As someone who has traveled a lot my general position is that you do not break the laws of countries you are a guest in, regardless of what you think of them or where you are from. But this is a great cause to rally people around to stop sending enormous amounts of money and weapons to lost cause.

Maybe Americans shouldn't care about supporting Ukraine. I think the bigger factor is that enough Americans don't like Russia, and therefore aren't picky about who to help fight Russia, and they likewise probably don't care about Gonzalo either. But his death will be used to turn away some support from Ukraine. It seems like the aid to Ukraine will dry up during 2024/2025 at any rate.
That's kinda how I view it as well. I've personally never really paid attention to Gonzalo Lira, but agree that the way he went out was completely fucked from every angle, even if he had a part to play in it. Even if most KF veterans know that he was an idiot/abuser/grifter/whatever, the average person just hearing about him now doesn't.
