There actually are people today who believe in the Norse myths. They believe Thor, Loki, Odin, Baldur, etc. were all real people at one point in time. Now, if you approached them and told them about what was going on with the Nu-GoW games, they'd probably be really confused or they'd laugh in a "Oh, is that what people are doing nowadays?" kind of way. I knew a guy, a policeman, who believed in Norse Mythology but when I told him about the whole video game thing, that's all he did--laugh. He really doesn't care what some idiots in Montreal are doing with their video games and just goes about his business.

That's really the long and short of these people trying to influence the larger culture with their silly rewrites.

And so does regular Earth. I have a coworker that wouldn't shut up about Helldivers (and rightfully so, it looks fun) and after looking at some of the gameplay, it had me pining to play some Earth Defence Force 5. Since suggesting alternative titles was brought up earlier in the thread, Earth Defence Force 6 has its English release on the 14th. The dialogue is entirely written like a B-rated movie and involves fighting hordes of monsters and aliens to defend the Earth. It's the only game series I know of that can have you piloting a mech suit and getting in a fist fight with Godzilla right after listening to a bunch of soldiers freak out about how five-story tall frog people look just like humans because they have two eyes, ears, a nose, a mouth, hands and feet and walk on two legs. The game is an all around, albeit janky, good time and significantly better than the shit produced by those developers pumping out DIE goyslop.

Tangentially, I think that for many of those who have an agenda to insert DEI stuff into games, that it is consumed, or even that it has displaced a cultural competitor, regardlesss of payment, matters most. Propaganda like that effectively affects, especially so for their primary demographic being kids (age <25-30), so ultimately that has to matter a lot to those pushing the DEI cash.

When someone says that a game is full of what they consider subversive propaganda and then admits that they'll play it anyway, just not pay, I think that can be chalked up as a partial win for DEI enthusiasts.

The Australians have similarly aggressive acknowledgement requirements for their businesses as well, so you'll see that stuff in their games every so often. You know I was curious about this yesterday after discussing Gyppos with a Eurofriend, and from what I found Irish Travelers have little or no Roma DNA. It's just coincidental. Carcinisation but for freeloading hobos.
