wall. He just wasn't perceived as important prior to this, or important enough to keep him alive. If this becomes widespread and hes dead they will literally pretend he doesn't exist and have every incentive to keep pretending.

Hope for the best but plan mentally around the worst if you're invested. He could be alive, but I'd give it like a 10 percent chance max.

"We can confirm the death of U.S. citizen Gonzalo Lira in Ukraine," a State Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital. "We offer our sincerest condolences to the family on their loss."

Compare and contrast.

American-Chilean blogger Gonzalo Lira detained by SBU in Kharkiv

Pro-Russian blogger Gonzalo Lira, who held both U.S. and Chilean citizenship, has allegedly died in a Ukrainian detention center on Jan. 12, according to reports on X (Twitter).

This information has not been officially confirmed by Ukraine or the United States.

Kit Klarenberg, who works at the propaganda outlet Grayzone was among the first to report Lira’s death.

“Confirmed by his family,” wrote Klarenberg.

“I disagreed with him on just about everything. He shouldn’t have died in a Ukrainian jail though.”

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, known for his openly pro-Russian sentiments, also reported Lira’s death, citing an interview with his father as a source.

Blogger Alex Rubinstein shared a letter on X (Twitter), allegedly written by Lira on Jan. 4, in which he complained about his health. The letter mentioned Lira having double pneumonia, pneumothorax, and a severe case of body swelling.

Lira’s father claimed, without evidence, that his son was “tortured” in the detention center.

American billionaire Elon Musk reacted to the news of the pro-Russian blogger’s death, stating, “This is super messed up!” in the comments section of a post by businessman David Sacks, a wealthy person who frequently repeats Russian propaganda on X (Twitter).

Lira, 55, was born in California and held dual citizenship in Chile. He began as a writer of detective novels and thrillers, transitioning to film in Chile. In the 2010s, he became an economic commentator for Business Insider, but 8 out of 10 of his articles were removed from the site.

In 2017, Lira, now calling himself “Coach Red Pill,” transitioned to selling pick-up techniquesand running a blog for men that provided dubious advice on relationships. He had over 300,000 subscribers on YouTube. His blog was criticized for perpetuating stereotypes about women, particularly related to their age and appearance.

Lira eventually relocated to Kharkiv, Ukraine and married a Ukrainian woman.

In November 2021, he deleted most relationship-related videos and began denying reports thatRussia was preparing for an invasion.

On Feb. 23, 2022, a day before the invasion, he arrived in Kyiv “on business.” As the full-scale attack unfolded, Lira actively covered events in Ukraine, echoing almost all of Russia’s propaganda points.

Among other things, he accused NATO of “approaching” Russia’s borders, denied the Buchamassacre, spread fakes about biological weapons, and maps from the Russian Ministry of Defense. He claimed that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy used drugs, alleged Ukraine was controlled by neo-Nazis, and insisted that Russia did not shoot at civilians, instead accusing the Armed Forces of Ukraine of war crimes.

Lira was later arrested for violating Ukraine’s laws against justifying Russian aggression against Ukraine. When he was released on bail, he posted a series of videos detailing how he planned to escape the country on a motorcycle and go to Hungary.
He was subsequently detained again.

American Citizen Jailed in Ukraine for His Political Views Dies
The State Department has confirmed that Gonzalo Lira, a popular YouTuber, has died in a Ukrainian jail
by Dave DeCamp/ January 14, 2024 at 2:09 pm ET/ CategoriesNews/TagsUkraine

Gonzalo Lira, an American citizen who was jailed in Ukraine for his political views, has died in a Ukrainian prison, the State Department confirmed on Saturday.

Lira died on January 11 after a battle with pneumonia that he said was initially ignored by Ukrainian authorities. Lira’s father, Gonzalo Lira Sr., first notified the media of his son’s death on Friday and said he had been pleading with the US embassy to intervene.

“I cannot accept the way my son has died. He was tortured, extorted, incommunicado for 8 months and 11 days, and the US Embassy did nothing to help my son,” Lira Sr. said in an email, according to The Grayzone.

The Grayzone obtained a note Lira Jr. recently wrote to his defense attorney that indicated he had pneumonia for months before being admitted into the hospital. “I have had double pneumonia (both lungs) as well as pneumothorax and a very severe case of edema (swelling of the body). All this started in mid-October, but was ignored by the prison,” the letter reads.

“They only admitted I had pneumonia at a Dec. 22 hearing. I am about to have a procedure to reduce the edema pressure in my lungs, which is causing me extreme shortness of breath, to the point of passing out after minimal activity, or even just talking for 2 minutes,” Lira Jr. added.

Lira Jr. was a popular YouTuber and political commentator based in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv who gained prominence in the early days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He was very critical of the government of President Volodymyr Zelensky and was arrested by the Ukrainian Security Services (SBU) in May 2023 for allegedly justifying the Russian invasion.

“After the start of the full-scale invasion, the blogger was one of the first to support the Russian invaders and glorify their war crimes,” the SBU said in a press release on his arrest. The SBU also accused Lira Jr. of “discrediting the top military and political leadership and the Defense Forces of our state.”

Lira was briefly released from prison on bail in July 2023 and said in a video he posted on social media that he was attempting to seek political asylum in Hungary, but he was again detained by Ukrainian authorities and sent back to prison. There was never any indication that the Biden administration was working to free Lira Jr. from Ukrainian prison.
