"Mad at the Internet" - a/k/a My Psychotherapy Sessions

Speaking of Palworld and Japs trying to figure out what Americans like, it made me think of Tiger & Bunny. It's a Japanese take on modern American superhero comics where everyone's race, gender, superpower, and sexuality are seemingly selected via bingo tumbler to sometimes very funny results, like a hyperflamboyant gay black man with fire based abilities. It seems like they're genuinely oblivious as to why American comics started heading in that direction. It almost feels like somebody just took a super-pozzed American comic setting and then used it to tell a solid story because they wanted to tell a story rather than push pozzed politics

I gotta kiss Jersh's ass some more, as always your Ethan Ralph impression is a laugh riot for me. If I had an oz of talent I'd make a cartoon recreation like fans of JRE or OneyPlays do. "I don't care that my gunt was harvested from me by the Messican cartel and grinded into powder as an aphrodisiac for the Chai-knees. When they get to fuckin they fuckin good because of me THE RALPHAMALE!" It was hard for me to hear what you were saying during your Andrew Tate-Sigma Grind parody but nevertheless your skits are great and I like hearing you have fun.

Speaking of fun I'm just impressed how you continue to be a happy warrior with all the constant bullshit you deal with. Keep that sprit bro because the fact you're still having fun makes these snakes and grifters seethe harder. He who laughs last laughs best.

It's really frustrating reading the comments on the YouTube archives because they're always very negative compared to anywhere else and these comments also tend to deny me any sort of agency as a real person with a complex perspective based off 30 years of being alive and visiting a lot of places and meeting a lot of people.

No, it's not that the designs are generic and I find it believable they're computer assisted designs, I'm just so mentally ill I can't help myself. I guess even though I said nothing negative about the game, I'm trying to hate it for some reason?

No, I can't just disagree with you. Your opinion is right, therefore I am wrong, and I must be emotionally compromised somehow.

The great thing about people now saying this (and I'm starting to see it a lot), is it's an unfalsifiable hypothesis. No matter what my mother is or my relationship with her or how my childhood went, people like this would try and find some way to correlate them. Bad relationship or conservative tradwife mom? Mommy issues. Good relationship or liberal hippie mom? Momma's boy. Great deduction, jackass: I was born to a mother.

"people shouldn't be allowed to publish nude images created by AI of real people because it is a fucking nightmare nobody should want to live in"
"wow, simp, don't you know she voted for biden?"

The difference between 6 and 10 is 4, whereas the difference between 10 and the rest of the country is twice the size of your entire magazine. Who gives a fuck? And 9 people liked this, like 9 people saw this post and agreed wholeheartedly that my unspecific knowledge of the most shit state in the US is a big deal.

It's really bizarre seeing people who actually listen to me start taking a strong, hardline negative stance against everything I say, without any benefit of a doubt, without any respect for where my positions may come from. I can't even talk about the Texas shit without it being taking the bait or whatever the fuck even though I tried to make it funny.

I guess this is what happens when your audience grows; people start feeling fucking betrayed when you aren't saying exactly what they want to hear all the time. I used to really look forward to reading the comments after streams, it used to be pretty engaging. Now it's always just some fucking assholes complaining about shit that doesn't matter.

People like your podcast because of your unbridled honesty, while generally upbeat and optimistic. A “positive Polly” as you say. The expansion of the audience is always going to include contrarians or people wanting their e-daddy to say and agree with everything they think.

I wouldn’t worry about it, keep on truckin’

I'd take that as a compliment, it means they're actively listening to you and analyzing your commentary.

I wouldn't expect anyone beyond a quality College Professor to accurately state every detail. They get to that point because they focus on one subject and teach a number of courses on a regular basis. You are talking about Pop Culture, Politics, other nations, and finally lolcows all things that are rapidly updating on a daily basis. You don't live in California why would you know their mag capacity limit? People love to deboonk & mock Joe Rogan but Joe Rogan is an excellent host his success speaks for itself.

You made a forum for misfit toys like me who like to get insanely autistic and nitpick a target. They're going to do it to you. I'll do it to you if it's a subject I care about, like The Simpsons or The Sopranos.

YouTube commenters are, and always will be, some of the dumbest fuckers on the planet. You've got more chance of finding spiritual enlightenment from /pol/ than you have of gleaning an iota of wisdom from YT, especially from people who couldn't figure out how to watch the actual stream.

I'd just ignore it if I were you.

Don't be gay, Joshua.

Do you WANT an audience who universally agrees with every take, on every issue?

People just like talking shit. Don't worry about it.

YouTube comments are literally SCP tier cognitohazards. They can induce mania and make you question your own understanding of the world.
Of every website I've ever seen that a post could possibly screenshoted and shared for updoots, YouTube is by far the lowest on that list. I think it comes from an inherent human understanding that they are otherworldly cosmic runes that should not be gazed upon.

If I were in that Youtube comments section I would have upvoted that guy too. Nobody reasonable expects you to get every little detail correct, but don't expect us to just let you get away with it either. If you say something that upsets someone, they'll let you know. That's life. As long as you keep making these little mistakes every stream, people will complain about them. You can clap back if you want, or not. Maybe dedicate a section next stream to complaining about those Youtube comments, it could be entertaining.

This right here is the best advice. After all these years of running this site, I should think one of the biggest lessons you could gleam from all the lolcows you've seen is to not get upset every time someone disagrees with you, or gets pissy with you. At the end of the day what are they going to do? Complain more in Youtube comments? Great, who gives a shit, the world keeps turning and you've got bigger problems to worry about.

I might be new to the forum, but I say this as someone who has been a long time fan of your podcast, back when you did people streams and would play Life Is Strange. Hell I even remember the Alfred's Play House stream. So take it easy Jersh, you're all good man, just keep sneeding on.

No thanks to having a segment complaining about complainers. It sucks that the quality of comments always goes down as more people consume product, but its only entertaining to respond to them, like the guy above proposed, if its actually witty or salient rebuttals. I'm sure the average layperson realizes that a person talking off the cuff for half a dozen hours every week to a live audience is going to get small shit wrong every now and then, and won't actually be mad at the internet over it.

I hope at least the xitter feedback you can now get at least somewhat makes up for the decline in youtube iq.

The only betrayal in all of this is the Bad at Video Games fan zone. The Baddies cried out in the comments for more content, but did the Sneeder listen?

Having a different hamster at the start of the show pop up called “The Fact Checker” and quickly going over things you got wrong from the first previous episode and saying “thank you for correcting me stalker child. Enjoy prison.” could be funny.

Don’t let it get to you. Everyone thinks they’re an expert and you do give off an intonation of authority at times (I think it’s because you’re confident in your statement) and that will naturally make someone’s response more hostile. Getting mad at them is what a true lolcow would do. Using them for content and at the same time confirming their veracity and providing the correct info to the audience is what the pro grifter would do.

If Null wants to have a segment of angry complaints he could set up a voicemail only phoneline and let people leave messages.

Who knows maybe there'd be actual lolcows calling in screaming at Josh. But let's be realistic 90% of the time it'd be someone screaming "JUUUUULAAAAY." Probably would be a giant pain in the ass to keep up with and I know Jersh hates Google so he probably wouldn't want to use their voicemail transcription. Really I'm just nostalgic for old Howard Stern and he had "Hateman" who would scream nigger.
Good times I miss the 90s.
