Do those people really qualify as Fallout fans though? The vast majority of Fallout fans don't give a shit about Fallout before Fallout 3, sadly enough.
Hell, I'm almost tempted to say Fallout 4.

We're going on...what? 17 years of Bethesda owning Fallout?Do those people really qualify as Fallout fans though?
Do Bethesda devs and Bethesda fans really qualify as people though? You say if they should qualify as Fallout fans anymore, but I have to think that Bethesda is saying the same thing about the people who won't shut up about how much their games suck and how much they'd rather play New Vegas, Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 and when I look at it like that it seems to make perfect sense why they don't really acknowledge New Vegas.
people mistake Bethesda's recognition of Obsidian as a fucking mess of a studio as some kind of fervent hatred, as you can see in these threadsWe're going on...what? 17 years of Bethesda owning Fallout?
I'm not saying people can't or shouldn't complain, but it feels like "old" Fallout fans have a really skewed sense of their standing.
People like to ask why Bethesda doesn't acknowledge New Vegas more, and honestly I'm wondering how much acknowledgement they expect. It was a side game they didn't develop and most of "Bethesdas" fans don't really place a high importance on it.
There is this weird sense of cope that Bethesda/Todd is absolutely furious at New Vegas and I just don't see it. It didn't sell more than Fallout 3, it certainly didn't sell more than Fallout 4. It has an average player base of like 5000 people on Steam.

Yeah, but the people that worked on New Vegas were actually good at their job.Starfield was worked on for longer than New Vegas, with more resources, excuses and manpower.
You know the most wacky part of it?
Bethesda did the QA for New Vegas not Obsidian because it was their engine. To this day they have not fixed some of the massive glaring issues with Fallout 3, New Vegas, Oblivion, or Skyrim. Some of the fixes to those games that are mods or community patches actually come from Obsidian employees as well....did you play New Vegas at launch?
It's been 13 years and there's still idiots who think yes man and legion are viable options, too. What do you expect?it's been 13 years and there are still idiots who honestly think house would save mankind
NV is a very buggy game because Gamebryo, Obsidian had no experience with the engine, and they retardedly agreed to an absurdly short dev time because they over estimated their abilities. Just be thankful you arent playing on the ps3 version.Decided to start playing New Vegas again with the only mod being the Portable Tent mod.
But I've been having issues of the game just randomly crashing to windows with 0 error messages.
That's why outer worlds totally killed fallout and wasn't a bug filled, shallow mess of a game right?New Vegas were actually good at their job.
That's the failsafe option. It's been 13 years and there's still idiots who think yes man
oh nolegion
Is the auto-save enabled? You need to disable it first thing when you play New Vegas on any platform.Decided to start playing New Vegas again with the only mod being the Portable Tent mod.

Anyone that supports Fallout 4 onward aren't actual Fallout fansDo those people really qualify as Fallout fans though?
I meant in terms of story or worldbuilding, not technology-wise. Even then, I can hardly blame the state the game was in when being forced to use Bethesda's outdated game engine.
A game that had the original creators of Fallout, at least Tim Cain was there I forgot if the other guy was too, working on it but not the big two where worked on New Vegas. Neither Josh Sawyer nor Chris Avellone worked on it and they are the two who I would say basically shaped NV into what it is. Mind you Tim wasn't involved in the series at all after 1 as he felt it should of been a one off game.As much as FNV is like my third favorite game of all time I do tend to agree with the opinion that is was probably a fluke that is turned out that good.
I mean think about it. Obsidian had more funding, more dev time, and absolutely no one to tell them what to do or order them around and what did they make?
The Outer Worlds, which was mediocre if I'm being charitable.
Not really sure about this oneAlso some sites that deal with board games and tabletop games had posts from people who were working with the Fallout license. And Bethesda told them outright that they were not supposed to reference New Vegas or make New Vegas's setting the main location for whatever game they were making. And that if they wanted to include New Vegas mentions in their games that every single mention needed individual approval from someone at Bethesda. But stuff about Fallout 3 or 4 they could just include without needing any oversight.
The biggest mistake that they made with Outer Worlds was trying to make it at all like New Vegas. New Vegas is basically a sequel to both Fallout 1 and 2. It had all of the lore, world building, and design of those games to work off of without needing to start from scratch. It also had all of the assets from previous Fallout games including reusing everything from Fallout 3. They had this massive concept and world already there for them to play in and some of them had already worked on Fallout beforehand. The Outer Worlds, which was mediocre if I'm being charitable.
