Idk about that. First quarter is boring and can even feel awkward or clumsy, second and third portion are more solid, last quarter is kinda contrived to me - rush ending doesn't help either.Brain Powerd is super rewarding and satisfying to watch, though. It expects you to put all the pieces together and figure out what's happening yourself; it doesn't spoonfeed anything to you. Because of this the character interactions feel more realistic and engaging. The protagonist is quite likeable -- maybe even moe. I also like how the mecha, which are sentient, behave like animals rather than humans. The show does have some unintentionally funny moments, though, such as the "Orphan has become the 53rd state" scene (but that's mostly due to the music and the absurdity of the American livery). Think of this show as a weirder, fast-paced Turn A Gundam.
It's good that the show touch upon on why characters behave like that, why they are mess up and weird in some way. But still... it doesn't feel impactful.
I probably will never ever get used to "space magic" and "ghost telepathy" thing.
The parts that I think are supposed to be comedy and emotional (entire backstory of Isami family generation), neither of these feel done well. They are more like, yeah whatever, lets move on.
Although, I find these two things are funny. How Iiko really cherishes her birthday gift from Yuu when they were much younger, only to have Yuu outright saying not remember at all.
Jonathan gets mocked by an orphan kid for his mommy issue (mommy milk), and only in next episode he taunts Yuu with "I fuck your mom" after "I fuck your sister" doesn't work.
I don't really find any prominent characters are really really likeable. The okay ones are Kanan and Rush, but they are like side characters. Hime is supposedly being the special one, but most of the time she's kinda lackluster, not really feeling emphasis on her enough.
Yuu, despite being protag and having character development, I still can't find him more interesting nor likable. Same thing to Yuu family members, his parents are just "Science" and his sister, Iiko, is just edgier than Yuu.
Jonahthan was amusing at first at the infiltrating on Novis-Noa, then just boring like a manchild wanting to prove something to his "new" daddy Baron.
Also, English dub is probably a much better experience for this one rather than Japanese VAs. I find Japanese Yuu isn't pleasant to listen at all, considering him being the protagonist.
Brain Powered rating: Mommy issue/10 or Dysfunctional family love/10.
