I'll be honest but I don't believe it, I don't buy that idea these days.
It could have been true in past decades, but I would attribute it to the speed and availability of information at the time.
The population did not have many sources to compare and verify the veracity of the information and media they consumed, especially something made for shock value.
but today where every film, article and news is overanalyzed on the internet for months and the speed at which it spreads encourages various discussions ,even with experts, the only way to spread misinformation is through government censorship and multimillion-dollar companiespropaganda, but is still difficult for the truth not to find its way.
hell, even with the support of multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate for more than a decade the LGBTQ+ community does not see itself any closer to being accepted by the population and sees the world being controlled by white supremacy, despite there being nothing in the media being produced supporting them.
My point is: Hazbin Hotel is not going to make sexual assaults seen as "normalized" if millions of porn videos, films and images on the internet have not managed to change the population's mind yet.

Vivziepop only said that Vaggie was short for Vagatha because people thought it was insulting that a lesbian character was named after female genitalia. But she said fuck it and did it anyway when it came to the actual show which I unironically commend her for.

Also, all those examples are from live action media, which you can argue stems more off of real life. Not saying cartoons can't reflect the real world, but if you're basing your morality and opinions off from a fictional animated show (especially one the is called Hazbin Hotel), that's more of a you problem.

I remember the stream in which Vagatha was confirmed her real name, it was the same one where they revealed Angel Dust’s real name is Anthony. Whether that was actually done as a copout is unknown but very possible. The angel retcon just gave Viv an excuse to scrap it because she made Adam a misogynist who named all the exorcists after female genitalia.
Except for Lute, whose name was literally just a placeholder for ‘lieutenant’ until Viv decided to keep it in the end.

I'm pretty sure Angel Dust's real name has always been Anthony. That isn't a recent invention. I think "Vagatha" may have been, considering it is an extremely unlikely name for a Salvadoran. I'm not really sure about the transition from that to a fallen angel whenever that happened. Sounds like some Vivzshit to me.
