I didn't like your idea until you gave an example and i found myself agreeing with you. That said though, wouldn't this just end up with people branching off into their own echo chamber threads for basically any topic where two sides clash?
I think it'd probably end up like the womanhate/manhate, russia/ukraine threads where instead of there being one thread that might be interesting, I find myself not bothered checking either because you're only gonna see one viewpoint.
TL;DR sure it probably solves one problem but IMO probably makes a bigger one
You can always have a third free for all thread, there's one for the Russia/Ukraine war.

I figured he would be eventually because of his clear association with Catler and being a gay Jew degen. I thought he was sort of funny at times, but then look at the former sentence I posted.
Gay and Jew isn’t the worst but he’s a retard if he didn’t think most of the forums had a prejudice against him. I just think the biggest twist for me was hearing that he was a fur simp. There was a chat they invited me too where they were bitching about how we were all jackasses for “starting this drama”

Yes, but we'd still have access to demilitarised mixer threads where people from both sides can scream at each other all day long if they want.
I think it'd be far more comfortable and practical to be able to request mods make threads with topics at hand
It would be much preferred, but the way things are we simply don't have enough jannies for that to be reasonable.

The kind of schizos who would go berserk about ratings and ruin a thread will do that with or without notifications.
In your opinion as a retired staff member do you think I'll be able to dodge a ban for image-replying with the old stickers to trigger forum schizos as long as I'm doing it ironically?

There is only one truly active DM group I'm in. It is primarily focused on a single topic, but I like that the conversation can meander organically without having to worry about being jannied for going off topic for a bit. As to the primary topic, because the people in it are already strongly interested in the subject, the posts tend to be high quality and are at times more entertaining and informative than the public thread on the topic. The public thread is not bad, but it tends to be fast moving, less reflective, more impersonal, and more formal.

noooo please don't!

As an example ; I like pitbulls. A quiet minority of the farms also likes pitbulls. I'd like to make a thread for pitbull enjoyers to talk about pitbulls and post wholesome pictures of pitbulls being wholesome

It's true. I've pretty much given up saying even anything neutral about them on here.
Love me pitbull, simple as. He's called Mike Byteson. People tell me they are more likely to snap on people, but you just have to raise them right. Make sure they know you're the alpha. That's why every time he acted up as a puppy, I gave him a slap to show him who's boss. As long as you raise them safe like this, you'll never have any problems.

Why not just have reaction notifications off by default and let the user enable them if they so desire? Score is useful, but I'm willing to sort of ignore that.

I get that Nool removed the stickers in an attempt to make people less autistic, but what's with the change to Watched Threads?
I don't think he gets why people are annoyed tbh.

These changes seem to go against having fun on this webzone. The "problems" caused by DMs and reaction scores are users making fools of themselves and receiving immediate community feedback on how and what they post. They serve a number of purposes and generate very funny content.

To fully engage requires some kind of sharing and positive/negative feedback. The sharing happens in DMs because while they're not safe, they are not in a permanent, searchable thread frequented by people who will mock you or strongly characterize you off the smallest detail. The feedback occurs with reactions. Removing the notification and score isn't freeing anyone from autism, it's encouraging low quality drive by shitposts and removing a key incentive for effort posts. Lots of the best posts in a given thread ranging from created art, cross-referencing records, putting together a big theory or a dox are partially if not fully motivated by positive reactions.

I don't think this is going to improve posts overall at all, and will lead to less user effort as they're denied their dopamine. We ruthlessly mock it, but it is a big driver for large portions of the site.

The only dogs of any breed I've met that have been aggressive are ones that are either trained to be aggressive or ones that were abused until they became aggressive.

I know two pitbulls that were rescues from abusive situations. One of them is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met and he's old and blind and can barely walk now so I don't think he's going to be killing any babies. The other one's sketchy. But that one was beaten and had crack smoke blown in his face on a regular basis. He still wasn't aggressive, just overly defensive and fearful around strangers. Definitely not a dog you want to bring around kids though.
