I do not have all the answer but I think an age of consent of 16 is absolute folly, especially in a society that is hyper pornographic and sexualized, and excuses and condones all sorts of profligacy and vice in seemingly every other context. If I made the rules I would probably relegate freshman back to junior high, and make age of conset at entry in high school.

Another problem you and others have is that my comments do not equate with endorsement or excusi g if such actions.. As I stated, I am ambivalent about age of consent at 14-15 (as it is in most of Europe), but balk at any age of consent higher than 16. We all know sophmores and even freshman dated juniors and seniors and high school and there are all sorts of cases where a bf a parent disapporves of and they have sex before his 18th and before she is 16 or 17 or whatever and then the day of his 18th the dad calls the cops. One guy in Illinois went to jail for that. When he was released, he married her, and has to go to the police station as part of the sex registry for having sex with the woman who would be his future wife and is now her current wife. Madness. Ditto with the Baylee Turner story, which I hope you looked at.

I generally support an age of consent of 16, however, if the age of consent is 16 and you put freshmen back in junior high you have the problem of 15 and a half year old sophomores dating juniors and seniors. Romeo and Juliet laws cover this but not all states have them, and they don't address the fact that high school aged young people do drink, whether it is legal or not, do go to keggers and other things also attended not just by upper classmen but also by high school graduates and even college kids. Then you have the cases where a teenager has a fake id, gets into a bar, some guy mistakenly believing that person is 21 (because it is a bar) and gets convicted because in many jurisdictions honest make of fact is not a defense. That shit happens all the time. It is even a plot point in Trainspotting, although I am not sure if mistake of fact is a defense in The United Kingdom.

In the quoted texts I also unequivocally denounce statutory rape. I reiterate I also stated freshman should not be in high school because it creates these sorts of problems. That I am against freshmen being in high school demonstrates my disapproval of such things.

That's not my position. If it is good enough for Germany, France, and much of Europe would be a more fitting motto. Unfortunately though many European states (as satellite states of the United States) have adopted other sets of laws punishing political dissent that are anathema. I of course support censorship and suppression of certain political views, it is just that the left, cultural marxism etc should get the boot.
