Fallout series

fallout will never be consistent because I don't think even the original devs really thought about the world that much, it was a mish mash of all of their favorite pop culture things.

for instance, what the fuck does "bethesda got fallout wrong because they think its the 50s in the future, not the future of the 50s" shit you always hear parroted mean.
someone should tell interplay because
1. why is the tv in the opening to fallout 1 in black and white?
2. why is the news broadcast done in a pre-ww2 silent reel style?
3. why is the water chip a huge fucking vacuum tube? tim cain says it was a joke so the macguffin for the very first game is a prank

I hate emils shit writing too and the show looks like dogshit but asking for tonal/thematic consistency from a series that, at its inception, was a pastiche of just stuff the devs liked from tv and movies is a Sisyphean task.
interplay couldn't even get their own shit together with the nonsense that was fallout 2's pacing, theme, and tone. Telepathic drug using tribal astral projection? Sure why not

tl;dr fallout 1 was lightning in a bottle that just worked

SO, after the shitshow that is Fallout tv series, you guys wanted to just wait the two weeks and play some good, old Fallout game, done by modders, right?
Well, guess what:

IT AIN'T HAPPENING, not in the foreseeable future.

TL;DR The new Bethesda "next gen" mod will introduce the new command line, that will fuck up the mod, and they need to fix and adjust the mod once the update drops.

Problem is, they have outsourced this task to the outside teams, not part of the Fallout:London project, and they have no idea, when (if) they will manage to fix everything,

in accoradance with the next gen patch.

Sigh, this is what i get for being hopefull. Fucking WW3 will start before any of the 3 big F4 mods will see the light of day.
I'm confident that Bethesda dropped the patch when they did so they could fuck the release.

i hated the fucking timer
I remember the first time I played 1 I tried blazing through the game because I thought the timer was really tight like games with timers usually were back in the day, but it really isn't. You can easily get everything you want done especially since it gets extended by a lot once you talk with the water merchants.

Necropilis is literally a stone's throw from Shady Sands. It's really not that bad

I hate emils shit writing too
Everyone does. Fallout 4 is one of my games but nobody sane likes Emil. Bethesda Fans hate Emil, Bethesda haters hate Emil.
fallout 1 was lightning in a bottle that just worked
No it didn’t. It was Shovelware dogslop even back then.
Mario 64 came out the year before and it does laps around Fallout 1.

I'm confident that Bethesda dropped the patch when they did so they could fuck the release.
Just like they “sabotaged” New Vegas despite Chris Fagallone and the other cretins saying for 14 years now that that isn’t true?
Bethesda is one of the FEW studios who actively supports mods and modders.
They literally have taken modders and HIRED them. Offered people JOBS when they saw their mods.

Where in the fuck has this weird ass narrative that Bethesda hates modding come from? Take that energy and go after Capcom for making their games purposely unmoddable, or Rockstar for threatening to sue modders into Oblivion, or Nintendo for doing the same.

This is how every show is written. The characters live in giant cities and towns and metropolitan areas of sometimes tens of millions of people. But they all run into the same five characters over and over. It's even more absurd in science-fiction shows with multiple planets or worlds. The extreme levels of pure chance and coincidence to lazily move the characters along in their plotlines strains credulity and borderlines on pure absurdity and insanity. Where characters encounter each other repeatedly in such unbelievably unrealistic and 1-in-a-million odds chance that it breaks the fourth wall to the audience.
A perfect example is when the BoS Knight decides to jump out of the Vertibird in a completely random area because he's "bored and wants to shoot something" and immediately stumbles upon a used tin of food which they immediately determine is the scientist they are looking for. If that isn't ridiculous enough, this encounter changes absolutely nothing and serves zero purpose, as the squire finds the scientist in the town anyway. Just awful fucking writing.
Some of the most popular shows of all time do this and the fans do not care. Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Silicon Valley, the list is probably endless. Where the characters just fall into place without any explanation other than pure coincidence. Modern movies do not even try to explain where the plot has gone with audience. Giving us all time hilarious writing like "Somehow....Palpatine returned". How? Why? Who cares? Just accept it. Consume.
Some shows can pull it off because they have years of substance to back it up, which is still lazy writing, but you can forgive it. This show however has none of it.

I havent checked if this got posted but it seems Bethesda has used official art from the mod project arroyo, the discord has posted video evidence "supporting" this claim.

"Pamphlet Remake" So some underpaid amazon employee yoinked a fan remake of a official asset from a Bethesda IP?
Are they treating this like a massive issue and that Bethesda is stealing from mod creators or are they just going "Oh hey, neat."

If anyone wanted a consistent post post-apocalyptic world, the answer was Metro.

Just ignore this faggot it's bait, also reddit spacing.

Worse, I think he may be genuine. I'm surprised he isn't spamming the AVGN thread for pages on end on how bimmy totally isn't a lolcow and how the latest episodes are good achtsually, you just don't have any taste. Why come here, did bimmy praise the movie or something?

When a story is being initially made it is like soft clay being molded. Sometimes a person or a team may not entirely be sure what they want the finished result to be just yet so they may experiment and search for identities. Strange or odd ideas may be inserted and tossed out at any point in time. Plots and settings are a blank canvas at this point so even if the material isn't all that great people can give it the benefit of the doubt because its new and nothing came before it.

People usually don't care all that much about events and history being changed or expanded on if they are relatively minor typically. When big things get altered or changed, stuff can get very messy, very fast if not handled correctly. If someone invested a lot of time into understanding an element of a story something that later gets binned or replaced by something else they could become upset. New fans may not be irritated by changes because they don't know about what came before but old ones could feel like they wasted their time and maybe money.

Furthermore the longer something has been an established fact people can grow attached to it for whatever reason which can cause its own kind of push back.

Compare the situation Fallout is in currently with a couple other franchises known for their fans serious obsessions with lore: Warcraft and Warhammer 40k. Warcraft had the events of Warcraft 2 and 3 altered in a major and disappointing way a while back by an WoW expansion, meanwhile Warhammer 40k may soon have female Space Marines.

fallout 1 gameplay wise is nothing special, agreed.
the merits of fallout were always its setting which because fo1 is such a short game, you really don't dwell on how paradoxical the world has to be just to exist to fit all the devs interests.

now try to expand those inherently contradictory stylistic choices to multiple games and having to justify them and explain them.
fallout has a lot more cracks than most people would like to admit.

@Breadbassket I agree, I'm mostly referring to style and tonal choices.

What if you found out he was Todd Howard?

House does everything he says he won't. I really have no idea why people buy into his sale's pitch: you are literally the only way he'll succeed. The man has no redeeming qualities.
House is on his last legs. Just like Caesar and the NCR. This is why it's possible for the Courier to beat them all. All of the factions are incredibly weak and stretched too thin. And New Vegas is becoming rapidly out of control. Literally every single faction is falling apart. House cannot control his tribal groups on the Strip anymore. They are reverting back to organized crime and even cannibalism.

Caesar fears that if he dies the Legion will immediately collapse. The NCR can lose its President and be on the verge of folding its entire Mojave front. House is no different. He's struggling to maintain order amongst his own people. And he cannot even reason with the Legion or Brotherhood or NCR anymore.

You side with House because his vision of the future of the Mojave is in making it a resort for gambling. And trying to civilize people through vacations and leisure. He wants his own playground in New Vegas. And hopes that his Tribal groups and Securitrons can hold it all together. He's desperate enough that one or two people like Benny or the Courier can finish him off for good in his weakness.

House in the Fallout show was portrayed by a fucking Mexican.
Sorry, Italian bros. According to Amazon you're all a bunch of Mexicans. The description is somehow worse than the video tiself.
Watch Fallout TV Show For Free: amzn.to/4cJJzkW using a 30 day free trial. I suggest giving this series a go, lets just say... it's no Halo TV series lol
These normies make me sick. What kind of conformist cattle attitude is this? You're going to throw your money at the new piece of Hollywood slop because it's better than the previous piece of Hollywood slop? I thought leftists were supposed to hate big corporations. This is why I absolutely fucking hate gamers.

The reason adaptations suck is because Hollywood hacks think they can do your classic games better. But so does the videogame industry. Videogame writers and journalists wish videogames were as bland and inoffensive as modern Hollywood slop and these shows are basically a way of closing the gap. If you like videogames, then it's against your best interests to support any of this shit.
