On the subject of this all being Gamergate 2, I thought about it and there's something I'm wondering about...
Most of the notable people of Gamergate are old now. The ones that won the fight have formed together to be this force of the industry like Sweet Baby is, and the ones that lost have gone their separate ways. Null mentioned this on Mati, and he's right but that fight happened almost ten years ago. A big part of me is thinking that because Zoomers are now adults, if GamerGate2 really is happening then the amount of people involved could be twice as big, possibly bigger. Gen Z is a generation that grew up in front of a screen more than any other, and gamers have supposedly increased in number by over a billion since GG became a thing:

One could defend the gaming industry with this chart and say that it's doing just fine, except that the most popular games right now are ones that came out many years ago. Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft, Counterstrike, and League of Legends are still in the top 5. Maybe it's just because their 'free'/cheap, but only two games released in the past year are in the top 20, and one of them is Palworld (a game that had NONE of this corporate bullshit involved). Everything is stale, and young gamers are hungry for the industry to get shaken up a bit.
Last time it was about things gamers liked getting taken away, this time it could be about taking them back. Or nothing changes, but I guess we'll see.
